Looking for some names I've found interesting domains available to hand reg which the previous recent owner was HugeDomains. Apparently, they acquired the domains through DropCatch or GD closeouts.

Does anybody know if HugeDomains sometimes drops some of their names?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
SystemBots.com it's a very good name if you can get it through hand reg. Did you find those names through DropCatch too?

No I don't use DropCatch to register domains as I avoid auctions except on rare occasions.

I have picked up one or two good domains after they have dropped from HD.

They are dropping names. I picked up CarVideoSystem.com the other day which they used to own. Plenty of others.

The good thing about picking up a drop from them is you know pricing that didn't work over possibly a good few years.

So it's time to price low, perhaps $399 or something to tempt an affiliate site builder or small business. SystemBots.com was another I picked up from their drops, I will price it low.

Some say it's too late to get good domains but on the contrary, the game is just beginning!

Did you pick it through Dropcatch pre-Release or at expiredomains?

Depends on the domain name. Very good domains might get overbid at the last moment. So you need to watch them at close time. But I win most of the domains I want for $10. (Which might say more about my choices, than the competition :)

Can I send pm?

Beginner here: is dropped name SAME as expired?

For .com domains they DROP 76 days after EXPIRY, provided they are not renewed, or purchased in a PRE-RELEASE Auction at places like GoDaddy, Snapnames, or other Registrar Expiring Auctions.

I registered or bought from close out. Letter checked HD owned these previously. Yes they drop domains.

Yes I am seeing them drop like crazy now. I picked up BakingTimes dot com which they used to own. Price increases are only a year away so let's see what happens.

Any decent domain will be caught by a drop catcher though. Hand reg is only going to get the dregs. Remember, these dropping domains have already been scoured, at GoDaddy, SnapNames, NameJet PRE-RELEASE AUCTIONS. You'll need a magic wand to find a quality dropping domain, beat DropCatch, SnapNames, NamJet, and many others, but those are the big three, catching it in the millisecond it drops, before you will have any chance of hand regging it. As a general observation. Hand-regging a dropped domain is almost impossible these days. It was already old-school in 2018. It's pretty much dead waste of time, now. Of course there will always be the odd exceptions, but not enough to make a strategy out of it. IMHO.

Agreed you need a drop catcher for a really good one, but there are still a good few are available for hand-reg. On the HD drops, they are not competing, so you have a clear run on these. A lot is going to come down to their criteria for dropping.

I just bought a domain (GD closeout) which HugeDomains bought it from GD auction at 610 USD last year.

Not necessarily. A lot of their names could be EASILY sold for their asking prices with a little outbound marketing. The number of companies that have the .net version of a .com within their inventory is massive. Many companies have no clue. I've contacted HD several times proposing a revenue split, but they have always denied the opportunity.

Which registrar is HD using ? Where is most of their domain parked?

Good point. I've only done outbound on a few occasions.

Sounds like you may have hit upon some low hanging fruit.

They have hundreds if not thousands of registrars, NameBright I believe is their main retail one.

They use a variety of parking methods but I believe they mostly use their own for sale pages. If you visit their website you can see what they are doing with the domains.

A few from week ended 17.11.2019

GamerBucket.com (free)
SuperRelaxed.com
RunnerPlanet.com
MarketTab.com

I went for MarketTab.com from the list. I thought SuperRelaxed.com was good. Ironically RunnerPlanet.com was picked up by DropCatch.

Go to DropCatch.com's and checkout their Pre-Release domains. These are all HugeDomains (or their famly) dropping domains. Most of them drop. You can buy them for regfee, well $10.
Thanks for pointing that pre-release option of dropcatch out. Just did a check but eventually, it's still an auction starting at $10 and means if any other person interested in the same domain, the auction price could drive up to a premium range fee.

Auction is a 50/50 game.

Yes, they do. In my daily research for Expired domains for SEO, I do come across quite a number of them and at some point have picked some up too. Still came across one while researching yesterday.

I let a domain drop foolishly that was acquired by HD. I kept the plural but should have kept the singular as well. Think - bluewidget.com and bluewidgets.com :banghead:

I want to develop it soon (probably the plural but need the singular as well). I guess I am lucky in some ways that HD got it as I have two options:

1.) Watch it drop - I believe HD does drop some domains after x years as I have aquired some formerly registered by HD
2,) Buy it on a payment plan while my site is earning money.

Also, if anyone *else* buys the singular they will likely need mine (no trademarks here to worry about!) before they can make a decent effort at it!

Does HD have a way of checking whois queries? I have only visited 'bluewidget.com' once to check the price... the usual $2.5k

I have added the domain to domaintools watchlist.. in the past they have renewed it days before expiration.. we will see!

Good Luck. If it's really as good as bluewidget.com I'd be surprised it only at $2,500. If it is, I would not expect to re-see it drop. You can check the quality of their drops by going to dropcatch.com and watch their pre-release domains. Most are not that good. IMHO. So if you are intent on development, I'd consider paying up for the domain, and begin your development today, rather than x years in the future. Which might be 5-10 years away. Or never. YMMV.

Check: andy brock in king. I couldn't sell it, and they will have hard time selling it. Wonder if they'll let it go and cut their losses. Expires today.

6 years after my quote they still have that domain.
I dropped it after 1 year. Will they drop it after 8 years? ~ 2 weeks to go for a drop.
