The Hot & Steaming .CA TBR Leftovers are online:

This week's .CA TBR list increased slightly to just over 7.5K domains and the overall selection quality was an improvement from last week. Our Top Picks list didn't fare very well, as only one hit the Top 10, with some of the notable selections being...

Get Yer Knives and Forks!

A recent inquiry on a name that sounds like "smartlard".ca

"Registersting my laundry card

The woman was kind enough to leave her name and phone number.:xf.grin::xf.laugh::ROFL:

Anybody else got their application for the board in, too? I've applied for the membership slate once again, but am not sure how to actually reach voting members - the usual problem.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Weekly Picks for August 21 are Live:

The .CA numbers have finally moved above 8,000, but we’re still not seeing a commensurate jump in quality, especially in the LLL and single-word categories. Due to this, our Top Picks list is extremely short, and includes...

No, Greenland.ca is NOT for Sale!

Anyone know how long the HostPapa $4.99 .CA Sale is going on for?

Speak of the Devil, they just replied to me and it looks like the sale run through til tomorrow morning, like 9-10AM.

Damn, another rotten week, where I try to snag a few middle-of-the-road domains, and only end up getting my very last selection that I didn't want anyway.

Tomorrow I intend to take a bag of money out, toss it in the street and watch the kids run to pick it up - probably get more amusement out of it. :xf.frown:

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Results & Leftovers for August 21 have been posted:

This week’s .CA TBR list jumped back up over 8,000 domains and the overall quantity of single-words did increase compared to last week, although the quantity did not follow suit. Our Top Picks list was another mixed bag (I wanted to put ECRAN.CA in there, but French domains never rank high), and some of the notable top 10 selections included...

Bring Your Forks and Spoons Boys!

Okay, I know I had a tough week, but how the hell did I miss:

parthenon.ca

I love that stuff and I must have fallen asleep somewhere, and then woke up at a R's.

Nice to see a .ca lead the country code list in the newest DNJournal. Activate is the name and the gaming experience company already up and running on it. What do people think of the $15,882 price (I presume USD).?

DNJ quotes in USD, so basically that sale would have been the equivalent of $20K CAD + 5% GST.

Activate is a nice domain, already having a bunch of established businesses using variations of activate{word}.ca and many other activate{word}.ca variations registered, but not in use. I think at that price, neither sides were probably thrilled with it, but in the end it was a win-win situation for both.

Also interesting that it was sold at Uniregistry, as I have lots of .CAs there and never even a nibble in years and years - I wonder if this domain was owned or otherwise attached to Uniregistry or it was just a random sale.

Some of the peeps in this thread are voting members. I would also assume that CIRA itself would have a list of members for those who are running. If not they are shoddier than I thought.

It is easy and free to become a voting member, for those who aren't already.
Becoming a member and voting for a like-minded candidate is possibly more effective than griping about shill bidding and auction house bidding, here on NP.

Noticed there was a "plethora" (love that word) of EMD and Geos picked up fast..

Definitely, and I went back to get a few after the run and they were long gone.

I've got tons, but they're probably too esoteric for you.

Wow

Plethora from @briguy & esoteric from you

HeHe, its a good morning today

You can PM me a list in strict confidence if you like.

A lot of members will tell you that I contact them at random from their lists as I decide what I want.

I'm still the guy actually paying money for the domains.

Only got partway through the TBR list this morning, but one domain certainly stood head and shoulders above the rest....

Do these overly-cute, word-play domains ever work, sell or get developed?

For example, I found a pile of them on this week's TBR, like this one:

OvaryActing.ca

I personally think they're a big waste of registration fees, but hey, what do I know.

From a CIRA email today. Please join and ask lots of questions.

"As a CIRA member, you play an important role in helping shape our organization and helping us in our mission of building a better online Canada. In September, you’ll have the opportunity to vote in our board of directors election, but it’s never too early to think about what you should you be looking for.

To start you off, here’s three questions to consider when voting for CIRA’s board.

But we know the best candidate for your vote goes far beyond that, and we want to make sure you can ask your questions.

CIRA hosts a campaign forum, one week before the start of voting, to introduce you the candidates. While you won’t know the candidates until September 18, a week before you cast your vote, you can start thinking about the issues that matter most to you and the questions you want to ask to help determine your vote.

Do you have a question that you can’t wait to ask? Don’t wait, you can submit your questions now!

We are collecting questions for the candidates through Social Q&A. You can ask your questions anonymously and up-vote the questions you want answered. Candidates will then provide their answer on the forum from September 18 to September 25, 2019."
