Hello, I usually do not share my sales and send many emails to promote my domains, but sometimes I do.

Most often, I send emails to 1 - 3 potential buyers per domain and they are selected after a thorough search. Once I have identified a prospective customer, I find the most appropriate person to whom the email should be targeted.

I do research on the company and see what direction they are developing and what they are focusing on, and what is important to them as a business by doing so in the e-mail addressing this topic.

I can say that my English is not very good and I surely make mistakes, but I get a response in 85% of the case and about 50% ends with a sale ....

Below you will see one of the emails and I hope you can share your opinion on what I could improve. My problem is mostly that I'm not very active in sending emails, I do it 2-3 times a month, so I have 1-2 sales, maybe I have to change something in myself ...

Have a successful week and good luck to all of us, looking forward for your opinion.

Hi “Name”,

as a domain investor and wine admirer for me is a privilege to own two exclusive domain names, “domain name” and “domain name”.

It was not difficult to identify the "company name” as the most suitable buyer for these premium domain names. Some of your vineyards are located in these regions, and they are also home to the Garro, Querol and Moneu varieties, which you returned back to life.

Having these names is not only prestigious, but also an opportunity to tell the world in a creative way about these regions, the soil, the people and the wines you grow there.

Can I send you more information regarding the sale?

what has been the response or content of the response you have received so far with this method?

I like the angle of the sale letter though but it can be better improved... if you tweak it even further.

If you're getting a 50% sell rate, then you should be teaching us.

For example in the last 45 days I sent 3 emails to 3 different companies, promoting 4 domains and I managed to sell 2 of the domains ( 1 .net 2 word and 1 .com 2 word as well

Total purchase price ~$50 , total sales $1380

No seriously, you should give out some tips. I don't think there's anyone here who can manage that, assuming that you're speaking the truth (no offense).

I would primarily be interested in where you acquire the dommains and how you choose them as I believe that plays a bigger factor than the presentation.

I bought the .net domain at godaddy close out, the domain was listed at undeveloped with BIN $580, after quick search on linkedin I found a company using same domain ending with “app” in .com, I found the founder of the company and then with rocket search I found his email address. I send him an email and after 5-6 day he just bought the domain via undeveloped with BIN

The .com was hand reg, I repeated the process but this time the owner of the company make me an offer and we close the deal in private. I can’t share the price and the domain in this case, only I can say is the domain contains the word “New Zealand”...

I sold both names in less than 2 weeks, I have a really small portfolio of about 70 names with 65% .com’s, so take me a lot of time for research to find the right buyer for my domain names. And I’m really careful when I send emails to potential buyers... may be no more than 50 emails per year

Hope this helps

I am also in a similar position but no reply yet.
I own the domain (downeyautorepair/king)
After my search I was able to see two prospective buyers
1) Steven luzzi ( owner of Steven luzzi automotive)
He make use autorepair-downey/king which in the domaining world it is inferior to mine.
2) Joe Downey
He names his automotive center Downey Auto repair which makes it exact match,
But the don't have a site yet.
So no way to reach him just phone number and I don't live in the US
I have some other more but this guys are the potential customers, because others customers will probably use it for redirect.

Is there any advice on what to do..

Wait, what's the issue here? or am I missing something?

The example email template you posted here is readable, understandable & straightforward. You say you're not good at English but I find it otherwise. You're really nailing this, my friend :)

If you're still concerned about your English part (which I honestly think you shouldn't) then install Grammarly and it'll help you improve & correct your mistakes.

Thanks, to be honest this is my biggest issue, because I send emails to CEO, CFO and so on, and I want to be professional... but thanks again for the positive words.

Your email template already looked professional to me.
Also, do not try to fix something which is working fine.

Your current level of English seems to be pretty good & understandable. Making it more professional would seem that its a usual copy paste template done by some automation tool & delivered by hitting the SEND button.

The uniqueness will die. Don't :)

Hello Everyone,

I still have a LOT of reading to do. In fact, as with most things in life for me, the more I read yalls posts the more I realize how much more I do not know. I think it was a different thread but I read the story about the individual who had the long story basically begging for money. That definitely put things in perspective a little more for me.

I will try to make this as short as possible because I know everyone has better stuff to do than read my story but I’m not going to make any excuses. I’m not going to beg for money. I’m going to just tell as short of a story as possible of how I ended up with a good amount of domains with a somewhat crazy variety of every business I could think of.

