How do I know what "tier" my domain is?

Hi, I've heard there are tiers associates with domain names, and I am loosely beginning to understand what it means. Like that a tier 1 usually consists of single word domains that are sold as premium.

What I cannot figure out, even after searching forums and Google in general, is how to see what tier the domains I do have fall under. I approached a broker online to see if they were interested in my 2 word domain, but they said it wasn't tier 1, and they don't deal with any less than that. Just curious how to see that, and I appreciate any feedback you can give me. :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Every domainer, broker, marketplace will have their own definition of what is premium and/or what tier a domain may be. The only way to get some accurate input is to start a thread in the appraisal section with the name indicated and ask some of the namepros to offer an opinion.

You may see some people on here quoting tiers from nameworth.com fyi

Terms like "Premium Domain" and "Tier 1 Domain" are pretty arbitrary. I think most would have their own loose description .. and at the end of the day if you asked 10 different domainers, you'd likely come up with at least half as many definitions.

What the broker is more likely trying to tell you is simply that your domains are not good enough for him to bother his time with.

Good luck with your domains! :)
