I know there are thousands of dot APP domains expiring right now. Where are the auctions being held?

If not via auction how will expired .APPs return to the market?

I find this a strange question from a domainer since the year 2000.(looked a bit in your video), but this seems a newbie question. (anyhow to this forum- what's the best and well-known domainforum that exists) no offence intended), or you're searching new places where aftermarkets are where you can buy in Aftermarket auctions.

I presume that as .com, .net etc...after the expiration date "there's a grace period", of which the length depends from registrar to registrar, usually 40 and utltimittaly sometimes 42 days, but not all registrars have a grace period in which you can renew still at normal pricing (and sometimes durng this period the domains are still transferrable or not ; depending from registrar to registrar : mostly not).
This period is followed by what is called a (registry) redemption period of usually 30 days in which you still can renew but having to pay a 80 USD-250 USD Redemption Fee (some ask more) to get the domain out of Redemption.
Afer that : a 5 day pending delete period (in which the current owner has no right to renew no matter how much he offers, also no other people can register during that 5 days the domain that's going to drop). Somewhere on the 6th day (so AFTER the 5 day ending delete status) the domains comes available for the public again, at all registrars who give the possibility to register .app-domains. This "coming available again" to the public is also called "dropping" "drop" of a domain.

IMPORTANT : Some big registrars, are holding "aftermarket auctions." These are domains that are at the end of the grace period (!), actually 30 days after the grace period from some registrars I know, or so, and all domains are put for auction or firesale. Then the domain doesn't go to the Redemption Period, but is for the winner of the auction. Again depending from registrar to registrar the owner still can renew the domain during the auction period (paying a late renewal fee or whatever) or just after that auctionperiod, OR transfer the domain even if there is a winning bidder. (sometimes registrars their policies about that).

Search this forum to the words "dropping" "dropped domains" "pending delete domains", expired domains. domainauction(s), domainauction, auction .
And of course the word "aftermarket".
And the word "backorder." or backorder domains.
The latter : BACKORDER is also important : This are in fact orders to at certain companies where you can backorder domains : This costs mostly 69 USD. The word backorder in fact means that you order a domain before it drops at a company that can catch the domain the minute it comes available again. (There are several registrars that deliver this service : Some registrars catch better then the other : search the forum for these registrars). It is possible that a backorder you place at a certain registrar, for a specific word, is also placed by another customer of that registrar. Then a 3 day (or so) auction is held for that word. If you win the auction the domain is yours.

You can also PM ME to know more or to discuss your system (of your signature), a.o. eventual other questions you have or I have or specific tips or registrars or even .app-domains.

PS. : Your tag "auciton" to this post probably is a typo, and should probably be "auction".

sorry : the sentence somewhere in the middle should be " (sometimes regisrars change their policies about that)"

Wow. Way to not read his question and copy-paste in some canned response.. to what, pad your post count?

To answer the original question - I don't know where they go. It would be interesting to know because I let all of my .app names drop.

Hello,

You can search for .app domains in our expired auctions here:

https://www.dynadot.com/market/auction/

There is a filter section on our expired auction page that allows you to filter by TLD.

Best Regards,
Dynadot

Are these expired? They appear to be marketplace domains.

I'm wondering if expired domains will keep the high renewal rates. Then if they do and know one buys them what will happen with the price.

That and I'm wondering what domains are expiring. 🙂

And an echo of @barman that @Domainstore was a 100% complete waste of a reply. A pointless reply with attempts at insults mixed in.

I saw some very nice expiring .app on Dynadot recently, so can confirm that :)

As a general rule, when you get expired new gTLD domain name using registrar's expired domain sections, it will keep whatever renewal fee (standard or premium) was assigned to it.

This can change (afaik) only IF no one will catch it as described above, in which case registry have option (if they wish to do so) to reserve it back, or to reserve it, reprice it and re-release it, but this can happen only in case it completely expired. So in case you catch it (for example using Dynadot's expired domains section), it will keep it's original renewal rate (whatever it was, small or high). This is my understanding atm.

Regarding what you have called "market place domains" in your post, yes, sure, on Dynadot you are catching Dynadot's domain names, in Name.com you are catching Name.com's domain names, etc.

Those would be our expired domains, they're included under our marketplace section but kept separate from private listings and user auctions.

If you were to purchase a domain from our expired auctions it would be renewed for one year, and the next year's renewal would be at the standard cost. Currently for .app domains that would be $14.99.

@Dynadot

so if I would have, for example domain name realty.rentals (which has attached a premium renewal of approx. $120 at many registrars) registered at Dynadot (just an example), and I would then let it expire, then John can place a bid for it at expired domains section at Dynadot, and if no other bidder, it will be John's, and renewed for one year - year 1, and then:

A) renewals for next years (year 2,3,4 etc) will be again for standard renewal for .rentals ($25.99 at Dynadot) ?

OR

B) the years 2, 3, 4 etc will carry that $120 premium renewal per year, which was originally assigned to the domain name realty.rentals?

Or is it something else? Thanks for clarification :)

In that case, as the domain would be classed by the central registry as a premium domain, it would still renew at it's premium renewal price of $120, as that would be set by the central registry rather than ourselves.

i was asking the same question, and tell the fool who replied first to provide an answer before he mocks the question.

theres no doubt none of the dropping services know how to play premium drops, they cant collect enough up front with the regular fee, si im looking also for the drops

my questions, for names that are bought on EAP, do they drop at thier own dates, or does the first land rush drop include the EAPS?

There did seem to be some early registrations dropping from the zone. Would have to check which ones. Sometimes it could be domain names going dark (removing nameservers) but .APP is entering the Junk Dump. It is an unusual gTLD so the renewal rates may be higher than some of the less targeted ones.