I am a good reader. Terrible at math. It’s been that way my whole life. I also don’t learn the easy way I, for some reason, have to feel the pain and get burned before I learn lessons. Not proud of that it just is what it is. I graduated from Auburn University here in Alabama and majored in political science but learned more about bars, football (other sports), and whiskey at the fraternity house than I should have. I made it through and could usually make as good of a grade as I wanted. I only applied myself in the harder classes though. I usually was shaking off a little headache and would study the people in the class not the teacher. Whoever seemed to take the best notes I picked up on pretty quick. Sometimes it would be a tight race on the front row of good note takers which was more interesting usually than the class, I would warm up to them (in all seriousness I like to think I am the kind of person who actually really likes everyone unless they give me a reason not to) so I usually could finagle my way into trying to get the best notes possible. Hence a few handfuls of 101......domains. Then study them before the test.

I say all of the above to say this. I hope some of you are still with me. I discovered the world of domains when I started my own little Political Consulting firm here in Alabama. A Friend built my website which has since expired(not the .net but the page) and when it was time to renew a year later we had to do a three way call with GoDaddy to get the domain in my name. I also had another project for a client who started a non-profit 501(c)3 that I had ideas for so went ahead and got two more domains. I am 38 years old now. This was about 2-3 years ago. Just like I think I was among the last person my age to have thought or realized the huge world of domains much less the complexity I had recently just started to get into jiujitsu. I had never heard of jiujitsu until I met a friend who was dating a female friend of mine and invited me to the gym. Just like the respect I am seeing needs to be earned in the domain business I learned real quick that ego etc better be left at the door when stepping on a mat. To me it all seems to have happened for a reason. The only difference is that I accidentally respected jiujitsu quicker than this industry because I learned quick that the guys who know what they are doing can choke me out real real quick if I didn’t respect the complexity of the art. I see domains in a similar fashion especially after a few years of what I have learned. I was so oblivious that I did not even know what SEO stood for. It is what it is. At the same time I am having these life revelations finally learning how much I have taken for granted in my life I had the worst identity theft problem I had ever had to date at the time. Some of the guys at the gym I learned happened to work in IT either for local companies to military. So I asked the GoDaddy representative if the name www.protectyournecks.com was available. I had just realized who I would want to be on my side if I had to have any kind of physical altercation and thought to myself since they were IT savvy as well we needed to make the ultimate Identity Theft Service that would put Norton etc to shame because it would be so great! I thought it was genius and worst case scenario maybe the UFC and martial art fans of the world would check out the site if we just ended up playing the best YouTube fights and/or played virtual lessons people could watch etc?

It has been a fun interesting journey from there. For some reason I then decided to start trying to grow up faster. I found some coins my grandfather had left me in my safe deposit box and got my first Redbook (2018 Edition). I learned more about history through coins than I ever did in high school or college. I started to wish I hadn’t slept through those classes growing up. I started to appreciate antiques. I then drifted into Stamps since my grandfather was the postmaster in a little town in Alabama. I thought the numismatists were a tight knit group. Just like after I look at wheat pennies for an hour the 1955’s all start looking like double stamps I then respected and learned a lot about history through stamps. The philatelists, in my experience so far and I feel certain based on the wisdom I have already learned from reading posts here from all of you, are a very tight knit group also. I got frustrated trying to sell on eBay because I felt that the community who knew about coins and stamps keep things controlled there and are all looking to steal from idiots who found some prime MS70 mercury dimes they inherited that they were willing to sell for the spot price of silver. So by no means am I claiming to be a full fledged adult because it takes some of us longer than others but I really changed a lot about my ways. I started to call GoDaddy and asking about acronyms like LTSCB.com (I think I have 5-10 variations but it was something along the lines of (Learning Through Stamps Coins & Books) to start a site teaching kids about the correlation of coins, stamps the history of the world and currency along with the books that helped tie it together. An acronym for finding numismatists near you. I couldn’t sell two Sacagawea dollars for ONE dollar on eBay so that’s where things started. TRGTC.com (The Rookies Guide To Coins) etc etc

