The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
To answer my question for myself, if anybody is interested. Dynadot and Name backorder .biz domains. Anyone else?

3 years ago, I had backordered toko.biz at godaddy. :Toko" means "shop" in Indonesian.

We’re in the process of adding support for .me, .vc, and other ccTLDs right now for Backordr.com. We will be adding support down the road for .biz domains and other similar extensions.

Currently Dynadot does a great job backordering .biz.

There are lots of good .biz domains out there, which in my opinion lowers the value of them. Generally people don't trust .biz domain websites as much as .com, .net, .org, CLD's and even new TLD's - which is why I don't register them. Of course, there's always the exception for short one-worders.

Club/biz would definitely be an exception!

Really don't see the appeal unless the name is killer. Most consumers and small businesses are oblivious to that extension. Would need to be B2B with a very defined niche.

I use my own python script to catch extensions supported by Dynadot, Enom, Namesilo and Internetx.

Well, I used Name.com for .biz domain backorder.
They successfully caught it for me back in 2015.
The domain is a premium one word LLLL .biz, so there were probably many other registrars who were competing on registering the domain.

Sadly, They changed how the backorder process works on name.com:
Quote: "Note: We only allow one backorder to be placed per domain name and the domain must already have a set drop date."

It was possible to place a backorder for any domain in the past.
Normal status, redemption period etc.
It is no longer possible since a few years ago, more or less.

Even if I see most domainers recommend not investing on .biz, that does look promising in my eyes(maybe try to underprice it). Good luck with it!

Any SLD (second-level domain), with any extension should be judged on its' individual merits. There are an endless number of factors which can be included, but for example a top ten list of key factors can give you a relatively quick ballpark valuation - although it's ultimately the buyer who decides the value, as many NPers regularly point out

The .biz gTLD (generic top-level domain) is not, in my opinion a very easy domain to judge. Looking at the last 100 websites I visited not one had a .biz extension. Trust is a key factor. How many .biz websites do you genuinely trust? I'm assuming this somehow plays into Google's ranking algorithm but can't be sure.

I recently registered my first .biz domain from data research at Expired Domains, on the strength of several factors:
  1. The SLD keywords are high-value
  2. The SLD is registered in at least 30 other extensions
  3. Relevant past sales show significant historic and recent sales between $1,000 and $25,000
  4. Having never registered a .biz I looked at all .biz sales above $100 in the past year from NameBio: 80 sales, dollar volume $42,500, average sale price $530, standard deviation $771. Some very good SLD's in .biz sold for very little in the past year. Taxi.biz sold for $1,364 in April 2019. If you go back 5 years the figures are higher but not by a lot; 926 sales, dollar volume $610,000, average sale price $659, standard deviation $1,360.
So to sum it up I'm interested in the data, not the opinion (although people make good points). Based on the data provided I made a business decision to buy a .biz and I don't regret it.

What is the reason some registrars can successfully back order domains with a higher success rate than other registrars?

What is the reason some registrars can successfully back order domains with a higher success rate than other registrars?

Most registrars which have a backorder option are using multiple accredited sub registrars to achieve higher drop catching success rate.
Here is an example(some of name.com registrars):
"Name.com, Inc. 2013 United States
Name.net, Inc. 2013 United States
Name104, Inc. 2013 United States
Name105, Inc. 2013 United States
Name106, Inc. 2013 United States
Name107, Inc. 2013 United States
Name108, Inc. 2013 United States
Name109, Inc. 2013 United States
"
You can see the DropCatch has significantly higher number of registrars than name.com and this is why they can issue more registration requests than most other backorder services(They have an higher success rate).
