You were right...and good question...

I'll quote @Internet.Domains
"Libra is controlled by the Libra Association. Facebook is only a fraction of the Libra Association.
Facebook owns a crypto wallet that will exchange Libra, it will be called Calibra. Others are allowed to create Libra Wallets as well, as it's open source."

When i hear open source and being able to create your own wallets..i'm assuming that's where names come into play. But only time will tell; it's just day one. I'd love to hear from someone with more knowledge on this crypto stuff??????

Ok I know what i said about how do domainers make $ on Libra domains and I wasnt even aware of Calibra until recently, so I decided to read up more and check out a few domains relating to it all and i had to have at least 1 domain in the niche I decided, so I thought this 1 was cool to reg:

CALIBRADAPP.Com

Just read a nice piece about Libra

Supposedly the "association" will start research in 2020 whether to make Libra more decentralised.......ummm ok then, more chance of a pig flying through my window......

Facebook’s crypto isn’t a new Bitcoin, it’s Disney Dollars for a new world order.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/facebook-crypto-isn-t-bitcoin-110201182.html

The last sentence made me smile:

"But even if every Bitcoin user the world over doesn’t jump on Libra when it launches in the first half of 2020, your aunt probably will. And that’s exactly what Facebook is betting on."

lol, I was actually thinking the same thing. Facebook as we know it today is dying. I'm not sure their currency is gonna work out. They got some great platforms backing them but it's less secure etc etc. Not gonna bother myself to look into their coin.

i see thru namebio that 100 plus bitcoin domains sold in 2019 and i thought there was a tm on bitcoin. so maybe libra/calibra is the same and people will want them as well?

Same I won't be looking at the currency, but I do think they and their partners will make a few quid out of this. FB might be on the decline but when that decline is measured in 2 + billion users there is still profit to be made :xf.smile: .

I was the owner of libra.org

So you can imagine my shock today.

They were slick af buying it btw. I’ve sold some
Monster names over the last 15 years but they sure got me on this one. And yes it was astrology related originally.

hmm Interesting, ...If that being the case ...could you share how there approach went? How things they did to hide who they were and what their negation tatic was like to Hide the fact its "KNOCK KNOCK ME FB AT YOUR DOOR"...? I'm sure there's something we could all learn from there..like was there a "budget" and or " final offer " thrown in there at you ?

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks and congrats.

Thanks and congrats/ouch I guess...?

They acted like every broke enduser on a budget. It was genius really. Playing broke with limited resources, Delays in securing funding, spaced out emails, me having to follow up.

I ended up with a very solid return but it could have been 10x my solid return easily.

Zukckerberg owes me dinner.

Does this mean the "Global Coin" term is useless?

Or does it still hold some value?

Cant say unfortunately. You never know where you are on the list of names they want, you might be number 1 and they will pay anything or you might be number 10 and they are ready to move onto number 11 if they dont get a reply that suits them. That's the domain life we all share.

I once had an offer for a domain that was around 30k, the guy offered to give me 10 bitcoin for it (around 3k/coin), I took the cash instead. Within I'd say a month, that's when bitcoin shot to nearly 20k.

I don't know who was more pissed, me for losing out on 170k or the guy for spending essentially 200k for a 30k domain. :)

Understood. Did they ask you to sign a NDA?

Thanks for the info you provided already.

I'm curious, what method did they use to buy the name?
I want to know what a large company views as safe or legit?

escrow etc...

Congratz! You said you couldn't share any price details, yet you did. All in the same post. Solid.

It is interesting to see an ex-Paypal President, David Marcus, on board to lead Calibra wallet / Libra coin:
