just to name a few ! what's with this absurd redemption fee?

also have token/world app

it was a tie between token and wallet world which one i liked best!

I thought, the redemption didn't kick in until day 30? and even if so why SO HIGH on .APP?

When using GoValue last night, a $25,000 sale of nomad (.app) came up as a comparator sale. It is in use by the end user, and appears to have been sold at least in February. I provide what I was able to find in this post. The sale would be at least the second largest on NameBio if it were listed there. If anyone knows more, please add.

I noticed on ntldstats that there are 40,000 .APP domains that are pending delete. https://ntldstats.com/tld/app

That's up from 30,000 that was quoted yesterday.

I wonder how many are going to drop and how this compares to the state of some of the other gTLDs after their first year of registrations.

With a largely Western market (as opposed to a Chinese market dominated gTLD), the first renewal rate may be in the region of 70%. There is a considerable Chinese market share on the gTLD so the renewal rate on that part of .APP will be lower. The .APP first renewal/deletion cycle is just starting and the actual percentages won't stabilise for another six months. The usual gTLD lifecycle has a 45 day period for the renewal/deletion process and ICANN will publish the June 2019 registry reports in September/October 2019. I'm not sure if there have been any renewal offers by the registry to its registrars.

We're up to 79,905 pending delete .APP names now according to ntldstats.com

Not as many as I expected... I think... :clown: but it is 17% of total registrations

I notice that women.app has become available but is not registrable... is the registry holding domains back?

In fact there appears to be loads of .app domains that appear to have come available that cannot be registered now. Does anyone know if the registry is holding names back?

That is strange indeed.
Whois information shows that women.app is available for registration, but you cant register it anywhere. Same with some other names which i checked.
Does anyone know how this is possible?

I just chatted with someone from domains.google, but didnt really get a good answer:
The answer i got back: "There is a probability that the registry is not allowing the domain name to be registered by anyone."

Would be good if .app registration shows which names are not available for registration..

Registry is allowed to hold 300 for itself, i think that's the number. This is why google is nTLDs, they have some good extensions. They'll keep many of the best names then adjust their search algo to benefit this positioning with emd spanning the dot domains that they develop, ranking easily IMO without anyone able to argue that they flooding top results with their pages.

@Rob Monster

Can you clarify or add insight to what's going on with the recent .app drops, from the registrar level?

It appears the registry is holding the drops from the first year.

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks

You have heard of the Baby Boom? Well, this is the opposite -- we have seen it on the horizon for .APP for months. DNW covered it here:

https://domainnamewire.com/2019/04/01/the-app-junk-drop-is-coming/

What is surprising is that Google did not do a follow-on campaign to make sure a lot of these names get picked up.

I think the sell-through for speculators for this TLD was perhaps harder than some expected.

There is one requirement for .APP and that is you need an SSL. With Epik that is a trivial requirement since we give you a free 4096 bit SSL with every domain on a parking lander like this:

https://laptopcomputers.com/

I will ask @Sufyan Alani if we can get a deal with .APP registry. Would .APP dropcatching be interesting for anyone? We are talking bulk buys in the hundreds per customer assuming a price point in the $1-3 range.

Thanks Rob!

To answer the question above, yes, I would be interested in drop catching .app's.

Speaking for myself, I feel there could be some gems in there and was eagerly awaiting the drops, along with some others I suspect.

I only have a handful of .apps yet I have recieved more offers on .app than all other extensions excluding .Com.

IMO, .app is not dead or even slowing. I feel it's only heating up.......again, IMO.
