The $0.99 all-inclusive .CO promo will kick off on this Sunday night at 5 pm PT, 8 pm ET, which is 00:00 GMT on Monday morning. It will last 7 days.

All domains registered at Epik include:

- Free WHOIS privacy
- Free SSL parking landers
- Free forwarding
- Free basic Wordpress site
- Free listing in Epik marketplace for selling/leasing

Brandable names are doing particularly well in the after-market for .CO, e.g. 7 letters or shorter, pronounceable .co can be registered for $0.99 and sold for retail prices as brands.

I have no idea why people buy .AI and .IO when they get the more reputable and cheaper .CO and get the first year basically for free.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
We can see the inquiry activity that comes through our SSL parking landers. Earlier this year, we noted that the .CO TLD is very active for inquiries, second only to .COM, and ahead of .NET. This is why we decided to do a loss-making promo to drive speculative registration of .CO. We think our domainer clients will do well with .CO in the coming year, and that it will help some newer domainers to successfully bootstrap a portfolio at Epik with reasonable prospects for asymmetric returns.

Come on, @Rob Monster !

We all know that this trash that no one wanted at $22 for years and even .co registrar which thinks everything under the sun is premium, did not bother to slap $xxx price tag is not investment worthy.

Second to .com means nothing and you know it too well. Otherwise, you'd mention exact rates, as you imply that you have them. And even then those stats would be for better .co names, not leftover trash.

And you know too well that this subpar portfolio can be held just for a year, as no one is renewing them at $20+

Funny how all the religious values dry up when it is about making money.

I hope this is not considered off topic, but since as a result of the promotion many of us are probably using the Epik Marketplace, perhaps for first time, I have a question/request @Rob Monster.

I price my domain names in USD. From here in Canada the lander shows the price sometimes in Canadian dollars (with conversion) and sometimes in USD. I don't have a problem with that, but the problem is that the indicated currency units does not show up (I guess if it is your home currency?) - i.e. it does not show USD or CAD simply the dollar symbol.

Most landers clearly show the currency units always. It is true that you can scroll down the lander and choose currency, but the fact that is not visible on the lander page (until scroll past what shows initially on screen).

Would it be a simple fix to always show the currency units beside the price so it is clear? Or am I missing something I can set? It is mainly the problem of USD and CAD as the symbol is the same.

Thanks,

Bob

The currency should dynamically update based on the auto-detected country of the site visitor. The same will apply later this month for language. So that visitors will see a lander that is tailored to them as possible. The Content Delivery Network should allow the SSL lander to load quickly wherever they are.

I've managed to reg a bit over a hundred names, thanks for the opportunity @Rob Monster !

I've got a bit of everything - geos, brandables, niche, a few LLN's - well worth a punt for under a buck each, imo...

Decided to park them all with Epik and I'm pretty impressed with the landing pages. Lots of SEO features, some names have already been indexed in Google with the right meta data, you can really see that a lot of brainstorming and work went into building these landers with all their features. Top job @EPIK team!

Thanks for the feedback there.

We are working on another enhancement for this month that will put each parking lander on its own unique name servers, rather than shared. It is all Anycast and is also running on a network of dedicated IPs.

If folks have feedback on strategies to improve SEO generally, we are listening for that input as the impact for large scale improvement in SEO would be material for our customers.

Keep those success stories and feedback coming. We are working on securing more registry deals -- the big one that is live now is .XYZ but promos can always be found here:

Thanks again @Rob Monster and everyone at Epik! This was an amazing offer! I appreciate all the questions that were answered and also thanks to Estibot for putting out that list.

Also, I didn't realize how easy everything is at Epik. Very easy to use. Love how an auth code will come up immediately as soon as it is requested. Can't wait for the next offer!

Thanks Rob. That is good news re language but I still think the current system is confusing re currency. It does update with currrency (ie CAD) but the problem is it does not show any indication that it is Canadian dollars unless you scroll off page to the very bottom. I think many would assume they are USD when it's not. If one simply always put the currency units by the number, even for local currency, it would be clear.

I'm sad that I missed the great deal...:xf.cry:

But, I want to answer any .co detractors.
I once acquired a long, two-word .co domain with high CPC keywords.
Got it for $2 and sold it a few weeks later for $2,000.
With no effort (thanks to NamesCon).

de·trac·tor
/dəˈtraktər/
Learn to pronounce
noun
  1. a person who disparages someone or something.
"the island, say its detractors, has been devoured by development"
    synonyms: critic, disparager, denigrator, deprecator, belittler, attacker, censurer, fault-finder, carper, backbiter, caviller, reviler, vilifier, slanderer, libeller, calumniator, defamer, traducer;
    informalmud-slinger, knocker, nitpicker;
    rareasperser
"detractors complained about the display's confused nature"

As a .co detractor, I must say, one sale means NOTHING.

And if you believed in .co so much, you would have surely reinvested those $2000 in hundreds, thousands more?

Or you believe in the extension so much that it requires $1 promo to reinvest?

Times have changed since your sale. EMDs are harder sell even in .com, .co is not a straight forward extension it used to be. Now it is operating under new gtld model: premium pricing on any semi-decent name and dirt cheap promos on the rest, making suckers out of domain investors.

The only winners are them and the registrars. So I understand Rob's enthusiasm, while I don't understand yours or other "protractors".

While I don't agree with the Registry's backstabbing business model, I have to disagree on the selling side. I've sold 2 .Co's this year via inbound out of 120 I hold which is why I bought 218 more during this promo. I would have bought more but that's what I was able to find that had value and chances of selling imo; not to mention it was very competitive between domainers. Will see how the year ends for my .Co portfolio which is only a small portion either way compared to my .coms and others. But if I can sustain a 2% sales rate, I will keep buying them on promos. I would support the extension more if they eliminated the stupid premium pricing model. They used domainers at first to market the extension and a few years later just backstab them by trying to cut the middleman. So they don't have my full year round support.

@Rob Monster thank you for this promo. But renewal price for .com .net .co showing 90's price - $35 on my control panel. Am I doing something wrong? How real can this be? Which domainer will hold his domains at Epik for this prices

Rob, the tweet says one can perform Sedo/Afternic purchases with Epik account money, is that correct?

Are there any fees for that?

Also, can/could you also perform other type of purchases for your customers with the Epik account balance, for example, buy something on Namejet/Namescon auction?

Hi Don - yes, we can do that.

For NamePros members, you can buy domains from Sedo MLS and Afternic MLS from your account balance without any fee or markup.

We can also serve as a buyer's agent to buy domains on your behalf again using your account balance.

You can also redeem proceeds from Escrow.com or Godaddy auctions to your Epik balance. I find that there are folks in places like India and Brazil that really appreciate this feature, but it is generally useful.

More innovation coming in this area, notably around comprehensive crypto support from Masterbucks.com, a service of Epik.

Hi Bob -- The engineers updated the parking lander to show the currency symbol more explicitly. Canada and USA both use the $ symbol, but now now Canada shows as CA$, for example.
