I am excited to see what are the improvisations from their platform now.

Please share your opinions.

@Reza

I hope you will improve your search filters to show up brandable/made-up names related to the searched keyword.

for ex.

searching: doctor marijuana
shows only domains that contain both keywords: doctor and marijuana
no brandable/made-up results at all

DAN.COM needs improved coding, i.e. a long domain name display on cell phone is oddly split in the middle of a word on to a second line. On Desktop a long name may have the name ending which is white display on a white background area of page making it hard to read.
How many characters are we speaking here?

If its above 20 then sir, your domain won't get any sale, trust me.

Quite contrary - it will be easier for average Joe. No need for technical complications anymore. It is very very promising, and I hope it will be a next big thing for the whole domaining industry.

I think that they ARE very careful to always look from the angle of average Joe.

Spot on indeed Raimond. We interview buyers continuously to identify the friction points they encounter and fix them on or market. That's why our marketplace performs very well in terms of conversions because out product team keeps improving the entire purchase and sale flow from A to Z.

As a domain investor, I appreciate the light speed payment when I sell a domain, usually less than 24 hours. No other platform does that. The dashboard is extremely easy to use.

PAYMENT RECEIVED

Takes much longer than 24hrs. I'm put a few domains in there to see if what everyone says is true. I don't believe it until I experience it. Sold a godaddy domain, transfer was fast, but Undeveloped(DAN), cant get kudos for that; that's Godaddy.

But, the payment so far counting 4 days (2 business days, 2 weekend day) in total, today would be the fifth since the sale of the name; Payment has not been sent.

So, yeah if your getting paid in less than 24hrs, your probably on the fav list or something.

If the payment hasn't been sent there's definitely something wrong with either that transaction or your account. Contact support...

Sent 3 emails, got 1 reply.
"payment will be sent 24hrs after notifications are sent out"

So the question is , when are notifications sent out- 2hrs, 2 days or more?

Their is no transparency, when it comes to payments. It almost seems like your freesytling.
At this point, I surrender, the payment comes when the payment comes.

Can you PM me the transaction in question please? I'd love to review the transaction personally.

Received payment. Updated the first post.

They are usually quick with payments, if you haven't received a message or payment update - do leave them a message on chat box or transaction box.

I sold a name a hour back and it was transferred within 5 minutes - no other platform does that.

RE: DAN.COM needs improved coding, i.e. a long domain name display on cell phone is oddly split in the middle of a word on to a second line.....

Actually it can be fewer than 20, on my cell the maximum number of characters is just 14 to 18 depending on the width of individual letters, or 18 to 22 characters if you count a 3 letter extension with the dot.

This needs fixing as there are valuable names which are 14 characters or more in length.

DAN can fix it by using a smaller font size if a mobile display is detected. Long domains display fine on other platforms I have seen.

Mind automatically starts working in both ways( -ve aspects as well of +ve aspects) whenever any change happens around. It is same in case of Dan.com, but at the end of the days all -ves (imo) are going away as this name a real strong one with a great appeal. Now it is multipurpose name and they can mold it into any additional business. Good thinking by the management and they are on a roll here.

Can you apply the instalment payment option to selected names only? Thanks.

I feel the same, mentioned it in the other thread, I hate seeing stupid 1 star reviews showing at the top for many hours, especially as they are garbage reviews but may put off buyers. However, dan said they feel it's a positive that overall they have so many 5 star reviews so it is as it is.

I just tried purchasing a domain with a dan.com make offer page landing page.

We agreed upon a price.

Funds sent.

Transfer information sent.

Then I get a refund from Dan, with an explanation that the seller had let the domain expire and was unable to deliver.

Is this common practice at Dan.com?

Well, it's not Dan's fault but the sellers'

It is not unthinkable at any sales platform. You even see Brandbucket and similar marketplace names drop. Normally they are picked up relatively fast, but with Dan.com, Afternic, Sedo etc this would not always be the case.

I assume you also had situations where you bought a name on auction or regged a name and then found out the name is already listed somewhere. This would be no different.

Agreed.

Minus this hick-up, the buyer experience, and transfer communication with a Dan representative, was painstakingly easy. So easy, I'd love to do it again! Except, next time I buy from Dan, I hope they can deliver as right now, I'm 0 for 1.

Simply curious if being unable to deliver is as common at Dan as it is at other large marketplaces like Sedo and Afternic, where old listings and refunds are not uncommon.

E.g. something like X amount of time verification checks would help cut down on. Though, a definite benefit to the buying experience, it might be a hinderence to the selling experience, having to periodically verify which domains are still owned and are actually listed for sale by owner or authorized seller.

Dan tends to do a lot of micro transactions, domains that are flipped, dropped, sold quickly, and the sellers have to be really careful in renoving.

Otherwise Dan as a platform is moving in the right direction in trying to automate, and payment, and transfer quickly. I would recommend they try to acquire a registry, it might make things really easy for them.

I get it.

And I've been the seller who let a domain expire before. Marketplace refunded the BIN to the buyer and cancelled my seller account. One difference being, the domain was forwarded to hugedomains (listed for more money) at the time, when a buyer purchased it at a different marketplace, one that required you to have have your domain pointed at their landing page. If that marketplace would have pulled my listing based off their metrics (as it had been pointed away from their marketplace for quite some time) they could have removed my listing months before the buyer purchased an expired listing.

I can't say I recall negotiating a domain that I wasn't in possession in. As usually, I check to ensure ownership before counter offers and what not.

Nonetheless, my frustration, although rooted in an unfulfilled acquisition of a domain I had high hopes for, is also about verification checks. Understandably this is an Industry wide problem due to yearly "leases" and quick overturn, I feel extra verification checks, either for everyone, or for those who have a history of unfulfilled listings within their marketplace, would help the buyer experience.

BrandBucket, I think, is one of the leading larger marketplaces in their ability to deliver domains based on their verifications. I'm sure some slip through the cracks, given BB redirects can be nameserver based just as Dan can be, which can confusingly leave old listings redirected.

If for instance, any time a domain were to lapse an expiration, even if just for one day, a system triggered the delisting, sent automated email, or halted the listing based on registration status, until reverification occurred confirming the domain is still for sale, or whatever the flagged issue was, had been fixed. This, with the help of a daily bulk WHOIS tool to check for expirations, and changes, might be a huge task, and it may make more work for sellers, but overall, I think more checks and balances will lead to an overall better experience for all.
