Does the .zone TLD has any value at all?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Sure it has value. Not a lot of public domain sales, but it is young too. Are you asking because you are curious whether to invest in them or you have some and they aren't selling?

Yes, I'm curious whether to invest on them. I just purchased realestate.zone with a renewal fee of $107.00. I also have dentist.zone and attorney.zone at the same renewal fee but I would like to hear from the experts with more experience than me about it's value on the market for future sales. I also love to see that there is a .zone search site in the health industry. It's health.zone. I like the idea as well. What do you think?
Thank you in advance Getchaname!

Those are good premium domains however if you are investing long-term and looking for end user sales could be quite a while before you see some kind of return. I do think they could all sell for decent prices, but 107 dollars annually per name for renewals is very expensive and would discourage many out of the game. I know some domainers do very well flipping premium priced ngtlds, but I feel like it hurts the overall market because flippers are eager to make a sale rather than get top dollar, it is a model to make money if you are good at it but, very hard cause you have to keep hustling.

I wish NameBio only reported end-user sales rather than all public sales over $100, this also hurts the market, there should be a system for end users and domainers.

It is a good domain, but all I see is a basic general search engine?!

I think since its still young, and expensive renewal imo I would only go for hack names like:

end.zone
red.zone

or letters and numbers:

1.zone
x.zone

ty nice domains you have but I see you renewing them at least two years b4 you sell them..

I noticed lots of .zone been regged by Chinese people in last 1-2 years, plus I happend also get some .zone name recently, (you can check here to find what I have) thus I want share some thought for this, specially from China/Chinese view.

1. the price is quite low, now, it it 5$ for reg and renew in aliyun..(I noticed Dynadot is $22 for renew)

2. .zone is not a difficult word for chinese, we have very good expereience regard the word ZONE, as Tencent have a very famous products call Qzone(QQ空间), lots of people use this service....also, the biggest tele-communication company in China(China Mobile) also "had" a service called M-zone(动感地带,我的地盘我做主), again, lots of people use that service and that company spend tons of fee for marketing promotion..so, the word "zone" is quite accpetable from Chinese view .and we(I means the generic young people in China ) know what it means...and we not surprise use this word in any internet service brand...but we also aware .zone is not for a serious business address, it looks kind of fun and personal usage in our view...

3. I think those Chinese investor may be want sell those name to western people, as I noticed they mainly reg English word, instead "pinyin"...so, Western people, don't think u need reg more to sell to Chinese market...(some time we assuming the other side is buyer...)

4. in any case, I think no need consider it have high value and jump into investment...I think it is just another alternative option for people who want have a domain name, affordable and easy....just in this way..

for sure, some do have high value potentially, but just don't take it so serious...if u own some normal renew fee but very very meaningful name, u may want hold for a longer time, otherwise, may be drop is best way until u have a idea for dev...
