The Domain industry woke up with the news that a new dot-com was sold. Surprisingly it’s not your typical short, catchy - memorable domain. This domain has 63 letters and could easily be the longest recorded domain to be sold. I’m still trying to figure it out: Thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com

63 letters
Thats the max of any domain you CAN register, in case you didn't know, so yes its the longest. There may be others that have 63 letters, but this sold for 4 figs, so ya...

This domain has history, no? I think it used to be a website, it was talked about in another thread. Probably the reason it sold.

Another 63 domain sale mentioned here:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/63-character-domain-name-sold-for-800.967064/page-13

which was 9(x63).com

but domain sales of this character length are not common at all. The domain would definitely have to have something special about, to merit a sale.

In this case, The Longest List of the Longest etc etc likely sold because of it's history, as Lord Antares mentioned. It was a working website for many years. And because it sold through GD expired, it will keep its creation date, which is nice.

In the other case, of the $800 9(x63).com sale, it was purchased by an enthusiast, because in their eyes, 9 is the "highest" number combined with the max character count allowed in a domain name.

What is even more interesting about the 9....99.com domain name though, in my eyes, is that it's the OLDEST numerical-only 63 character domain name in existence!

Nice Ahrefs data for a 63 characters domain. This expired domain is linked by Wikipedia, The Guardian and many more. Pity that it is difficult to brandable, otherwise it would be perfect for a handful of spam on Google.
