I have regged over time the exact same short keyword domain name in 15 tlds including the .com (the .com version with an "s" at the end however), that r all within the same vertical industry niche, which is about to become a huge growth market as the news and research gets released to the mainstream. I do not own the .net and .org versions however.

I have researched out this market quite alot and am quite confident that the product will be released to the world in a short time as it grows. I cannot say at this time the niche however.

I was curious if I could get more $ selling all 15 domains in 1 lot or selling individually which would take alot of time and effort.

My thoughts were to find buyer for the entire lot so they would have a major portion of the domain tlds covered in their portfolio

How would I find a buyer for the entire lot? through a broker?

suggestions?

and btw no its not in 5g! lol

I fully agree with Bob here. In my early days of domaining I used to book .info and .biz domains [yes, even trademark names, like fool] and tried outbound to pitch the names to .com owners but not a single person was interested. So .net .org is okay but others are not.

An interesting question - thanks for starting it @artstar . Here are my non-expert thoughts...
  • I think that it would be very unlikely that an end user would want more than a couple of TLDs at most in the same word, so don't see trying to sell them all together to an end user as adding value.
  • While it is possible that a domainer would like idea of controlling many of the good TLDs in an emerging medical term, I doubt that you will get a good price by selling them as a package to a domainer.
  • I think it does make sense to sometimes take the same word in multiple extensions, but in most cases 15 seems like a lot. If it was an AI field, I can see taking maybe .com, .ai, .io, and possibly .tech or .org for example.
  • I can see, in some cases, taking extra TLD as a defensive move so that a comparable domain name was not sitting there for hand registration.
  • All this being said, there are cases where the exact word (or a couple of variations of the word) have sold in many TLDs. E.g. esports and e-sports have sold in quite a few TLDs. If I was the first to see that coming, registering 15 might have paid off.
  • In your case I would try to sell them separately, at varying prices, and in a year time look at probability of sale and return on each in assessing which it makes sense to renew.
Best wishes with them.

Bob

It's ok if you don't want to share the name. But since you asked how you can sell it, there's lies the problem. Without knowing the name no one can tell how you can sell the names.
oh really ok then i guess we dont need to continue on as im not revealing the domains / thread over .

As a domainer and a developer I can tell you... it is useful. Especially in today’s climate where crypto is involved and scammers can scam users with phishing sites and fake tokens. It’s a security thing if you want to be taken seriously you need to have your brands ass covered.

hmm u r 1 of the few that agrees its a good plan. my thoughts exactly! most people dont go for the idea cause they never can secure that many domains in one niche thats the descriptive keyword so they will put it down. its to be expected, domainers r a competitive lot and many r jealous and envious. but i just laugh it off.

btw i dont post the domain(s) cause I dont need the critique on what I know is a decent domain. and i know the majority of posters will rip it apart anyhow doesnt matter how good it is .many domainers r a vindictive breed. imo btw

Yeah most people are kinda stupid. I love being able to say to a client ok... you wanna launch online in a big way... here’s a way to monetise a dozen niches and keep it all consistent with your brand.

Apple.music
Apple.film
Apple.store
Apple.news

Apple wanna launch a car?

Apple.car

not sure if its stupid or just not thinking out of the box. domainers r a pretty switched on bunch and many read alot and some just go by the seat of their pants but its not a dumb persons sport per say.

alot of people today think they know whats best for everyone else and they virtue signal all the time thinking they r they have all the answers to everyones plight. its bizarre really but i just laugh it off as i said cause ive been around long enuff to know when im on the right track. if its a bust the investment is minimal really. Im not in domaining to become rich far from it but its the thrill of the chase.

I usually just limit myself to owning the .com .net & .org of a brand/name.

Owning 15 different extensions is too much unless its something huge/famous name. Example: You go get IBMWatson (.com) (be ready for UDRP though)

For a Domainer. 15 extension is 14 too many.

Let's all circle on back in one year and you can let us know if you are renewing them all, or just some. Then in two years let us know again how may you are keeping vs dropping. And then in three years again you tag us so we can stay informed, you obviously are excited to let everyone know.....
Funny thing is, 3 years will go by in a blink and the fact of the matter is, you will have probably invested about $400-$500 at that point. After that much coin and all these pages of back-forth speculating, will you be able to let it all go or will you be even more determined to hold come year 4, year 5?

Kinda yeah. It would seem a much safer bet on my end than yours but it doesn’t really make sense to bet against your success.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again to you, Art. I’m on your team here and simply speculating the worst case scenario, because in this game, the worst case scenario is something that many domainers go sprinting into.

True definition of humble opinion. (y)

I'm not sure we see what each other mean but no worries man. Playing devil's advocate and speculating the worst case scenario is not thinking negatively, it's thinking smartly. If your speculations about your names are only positive, you may be holding poor investments and hurting your ROI from any possible sales of your solid assets. And, thinking too positively is exactly what gets domainers into tremendous trouble. I'm not saying your too positive but I'd say you seem more passionate about these names than logical, which could be something you may want to examine before this gamble get's needlessly expensive. (been there over and over, and over)
ps-I'm on your team.

Spot-on.

By all means consolidate with the .net or/and the .org if your ten years ahead of the crowd of a future technology etc. BUT Remember the buyers for your .COM are normally the owners of the lesser extensions. Don't take away the ground that drives them to you
