A lot of my focus has been Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the years and I sell quite a few .COM & .AE names to mainly UAE end-users. MENA is not a common term used in businesses and even less popular in domains. This doesn't mean a name will never sell as your saw with coinmena but it is very unlikely and not advisable to go and buy MENA names, even names similar to coinmena as some people will start doing.

@gilescoley can you shield more light on Dubai market for Geo domain and what is Dubai end user respond to outbound? What are the common business use terms? Hope I don't ask too much

I dont really sell GEO names, I have mainly sold tech, emerging tech and sport names. They are really fussy when it comes to domains and will happily make you wait weeks and months sometimes before making an offer or agreeing on a price. The majority of businesses do prefer .com over .ae though. The majority of my sales have been outbound sales.

when registering MENA domains try to think of a domain where you are not pigeon holed into just the middle east north africa niche.

mena at the end can be a good brandable in which cash you can get back your reg fee plus some profit.

I like generic big umbrella terms. like one I just reg now.

Thanks. Did not think of that. I did a search for all domains containing MENA (general search meaning the positioning was anywhere) and found over 14,000+ domains. How many of those were where MENA was in the middle? probably alot come to think of it.
