Hi Friends,
I am Adi from India, I have been selling domains for about year.
I want your opinion on a tool that I am working on.

I am building a tool to track any domain's status change.
From my minimal experience in flipping individual domains, I have wanted to keep tabs on a domain's status changes and updates. I even tried a few tools that are available, few of them are too costly for my simple need or have too many features that I might never use.

What do you think of this idea, would you be interested in such a tool.
If you have any suggestions please let them known. Thank You

I'd be interested if it's for free. Even if it is only simple and without any bloat.

Sure, thanks for your interest, I will update on it when there's a bit of development.

You could do this with a registrar's api
Epik allows you to check if one (or multiple) domain(s) are available.
And you can retrieve your domain's whois

Building a useful tool is always good. I'm also working on a couple tools atm.

I've been a web developer plus other related roles over the last 30+ years so I've seen way too many good tools die after a short period because they aren't worth working on.

How useful a tool is will determine if it lasts. Most of the time, those who find it useful will be willing to pay for it to support the effort to keep it current.

It's very difficult to keep a tool current when you just give it away for no return, The developer needs to pay bills and likely has other projects that do pay and there isn't any time left to work on the free tool.

I think the best approach is to use a Freemium model.

"Freemium, a portmanteau of the words "free" and "premium", is a pricing strategy by which a product or service (typically a digital offering or an application such as software, media, games or web services) is provided free of charge, but money (premium) is charged for additional features, services, or virtual (online) or physical (offline) goods."
