I think that sports is a great metaphor for business. But especially the NHL. With the best of 7 format in the post-season it is a game of speed, endurance, skill, and mental fitness. The best teams improve as the post-season progresses and prove they want the Cup the most.

In the 2018/2019 season the Tampa Bay Lightning were the team with the record-tying most wins in a season. They were very impressive, said to have "no weaknesses and a lot of star power". Yet they were beaten in 4 straight games in the first round of the post-season by a wildcard team that barely qualified. Ouch.

Who do you think will be in the Stanley Cup final in 2019?

From what I've seen so far, my prediction is it will be Dallas Stars v Carolina Hurricanes.

It's insane that fans have started to line up outside the Scotiabank Arena in the so-called Jurassic Park since Saturday for tonight's Raptors' game.

They won't be inside, but only be able to watch the game on a big screen outside the arena. If you want to be inside, the average price of a ticket on the secondary market is $6,000 US. The cheapest tickets were listed at $2,500 US. Court-side will cost you over 100K. This is the most expensive NBA finals so far.

Just for one night! Where the home team may lose. You spend all that money with no returns and likely get deeper in debt, if you are the average fan.

Yet people are complaining about the prices of domains on the aftermarket! :banghead:

And 3 were traded from Toronto Maple Leafs: Gunnarson, Steen, and Bozak. I'm sure they are happy now about the trade. Toronto lost in 7 to Boston in the 1st round.

If you are into The Office, then you should love the rivalry between John Krasinski (aka Jim) and Jenna Fischer (aka Pam).

David Denman, who played Pam's boyfriend then ex on the show, was with John at game 7 of the Boston/St. Louis final. And he was in character in this video at the game:

In response, Jenna made a classic hilarious reply:

You won't get it if you haven't watched the show. At least a couple of times.

I don't know, but I know it is no team from Canada and that makes me :xf.frown:.
As a kid I remember watching playoffs every year with my Dad, and it always was either Montreal or Toronto. That seems such distant past now.
Bob
" The Blues have a whopping 20 Canadian-born players on the roster, which is the most in the league this year."

More interesting facts in that link.
Note wish I had @Bob Hawkes "gift of content", pretty sure that my postings in this thread would be more interesting!
I, even tried to make "pre-game" predictions" just for feedback/trash talk (more views lol)

Pretty sure if the Raptors didn't make the finals in NBA, more Canadians would have been watching the NHL playoffs.

Thanks @TCK for starting this thread..

@briguy, thanks for keeping me company on this thread during the playoffs. And your posts were just the right length. Don't fret. Your predictions were a lot better than mine. Hey, I predicted Dallas and Carolina in the final.

Toronto now has MLS and NBA championship teams. Next year, hopefully it will the Leafs' turn.
