SquadHelp - Marketplace

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Hi..

This is a query for other SquadHelp sellers..

It will be great if @GrantP can share some stats about this..

1)Did you ever saw any connection between selling a name and number of shortlists.. ?

Can we get a number of shortlists for sold domains I think it is not important factor but can see popularity and hence the decision to purchase it..

Kindly post in the comments with your sold names and their shortlisting number..

2) Again sellers did you sold names when it is at discounted or at original listing prices...if you share this info I think it definitely gives a chance to convert those views/shortlists into a sale..

3)Also anyone saw any shortlists on basic / basic+ names ?

Thanks in advance..
Ravi.
I had names in basic plus which got shorts lists and which were previously rejected for premium. When I saw this, I appealed the decision and they are now premium.

@GrantP

Why here domain desired selling price send compulsory.......

Note - Domain might be rejected if price expectation is too high

Thanks @Abdullah Abdullah

I guess one shortlist itself can show some demand for name and convince them to list at premium..

How many times was a single name shortlist and SH considered for premium ?

I think each had like 3-4 shorts. I dont know if that made a difference to them but when I asked for a review of the decision, they simply accepted and and added them as premium.

I sold a name through SH for $1899. Currently has 7 names listed there, let's see if I can sell more.

How does SH choose the 15 Premium domains that are displayed with lifestyle photos at the very top of the marketplace?
@bowskie currently this is selected based upon several signals that determine the popularity of the name. The lifestyle photos are created for certain domains chosen by SH based upon the popularity as well few other factors. However you have the option to request a lifestyle photo for any domain by using image credits. In the near future, you will also be able to use points to request lifestyle photos. We are also planning to make some changes to rotate names more frequently in the top section of the marketplace.

I thoguht squadhelp woudl do the same? Is there a way to put an option in your account where you allow them to accept domains on the condition that you agree to their highest approved commission / price?
@Jv1999 In a majority of situations if the name can not be approved due to high price, we do offer an alternative price that we can approve the name for. However in some situations, if the price expectation is too high (relative to what we might be able to approve the domain for), we may not approve the domain. In these situations, you do have the option to request a review and indicate a lower price point that you might be comfortable with.

We want sellers to achieve the highest possible value from their domains. If, as a platform, we do not believe we can meet our sellers pricing expectations, we prefer to be upfront so that the sellers can explore other venues to list their domains.

We do plan to introduce a "Make Offer" feature in the near future that will allow sellers to list some of their domains without a BIN price.

@GrantP I have a premium listing that was given a logo I didn’t care for. I requested a review and a new logo was provided. Honestly, this new one is probably the worst logo I’ve seen on the site. Can I just make my own and send it to you? Such an option might be appreciated by others here as well.
@Bernard Wright Thanks for your feedback. We are working on adding additional options that will allow sellers to receive multiple revisions on their logo design by using their points or by paying a small fee. In the meantime, you can request another review if you are not happy with the new logo design.

It will be great if @GrantP can share some stats about this..

@vravis9 There is no clear ability to predict likelihood of sale based upon number of shortlists. Of course, if you receive more shortlists on a particular name relative to other names in the same timeframe, it is usually a good indicator that there is a greater interest in that name and it will likely sell faster than others. However as others have indicated, we've had sales with 0 shortlists, and on the other hand, we still have names with 100+ shortlists that have not sold yet.

Number of shortlists as an absolute metric is not very meaningful because if you compare a name that was recently added to a name that was added 6 months ago, the older name will likely have more shortlists even if it is not as "strong" as the new name. The "Shortlist to Views %" is a better metric to analyze your names because it allows you to compare your names at a level playing field with other names in the portfolio as well as with other names in the platform.

Thanks, Grant! Is there any way to change the public profile name?

Is there a preferred registrar to use when hand regging a new name to sell on SH in case the name sells within the 60 day lock window ?

If you reg a domain today and it sells next week in SH, you dont get paid until after the 60 days ? Is it transferred (push/pull) during the lock window or does it just sit in limbo until after the 60 days ?

Does anyone have a .co premium approved? I've seen only one in this (or maybe the listed brandables) thread.

As @Veneris and @Wali Dahot mentioned, they accept .co .io extensions.

There are few reported sales of .co names
actyv.co
epiq.co
ignyte.co

I submitted 10 names 20 days back, at all the naming platform(BB,BP,SH) Few names are already published in SH, BP has selected few(they are late, all of my name are published in SH), still waiting for BB for reply.

Though i have price range concern, overall i am happy with SH.

Last month I wasted 1500 points to promote 3 names , It was useless.
I just did it to one domain yesterday. It says that with the boost the name is 687 points higher, which means nothing to me. What is a point, what does 687 points higher mean in relation to other names ? So far I am not seeing any noticeable increase in views. This boost thing eats up a lot of your points but I can't tell how it improves anything.

In regards to the 15 domains shown at the top of the marketplace, I don't have an issue with how Squadhelp chooses which to showcase, but surely they should be replaced immediately once they sell. Z/v/a/r/i, for instance, is still being displayed, even though it is being reported as recently sold both on its landing page and in the marketplace dashboard. Giving prime advertising space to a name that has already sold seems rather unfair.

I don't know how it's possible, but at this point I have more rejected domains listed at SH as premium than accepted one's. Most of the times, after I receive the answer from them, I list part of the rejected one's as plain domains, and most of the times they are accepted after they are changing hands, sometimes with prices double than what I was asking for. It happened to have names rejected and sold them to somebody else, and they were accepted, all of this in under 24 hours. I've asked SH customer service what's happened and I'm still waiting for a reply after a couple of months.

If someone buys your domain, and you start with the transfer process. can he regret the purchase and get a refund?

It is possible to cancel a purchase where installment payments are being paid. Not too sure about whether a buyer can request a refund on payments made already though.
