.uk .UK domain name release

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Is anyone registering .UK domains? They opened registration for anyone and there's a bunch of great one-word domains up for grabs. I haven't heard much about this extension on this forum and wanted to know all of your take.

UK residents already owning the .CO.UK extension received first dibs of its equivalent but now it's open registration. These .UK names seems to be much more better and catchy than .co.uk, but we'll see how things go. I suppose it's still too early to say.

There's still many great domains up for grab.

Yes flying for a .uk but some names have been going for bargains this is all a buying frenzy and will slow down soon...

I don't reckon it's long before there are half page ads in papers selling domains Eg one of the two major players in numberplates etc and when one does both will start advertising domains in the papers for silly dough prices which will really start the uk domain name sector going

Yes it is patchy but a lot of these premium .uk domains will be developed and I think they'll continue getting good prices. Nominet should have stuck with the old system which worked well and these prices are only at the expense of the .co.uk market which has definitely been damaged. Time will tell as to which one comes out on top.

Spot the odd one out

. De

. Fr

. Es

. It

. Co.uk (is everything lol)

.we are going

.uk

But when eventually people start wanting a. uk Website address

The prices quoted will cost more than a house

And the choices will be

Not bother

Rebrand

Or pay the going rate for a

.uk

. uk owners will say to prospective buyers

You can always buy the matching. Com

Knowing that the. Com will cost millions lol

Which company tried it?

a few even a guy set up at marketing events a stall selling domains and the results didn’t go very well releasing .uk isn’t going to boost sales it’s just another renewal cost for all of the big investors like my self.

But co.uk sales are still hot !

That's some portfolio

It's good to see a uk domain name investor with a large portfolio because there are domain name investors in the states but many won't have as good an understanding as yourself of the uk market as well as. Com etc

Want to manage my portfolio?

I won the domain TRACE UK at Wizedrop this evening. Happy with that one. The first time that I've used Wizedrop. Has anyone here bought any .UK names there ?

Nope never heard of them also never seen them catch anything....

It was a smooth transaction at Wizedrop. I'm happy with their fast service, as I already have the domain. They have a slightly different way of bidding in my opinion. If you bid your maximum, I think that is what the price becomes, and I may have outbid myself lol. I'm a happy customer though. Vapes is being sold their tomorrow.

Obviously do your own research before bidding anywhere. I would highlight again that the bidding process on that particular website is probably different to most, in my opinion. If you go in with your best price, it looks like the price instantly goes to that price. So do your own research. Obviously, I'm happy as I received my name quickly. Do your own research though.

As many in this thread are uk domain name investors and or it discusses
uk domain names etc

There is a need for a

Digital citizens advice service

In the uk

Eg a digital pawnbrokers

Even if there was a thread on namepros as such that allows uk domain name investors to borrow money against their domain names in times of financial need without having to sell their digital assets

Because it's a complete waste of time trying to tell traditional organisations like universal credit or citizens advice that you need a loan etc for a variety of reasons Eg to pay a mortgage payment or months rent or new secondhand car to get to work etc and prepared to use your digital assets Eg domain names as collateral etc

They haven't got a clue what you'd be talking about

They just refer you to traditional out of date defunct links which achieve absolutely nothing and it wastes everyone's time in the process

It would be much easy to have a thread that allows a person to pawn a domain name or two in exchange for Sameday cash from a panel of domain name investors who understand their values etc

The panel should be made up of people with accounts at Domainlore

The uk Auction website for domains

Consisting of

domain name brokers

Domain name flippers

A couple of registrars

A couple of brandable market places

And domain name investors

Where people seeking to raise money from. Their domain names Can simply post the domain in such a thread and people on here just post what they think the domain name is worth and how much they would lend against it

Such a service would stop domain name investors that are currently in debt because they cannot use their digital assets which no one understands to pay off traditional existing debt

It's the future
