Can anyone help me find statistics on the success differences When using "The" at the beginning of the name and when not using it? I have searched NamePros but can't seem to find a previous thread on it. Nor Google.

I will give the details, including the name as I get frustrated trying to give advice on a name and the OP will not give the name.

I had the owner of the site TheScholarshipShark /// com reach out to me via Efty for my name ScholarshipShark (same extension) I had it listed with a BIN of $1750. He offered $100. I countered with $1500 and he walked away. I want to develop my remarketing effort to him, surrounding the the advantage of the name upgrade.

Specifically I am trying to find any stats about how many type ins look for a site and DO NOT include "the" in the name, sending the possible customer to another website.

Does anybody know where I can find stats like this or any other advice on how to show him the value of this upgrade?

Thank in advance!!!

To buy "the" for the second hand market is a risk as you know full well it is not anyone's first choice.

Agreed, but that is not the question. The end user already owns the "the" version of the name. I own the true version of it. I am looking for stats and or other advice to use in my premarket to him why he is hurting himself using the "the" version.

They also own strategic/college/coaching//com so it's unlikely they mind the longer domain.

I think your domain is better than what they're using but by the looks of it this shouldn't be the enduser your're targeting. I would be surprised if they pay more than low $xxx.

That being said. It really depends on the name. Sometimes using 'the' in front of it just sounds/looks better. There's no general rule.

Mention the example of TheFaceBook which got rebranded to FaceBook as per the movie SocialMedia.

Also, give the option of monthly payments just to encourage the sale, if you're ok with it.

I had one recent small sale, successfully converted bargain buyer on Efty lander to DAN on a payment plan.

Good luck!

"The" in front of your actual brand is decidedly old school in 2019, and you can try that angle (as well using as the aforementioned "TheFacebook.com" example) to try to promote it, but personally, I would just thank the guy for the offer, and let it go.

A $100 offer is extremely insulting and you don't want to get too far into with this kind of cut-rate buyer. All you will do is create antipathy, and the best you can go hope for is that the guy buys himself a brain or that hopefully there is someone else at the company who can make a more sound business decision.

But $100 for a core brand .COM - that's like punching you in the face.

You don't have to do any remarketing. Sit on your name and wait. In fact, increase the price a bit and sit on it. he will come back at the right time.

Domains don't really need marketing. Users knows how to locate names they need. Fortunately you owns the real deal. If you go on pressuring, you will short sell yourself.
