Looking for a new registrar

I'm transferring out 500 domain names (com, net, org, info, biz, us), mostly .com.

what registrar would you guys recommend for cheap and reliable?

I hate to say it, but that's exactly what I thought. I've noticed that Rob likes to do this with his own account. Second post especially is suspect. No one writes like that, it sounds like one of those obviously fake reviews you can buy for dirt cheap.

FWIW, the inquiry is a legit person from Thailand who did create an account today. I had no prior interaction with this person.

As for the second person, I know who it is -- he is a long-time domainer named Rohit who buys in bulk at Epik. He and I were in a Skype discussion when the question came in my NP feed and I passed him the URL as an FYI. I assumed he was already a NP member. Rohit's brief remarks were definitely his own. He has about 10,000 domains with Epik. It is safe to say, that he knows us even if he is new to NamePros.

As for the others, they were completely unsolicited.

We do sell .TH domains but only as a reseller. Will check with @Sufyan Alani about the status of adding a direct .TH accreditation. We added .PH earlier this week and are working .NG in part because of hundreds of Nigerians have registered at Epik following an act of goodwill that was chronicled here:

We expect to do more with ccTLDs going forward. I am personally active on NamePros because I view professional domain investors as a critical distribution channel for getting domains into the hands of end-users.

Because I have since corresponded with him directly and he created an Epik account with identifying details. It is 5 am in Thailand now, but I am guessing he should come online later today and introduce himself more completely to the NamePros community. He seems like a nice guy to me. Epik has about 200 clients in Thailand -- big enough to get serious there.

Not sure @Dynadot has a great panel.

Even simple things are too complex there. Like, in my panel can see 100 names max and if I do selections and go to next page, then the selections are lost.

Plus, really upset with their auction practices. Here is an example: bunch of auctions get cancelled, I'd say most of good ones. And instead of refunding you, they freeze your money in your account. Now, you have to go an extra mile and request refund. If you don't and spent some from there, the rest are pretty much non-withdrawable, as I found out personally.

I had $xxx refund, I spend some and the rest I used to win some auctions. Of course, they also got cancelled, so I asked to refund my funds, if I cannot use them at auctions. And they said, tough, can't do, you used your money from the account (!!!!). And they didn't care that the account money came from the credit card originally and ended up in the account without my authorization/request.

And their auctions, they are literally awful. You spend hours looking through the list, hours waiting for auction end time and engaging in bidding, then they sit another 10 days on your money before announcing that the auction got cancelled.

I completely stopped looking at their auctions, although could be spending mid $xxxx monthly.

I would recommend these three:

Epik
Dynadot
NameSilo

They all have great pricing and good tools to organize your domains. You can expedite outgoing transfers as well, which I think is very important.

Dynadot has a sleek and modern interface. NameSilo not so much, but they do have many features and great security.

I just moved some names over to Epik because I want to try out their landers. Unlike the others, Epik lets you specify terms for selling domains in installments or rental, e.g. letting buyer pay in as much as 60 installments with or without interest. And @Rob Monster answers you incredibly fast when you send a PM here or chat over at Epik. That is really nice and personal.

At Dynadot, you can show up to 5,000 domains per page if you adjust your settings at My Domains > Domain Defaults.

But I do agree the auction issue is annoying.

The advantages to DynaDot are lower prices especially if you have a lot of domains you may negotiate renewal prices that other registrars might be able to touch but could not beat, and other advantage is the DynaDot marketplace which is available only to domains registered there.

Not only is Uniregistry a superb registrar where everything simply works, it is fully integrated with instant transfers with the Uniregistry Market.

The market has a major pending infrastructure upgrade which was announced by Frank Schilling last November. The ETA for this is July 28 though projects like this often run over schedule.

In 2018 I sold $79,000 in domains on the Uni Market, and my 2019 YTD number is $45,075. (Pro rata the result is actually about the same since I am constantly adding inventory.)

During June I updated my lander settings on over 2,000 domains from just “BIN” to “BIN” plus “Submit Enquiry” and it’s a bit early to say conclusively, but sales seem to be noticeably accelerating.
