So just listed a few minutes ago on NameBio is a sale on Flippa of what seems to be 3.com for $3100. I can't find any other single digit number .com sales in NameBiio. Is this really a sale, or is it some sort of IDN? I would have thought a single digit would go for much more than that and did not know they were even released in .com. @Michael

I just thought of the obvious thing to do and used DT to check Whois. 3.com is registered (since Jan 1992) but is listed as RESERVED which I take to mean that no one can own it and sell it.

There are only 6 original TLD single character domains. They are all grandfathered from the days before they became restricted.

q.com
x.com
z.com
i.net
q.net
z.org

At this point any single character ENGLISH non-IDN is liquid wholesale in 7+ figures range

It's a waste x.com is not used atm. Expensive purchase to merely display an x or an y :)

This is actually not true. There are at least a handful of .org in use, u.org, c.org, b.org, a.org...

Edit: Apparently a bunch of these were auctioned in 2013 through Project94.

I contacted @Michael and he removed from Namebio so this situation is closed. It was an IDN, it's not on Namebio.

$3100 is not bad for a single character IDN.

A single character IDN dot com posted here at NamePros not long ago couldn’t even sell for $22.

Yet it is still useless domain, unless it's a character on random keyboard IMO.

The problem with IDNs is they require education to everyone person who wishes to land on the page.

“You enter this then you type this....” &etc.

lol .. I didn't see your edit and came back here to mention I forgot the Project 94 .org domains .. lol

That being said .. my statement regarding the 7+ figure liquid pricing was only for the .com's. Not saying the others couldn't possibly reach 7 figure .. but certainly no "+" after the 7.

What's going on with o.com these days? Seems there was talk it might be released?

Thank you. I am wondering if NameBio could not show it this way, or in some other way, clearly indicate IDN for domain sales.

3.cymru I actually had never even heard of dot cymru until now. (Namebio lists zero sales for .cymru) I'd imagine it's not worth much, it follows along the same practice that some domainers follow of registering every possible extension of a domain that has sold thinking that all the extensions for that name are valuable - most often: not the case!

Yes, I needed to review this as well.

It's one of the GeoTLDs.

"A GeoTLD (geographic TLD) is a top-level domain in the Domain Name System of the Internet using the name of or invoking an association with a geographical, geopolitical, ethnic, linguistic or cultural community."

".cymru is one of two geographic top level domains (GeoTLD) for Wales (the other being .wales). The TLD was proposed by the British internet registry company Nominet, which has run the domain for the UK (.uk) since 1996."

Its not the number "3"

Thanks to fellow namepros members.

Yes, people do register other extensions of a popular sale in anticipation but in this case, I live in the valleys of South Wales not far from the Welsh capital of Cardiff. I have seen how the government here is promoting the Welsh language for fear of its extinction as the new generation are not too keen on using the language in the South. The Welsh language is more functional in North Wales.

I am holding this name in anticipation that any of those programmes might fit into '3.cymru'.
More so, the mobile phone network '3' is very big in the UK. Who knows one day...!
