advice What's Your Biggest Current Challenge in Domain Investing?

I may do another AMA chat or some blog posts and wanted to see if the same problems i run into buying and selling domain names, are everyone elses biggest issues.

If you could take a second and post or pm me (in which case i will keep you name confidential) your biggest 1-3 challenges, or "pain points" as they say in the internet marketing biz.

What are you having trouble with, what do you need some advice on or new solutions and services.

As an appreciation for the time, ill send you 10 Topcoin (TPC) for any replies.

I'll start

Registry and registrar sites not working correctly on the basics.

More and more names are showing available, only to not be "on further review", mostly in the new tlds and premium names.

So hopefully godaddy was temporary last week but not being able to access my names, when i needed to, or have constant trouble with the bulk updates maybe happening or maybe not has been a frustration.

Enom is the biggest culprit, the were are aware of downgraded performance sign has been up for a year, and since we get names at enom form namejet, its a big deal.

Dynadot seems to have fixed their latency issue on registrations, i think the $6.99 special must have brought a heavy load.

And lastly im not sure i trust every search now for availability, as all the paths and feeds that go into an availability search may not be delivering pristine results, (moe on this in a future post)

all extensions other than com were created for the people who missed out on the king so the they created all the rest including .app btw to make more $ on the non commers

its simply a marketing ploy designed to take your $. how much $ has been spent on all the extensions other than com that failed to produce one dome for domainers trying to sell them?

how many websites other than com have been developed?

nets and org are to follow but id love to know the stats on how many sites are developed and up with say mobi app one info club etc etc etc ad infinitum

com is and always be #1 the rest r just wannabes and will never come anywhere close to the coms majesty!

This also used to be my major headache. But no more.
Like I've posited elsewhere on NP, over-reliance on marketplaces where you can't have an influence may not always be in your best interest.

The most productive scenario is to setup your own marketplace/portfolio with lander and direct potential buyers to other 22 marketplaces from one single POS (point of sale). See my signature.

I'm going to do this as well. I already have a site but have rebranded twice already. but will rebrand with some new software and the domain name BrandEntrance.

Trying to get a domainlore account

Because my email is not recognised by domainlore

It's perfect for Godaddy and flippa but not domainlore

Which is causing problems as I have. uk Website addresses and that is the place to sell them but not being able to get an account there due to email difficulties

Just a fun joke about my life after 4 hours of hunting domains
My biggest challenges in domain Investing are :
1>Letting parents believe in me and making profit from domains.
When i quit my daily job to work as a full-time domainer, i didn't tell my parents. ( in Oriental family, parents want their son/daughter works in big companies than start up projects or becoming a freelancer. So my parents were shocked when i told them i quit my job).
When i realized that this industry needed more money to invest before i could earn something, i decided to live with my parents. So i moved to their home, made my bedroom as my base. Since this time, they knew that their son became a hippy guy (no real job, no pay-roll, just sit down in front of the Laptop and work).
I remembered that my father always told me when he went to my base " hmmm, this job will never lead you to any successful, son. How can you success with your bad English abilities ? How can you become the top if you start later than the others 15-20 years ? "
I just said " Believe me, and give me 2 years to change my life".
After that, i worked like a miner - Mining every sources i can to get domains, form morning to mid-night, day to day, in 2 years.
And after 2 years of hard-working, i failed. Getting lost nearly $30k ( in Viet Nam, people just earn $2k5 per year in average).
I cried so much then i asked my parents " give me another year with a loan, i will return your loan within 5 years". They shocked but they till decided to give me the second chance.
"If you want something bad enough, you will find the way to do it". And yes, i sat down, thought about which worked and which didn't in this industry. I re-plan my investing tactic, hired my brother as a part-time staff, and this time, all things work!
Now i'm looking forward to get $150k in sales this year.
My father still goes to my base after his breakfast and tells me " Hey, you just earn $5k this month, too bad, son. This industry is good for you and you can be the top. Wake up and working as a miner now! ".
2>Describing people about my job.
After 2.5 years living in my base, my portfolio started to get profit, then it was time to go out, meet people and breath fresh air. People often ask me that i am doing for living.
- When i said i worked as a domain investor, they thought about Stocks, Bonds.
- When i said i worked as a domain - an online real-estate - investor, they thought about Lands, Houses, Apartments.
- Then i said i invested in domains - somethings like real estates in the internet and need Hosting + WordPress to work, they thought about hackers.
- So i said i invested in domains - somethings like real estates in the internet and need Hosting + WordPress to work and need some Branding, Marketing skills, they thought about Marketing/Branding consultants.
So after being tired about those question, i just said " i'm an unemployment guy". If people don't believe me, i just say "Porn".

Yeah, great passing off your junk to newbies. That was the big surprise when I entered this as a hobby. The objective of certain brokers, certain news blogs, a certain “School”, and certain video series all designed to increase the volume of wholesalers of a “dream” and to pump up expectations. Liquidity comes with volume, and this business has no such real volume. It makes very little to no business sense if you don’t target end users. Reminds me somewhat of MLM, which I never got involved. Amway, Mary Kay, Herbal Life... ha. The new gtlds did the same, selling a dream. Meanwhile, The platforms and Registrars get rich.

Thanks for this. I'm inspired. I have this line of thought. I'm a newbie, I make mistakes, I learn more everyday. I find it hard to explain to friends what I'm doing too

Thats not entirely true either. Yes, .com will be king, but the newer generations will not be growing up with ONLY the 3 main extensions like we did. They will grow up with 100s of .whatevers, and those sites will be popular, but in order to get them popular they will have to eventually buy more domains, and .com is the obvious choice, to either brand the site, or to forward it to the .whatever name.
