Don Lemon began battling with his inner self the night the 2016 election ended, he continues to battle with his inner self every night on television, and they actually pay him to do it.

Appeals court gives Trump a win in sanctuary city case

https://www.yahoo.com/news/appeals-court-gives-trump-win-220324640.html

I hope the raid that is supposed to happen today is successful, and only the beginning of sweeps of illegal immigrants.

Sanctuary cities are breaking Federal law, harboring illegal immigrants is against the law of land, Get em!

I can see some of this, but I think the kids who were brought here by adult family members should have a path to citizenship ... not their fault they ended up here.

Bigger problem than illegal crossings is those who come here on legal visas and stay. There are a lot more of those than there are border crossers. Get a visa, enter the country and disappear. How many of them are working for a foreign government? Or hid their affiliation with some terrorist group well enough to get the initial visa? We need to get a handle on that - its a security risk.

Only issue on the jobs: Who's going to pick fruit and other jobs citizens don't want to do? It would have a major ripple effect on the sectors which traditionally have a lot of undocumented workers.

I agree with kids who were brought here by parents as minors, or born to illegals. There is a plan by democrats and a few republicans, to give a blue card to farm workers who are here without papers, not citizenship but permanent residence. Some work would have to be done with our farmworker visas, right now apple farmers in NY pay the workers air fare from Jamaica and mexico, house them and pay there way back. There are a ton of people from south America that would love to come for the season and go back legally, we just need to streamline this. I don't think we would need a wall or overwork our border guards ifonly a few were attempting to cross daily. If everify was mandatory, and those with temp visas had to be recertified they would extend there visas or leave. We actually had that situation at work agood worker stayed past his visa date, my company let him go. He then reapplied with the right paperworkand got his job back.

I think the illegal immigration problem is easily solved, first make e-verify mandantory, second give present illegal immigrants legal status, but never citizenship or right to vote, third severe punishment for employers who knowingly try and go around law and higher illegals, both financial and prison time. The illegal crossings would stop,if you cant get a job why come here. I would think dems and republicans could get on board with this

Illegal aliens gather in blue states that have friendly policies no-deportation, driver licences, etc. Barack Obama removed the citizenship question from the census so illegals would be counted and the number of representatives in the house of representatives and federal resources ( money ), would increase for those blue states.

That is the Democrat motivation to resist voter id, penalties for stealing social security numbers, amnesty.. etc.
--

The republican motivation for not closing immigration loop holes is money from businesses, mostly represented by the chamber of commerce that profit from low wage workers.

Then you end up with citizens in all but name, who can't vote. In other words, second class citizens. A better solution would be to make the go the to back of the line and apply for citizenship.

Give them credit for serving in the military.

Trump is expected to sign order to send people seeking asylum in the US to Guatemala instead, according to report

Funny that he should choose Guatemala, since that's where a lot of them are coming from.So there's going to be some kind of "exception" for them according to that article...??? Interestng choice, regardless. Are we gambling that the upcoming presidential election there is going to get rid of the gangs and corruption, fix their economic issues and restore law and order?

Does Guatemala have adequate facilities for caring for them? Are we going to add resources so we can process asylum claims faster? Or does he just want to warehouse them in another country to avoid scrutiny and blame for his sh*tty treatment of these people?

Seeking asylum is not a crime.

AOC is an elected official and has every right to speak her mind on these issues, whether you, I or anyone else likes it or not. Pretty funny how she scares the crap out of the trumpublicans though. And, for that matter, the Democratic establishment too.

Funny, but there is always talk about free trade here. And why are US veggies so cheap. Aside from them usually being these crappy and tasteless GMO varieties, I tell people that US produce is subsidized. Not in an obvious way, so technically they are not violating trade agreements. But in two big ways:

1- Water. California is tearing through water with incredibly wasteful practices. Much of the agricultural land there that feeds the nation is literally desert. They flood it with poorly developed irrigation that means most of the water is lost to run off and evaporation. Meanwhile the sources are drying up. It's criminal abuse of an important resource, and nobody is even discussing the problem. But, at least for now, it keeps the fruits and veggies cheap.

2- Illegal immigrants. They work cheaper than locals would. Without the flood of illegal immigrants, the US would have to pay more, or invest more in machinery and robotics. This will come to an end too. Australia and New Zealand manage to export fresh produce with massive illegal labor. Maybe the US should try that too.

Both practices are unsustainable - and it's just a matter of time.

I agree with the comments above, as well. Forget the fence. Just enforce the laws against hiring illegal workers. Make the fines hurt. And stop providing social benefits to illegal immigrants - it's insane.

Once the jobs and the benefits dry up, so will the influx. Some will still come, but they will be motivated people who will make their own way in the country, support themselves, and become useful citizens. Either that, or they will be criminals and drug dealers.

We do pay for illegal immigration and low wage farm workers. Their children go to public schools, qualify for free meals and their parents are awarded with SNAP cards for buying food.

Their children also qualify for fee medical care. In California, legal and illegal immigrants will get free medical care.

At tax time, they qualify for Additional Child Tax Credit. Which allows them $1000 for every dependent, including nieces and nephews living in the home country.

So a farm worker making under minimum wage can collect an additional $10K from Uncle Same even though they don't pay taxes.
