sure seems to be a lot of Weed Drops lately..
Wasn't there a $1.00 special at WHC (pretty sure there) about a years ago or so ago?
A few months before official legalization?

It's very possible, as I know Rebel had a similar ($1.99 I think) sale before the masses of LLL junkers poured in a month or two ago. That was crazy and I think someone bought ALL the 3-letters that were unregistered.

Well, back in the day, I was known to mass buy LLL (NNN/N-N/L-L but not in .ca) so I resemble that craziness, tried to corner the market (buy the whole dam street block..lol)

Nothing wrong with this strategy, assuming you get them on sale, sell a few, then drop the rejects back in the pile.

Been there, done that.

Wow, this is about the most boring TBR I've ever seen. Any estimates on the number of domains selected?

I'm thinking 70-80 just based on the pot drops. 65-75 if no one is interested.

Bought most of them here and at another "domain" forum, avoided a few that were "Google Blacklisted" (adult/malware/etc)..decided to sell portfolio at a certain price, contacted a few domainers (Twitter/LinkedIn)..sold all of them as a portfolio, bragged about sale online, new owner wasn't happy (thought he got a deal..) and made a powerful "enemy"...lesson that I learned from this experience...learned humility and became a "guru in remission"...

Eeeew, even worse than I thought and this was with a lot of Pot names being taken.

60 domains selected. :xf.confused:

Anyone have any idea why the CIRA still has the old July 10 data online? Hopefully they're not going to cancel the last TBR run and double-up yet again. :xf.laugh:

Aren't registrars, even their "TBR only" numbered companies, locked out for a certain a certain period of time between server requests?

That is wrong, as to do that they should have a numbered company for each server request. Obviously they are using the same name for each server, and I'm wondering why.

P.S. I have inquired to see what's up.

Holy crap, I bought a few domains during the Canada Day sale and I was looking over the traffic stats and most were in the 10-100 range, but then I saw two outliers:

1243 visitors since 2019-Jul-08.
2459 visitors since 2019-Jul-08.

WTF?

Can't give out the names right now.

You really can't expect an answer without a name in a cause, and effect situation.

No answer required, as that's what I'm trying to figure out.

Just posted it because I was honestly flabbergasted, as I have some higher-traffic .CA domains, but more in the range of 500-700 a day. I bought these late on Monday night, so it's almost 1K a day for the last one.

How is MyID/8433763 Canada Inc. able to do the following?

Well, I got an answer on this.

In the "old world" the CIRA required that each TBR registrar link/account have its own distinct company or corporation, hence all the numbered companies, but under Fury, a single registrar can create multiple TBR Connections (same price/same format) without the need to operate multiple shell corporations.

This is a better way to do it, as it allows the same TBR process but without the CRA filing, taxes, tax returns, balance sheet, etc. required by a corporation. I often wondered what kind of a accounting headache that was for a major TBR player like MyID or Sibername. Apparently it was a big one, because Fury cleared it up.

The only real difference is that we can't see how many TBR connections each Registrar has, as now they can all form from the same registrar corporation.

Nice to notice a major .ca sale in the most recent DNJournal - DT for $29,000.

Thanks for highlighting that, but it's still depressing because it's the only .CA transaction on the entire list. "Go Big or Go Home" should be the .CA mantra in 2019.

Hey, DT.ca now forwards to:

https://visiontravel.ca/

I think I get it, Vision Travel is owned by Direct Travel at DT.com.

Indeed that seems the mantra. I had been looking at different country code sales in last year on NameBio, and .ca has an unimpressive number of sales (list here), but amongst the highest average prices of any TLD for the year at $10,800

Thanks for the update. This didn't affect me at all, was just curious when I saw MyId getting one after another yesterday.
