BrandPa.com has announced their presence on NamePros...
Hi there! I'm sorry your experience with BB wasn't pleasant :/ If you'd like to try our marketplace please don't hesitate to do so :) We're new in the domaining industry but very eager to learn! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions :) This is us: https://brandpa.com/ (or if you'd like to read about the sellers' rules visit this page: https://brandpa.com/start-selling)

Look forward to hearing from you!
Granted, the above post is from the BrandBucket experience thread, and will likely be deleted for being off topic / wrong thread, it was the first time I heard of them. The founder, @Jowita Emberton, had introduced herself in an earlier thread:

Hi guys! NamePros is a great website to get invaluable information about the domaining industry. As a reader, I'm here pretty much every day. As a writer, I'm starting today :)

I'm the founder of Brandpa (brandpa.com), a domain name marketplace similar to BB, BR or Namerific. We use AI and human knowledge to create and judge the names’ value according to how easy to pronounce and catchy they are.

I'm here to learn, get to know you and your recent experiences with other brandable name marketplaces :) We're still developing the business so any insight on our site (brandpa.com) or anything you're missing from other marketplaces will be very useful :)

Thanks!

I'm creating this thread to discuss their marketplace, and for those who have experiences with them.

Here's what I know so far:

The founder, @Jowita Emberton, runs two other online businesses according to her LinkedIn page.

Delighten.co.uk - Web / brand design firm.

Weddination.com - Polish wedding services

According to her LinkedIn, she has been operating BrandPa since August 2016. Though, the last cached Archive.org screenshot is a server error on October 4, 2016 HERE

BrandPa.com (2006) is registered to Oliver Emberton, founder and managing director of SilkTide.com.

Currently, there are 562 domains published / listed on BrandPa. It appears most domains listed are handregged by the owners. Not 100% on this; I will run a check when my program is working again.

After reviewing their listings, I found two errors.

upload_2017-2-20_14-26-8.png The domain regged is MonoRaptor.com, but the text reads ManoRaptor.com

upload_2017-2-20_14-27-32.png The domain regged is UnknownVenues.com, but the text reads UnknownVenus.com

At first look:

Pros
  • No Listing Fee
  • FREE Logos
  • Domain Owner sets price ($1,000+)
  • Forwards all offers for sellers consideration
  • Brandpa is a pretty memorable / catchy brandable domain.
  • Select 'On-Sale' marketing section
upload_2017-2-20_14-34-49.png

Cons
  • Low Alexa Ranking (4,557,819)
upload_2017-2-20_14-36-32.png
  • New site. Assuming low organic traffic, and low type-in traffic due to quality and quantity of inventory.
  • Piggy-back branding off BrandBucket in site footer see below
upload_2017-2-20_14-45-31.png

upload_2017-2-20_14-41-42.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-42-20.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-43-14.png upload_2017-2-20_14-43-54.png

  • Reviews are all from .co.uk domains, yet BrandPa doesn't sell any .co.uk domains. A quick glance at other domains owned by the reviewers and I wasn't able to verify any brandable .com's with history tracing back to BrandPa.
upload_2017-2-20_15-10-41.png

Personal thoughts: I respect that they "allow the seller to submit more domain names" by not charging a listing fee. To me this shows they are willing to work for your exclusivity. Should they gain popularity, I wonder if they'll sustain this business model and/or if their logo / listing quality will decrease over time when resources are spread across the masses.

@Jowita Emberton = Feel free to comment / fill in any of the blanks. :penguin:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Post the name. Otherwise, I doubt things changed in just the last few weeks.

I sold Jump/lo.com

Hope you can breath now.

Peace

It's not coming up on their recent sales. What did you get for it ?

But okay, bravo, 1 out of 400.

They stopped posting their "recent " sales under "recent" sales a while ago....those are all old past sales. JS

"Alternative to BB" sounds kinda "second choice". As a competitor, BP should not introduce its potential buyers to other marketplace.

I guess they should stop calling it "recent sales" on their website.

Even though BrandPa removed Paypal as a payment option with no prior warning via email or on their website, and I have requested my account to closed because of that, they are still forcing me to follow their 30 day rule to close the account. I post this email for anyone else considering closing their account because of their sudden removal of paypal:

Hi James,

Thank you for your reply.

I would like to confirm that your request for the removal of your domains from Brandpa has been accepted. Your domains are going to expire with Brandpa on 29/05/2019 as per terms & conditions.