Then of course I started to notice every commercial and website I heard passed or saw on a billboard. I would come home and have to call my cell phone provider over an issue or not be able to get into my phone and got www.FTheClouds.com (real mature). I would look around the room and call GoDaddy. I feel like I’m friends with a lot of the representatives now. I am not trying to do anything but claim that I was such an idiot that before I knew it I had more domains than I needed. They are probably awful for the most part and I had spent a lot of money. Then I started to ask about the cost of hosting, renewals, and one very important thing that had not crossed my mind. I had/have no clue how to make a website. If anything I may could possibly make a video of how to make a laptop crash pretty quick! I then had some change in a few clients so kind of got in a situation where I knew I was going to have to figure something out no matter what so I kept buying domains. Looked up the top 10 domain names. Did some more embarrassing things by picking up names such as www.GetFBMail.com thinking Facebook may grow enough to need it for employee emails. I would be having a cocktail and come up with a bright idea call then 50 domains later would cut myself off. Had to get the domain Thank You For Not Smoking.us because the movie Thank You For Smoking was one of the biggest factors that made me want to be a lobbyist when I grew up. So I figured SURELY with the monstrous vaping industry and people’s propensity to be interested in the inner workings of politics that Hollywood would probably beat down my door for the ideas I still have for that movie.

I have recently in probably the last year or so slowed down drastically on purchasing domains. I have tried to think of what the future will look like. I have witnessed us here in Alabama expanding rural broadband so then purchased some possibly relevant domains to what I’ve seen close to home all the way to .co.uk extensions dealing with domain name selling, inclusive resort travel ideas, a few .pizza domains, .ninja, international dating sites, .coffee to name a few and one that I haven’t finished the idea yet because I will be married two years this coming October...... www.101financialfornewlyweds.com.....and I am getting there but do not have an ending to the advice we have lived through recently but plan on giving some good advice. Maybe by the time I get to that I will have quit smoking to get that script to Hollywood with an actual ending.

So in summary if anyone is still reading I really appreciate reading the threads and look forward to continue to learn from those more wise than I. I am slowly but surely learning as I approach 40 before long the words silent and listen contain the same letters for a reason. There is no easy way to make a buck much less two cents! Just like it should be all of you have put in a lot of work, analyzing and I don’t even know yet what all else to have the knowledge that you do! I don’t regret the money I have spent. I am not a huge gambler, even though I do have some gambling related domains one in particular .com with 11 letters I of course personally think is better than that one that just sold for an amount I can’t fathom, but I feel like I have learned enough already to make what I have spent worth it. I will earn it back. I eventually realized the domain appraisal tool was there not long into this journey. I’m not a lazy person and didn’t go around looking the appraisal up before calling GoDaddy, but I sure felt it was worth what I paid when I get off the phone, and then looked as long as one or two were worth 1,000 or more. In hindsight I should have watched the video on YouTube I watched last night with Joe Styler a long time ago and started with 5-10 domains. I don’t operate that way for some reason though. I did quit drinking liquor though and just sip a few beers every once in a while. So I don’t drink and buy domains anymore!

I apologize for the Nobel. If anyone has the patience to hear this story there are many many side stories I just tried to break it down, for what it’s worth, to explain that I may have 400-600 domains (I need to pull some bank records and locate some) that I didn’t use my brain for nor respect what all goes into the whole process. I can assure you I do have a whole new respect for the industry now. I do at least have just one or two projects I am working on and a plan to keep them unless they are just ridiculous as I learn more as renewals start to come up and I appreciate any words of wisdom. I am thankful to be on NamePros and look forward to putting in the work by listening to you all!

I do have some very interesting domains. I haven’t sold any yet so they must not be that interesting but I have tried to touch every business past, present and future humanly possible. Hopefully I can learn to do what it takes to sell some. Otherwise I hope someone has a good .tax site so I can figure out what to write off! If there isn’t a good site out there I have a few .tax domains for sale!

I hate to ask but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would do if they were me to hope for a Hail Mary until I work my main job enough to get something to come full circle I would love to hear any feedback always. I don’t get my feelings hurt either I am good with criticism and feedback of any kind.

Thank you everyone I won’t write another novel I just wanted to own my mistakes and explain where I am. If I don’t get any feedback I will try again sooner than later though with a readers digest version! That’s one thing I am proud of. Even if at times it may not be the wisest thing.....I don’t give up!

Thank you again!
New Southerner