Please note, once your domain is expired, any text, logos, and visuals that Brandpa created for that domain, will be permanently lost and you cannot use them. Brandpa reserves the right to re-use any of these assets for future domain listings. If after the expiry date, you decide to have this name to be relisted, you will need to cover $5 listing fee again.

We will also close your account as requested on 29/05/2019

Kind regards,

Sales and Marketing Representative

All similar marketplaces use the same style so what is the deal? I see no difference. As for Paypal, they will accept and consider case by case as they said so I dont see why you would think it is an issue. Brandpa is the only marketplace I saw so far, which would try to send the payment to you, no matter what it takes them. They are really very committed to that and that is one of the things I like about them.

Congrats @DomainsMaven for the sale and confirming it. @Brapda @Jowita Emberton marketplace has been the best marketplace for me in the last two years and I hope it continues to be like that.

Everyone has the same policy of a 30 day notice.

I don't recall seeing that if the branding company takes away your payment method without warning, they get to screw you one more time for 30 days. I guess I have to go back and look for it.

Maybe I should take this whole mess and go post it in a few places to warn those who dont even know it happened yet because the way I found out was to have to log back into the BP website.

From what I understand, they have said that they will make exceptions. So, if you sell within 30 days, you can ask for PP payment. So should be the same for you for the 30 day period.

This was last year policy (archive.org). I was also annoyed with 30day policy because they changed policy after I signed up and submited my names.

What's going on with Brandpa this month? My stats have basically frozen in place and the site's average hotness score is hovering near 0. It doesn't seem like anything has changed in weeks.

Wow, no posts in this thread for 3 months? What happened here? Also, I just had a 4L rejected by them. I've sold 2 names with Brandpa and have been very happy with their customer service, but you can't reject a 4L at any level in my opinion. Very disappointing.

Innovation has won out, I started with Brandpa as a noobie, it was a very rough journey with lack of direction, I pledge all my efforts to SquadHelp now, they contribute to the survival of new domainers. Brandpa is too late due to lack of effort in the past. I do feel they are trying now. but too late for me. Sorry.

I have around 16 four letter on BP with around 6-7 four letter rejected , It totally depends on the name.

Is there any information about how many domains are published at BP?

You're right, there are many 4Ls out there that cannot be branded. I submitted e/x/z/l.com

I still think it's a premium 4L because it sounds similar to "excel" and has not been previously branded. For it to be outright rejected was a bit surprising IMO. I'll move onto BrandBucket.

That's domaining for you. Remember buying a domain I considered great, but it was rejected on all brand markets. I equally gave up on the name and allowed it to drop because for almost a year it had no view.

I was surprised to receive a congratulatory mail from Afternic about the sale of the domain. By then I have already dropped it and forgot to delist it from Afternic.

Not that I'm aware of at this

What was the domain if you don't mind me asking?

I am about to pull the remaining names I have there.

Traffic to my names has plummeted. I have a "hotness" score of well under 1.0 but the average is 1.9 I see. My names have been listed there 600 something days now. Only two sales, in the very beginning of that time. Since then - nothing. There are no way for me to see the stats of the names there other than their "last 90 days" stats, which provides some information, but not enough. Is it bot traffic, who knows. Cant see it. The ability to add google analytics to our listings would be incredibly valuable.

I also cant tell if people are making offers and seeing any sort of message indicating that their offer is too low. I would love for someone to try to make an offer for a name and get a message back, you're offer of X was not in the range that seller has set. Do you wish to increase your offer? At this point they could also offer us the ability to still receive the offer if its within, say, some percentage of our bottom line. I may be willing to sell a domain for 10-15% under my lowest price if I am not getting any offers on it for 600+ days and someone comes along with a decent offer (not a $10, $50, $75 lowball but an offer in a set percentage UNDER the floor price I have set).......

I've made those suggestions 18 months ago. They were well received but nothing came of it. Honestly, I think the time to exit is coming..... I can say that I gave it a shot there.

well, obv. this bad press will only fuel BP's efforts. So i'll probably stay there for a few.

I might stop adding names tehre tho...

the problem with adding names to SH is that they have no slack... so you can't sail on NP... which makes your domains illiquid.

BP has a great reseller platform where you can sail to other members for prices that you wouldn't even believe on nP.

SquadHelp has an entire wholesale aftermarket. it kills any other options with any other site. slack is nothing compared to an entire market of reseller prices on live branding site live premiums

Today I was warned by BrandPa not to sell their domains at NP for wholesale prices, even though I have masked domain. Is there any other place where you can sell BrandPa domains for wholesale prices without violating their terms?
