Create an account with false data.
"Buy" the domain.
Don't pay.
Sedo will create an agreement with seller's real data and your fake data.
Sedo won't reveal buyer's IP, or email, or phone: anything that matters.
Seller can take legal action, but against who? : noone !

Sedo never ever corrects its obvious mistakes. They repeat their excuse.
I don't mean Sedo is bad. It may be better than Afternic. (not sure)

DON'T SAY DOMAIN IS SOLD UNTIL PAYMENT IS MADE BECAUSE IT IS A LIE UNTIL PAYMENT IS MADE.

If domain is sold according to Sedo but I don't get the money, Sedo should pay me the whole amount.
Otherwise I may be just revealing my identity to crimilas, cheaters, spies, gvt agencies, robots, ..
And Sedo is a tool for doing it.

I can take legal action theoretically, but I won't be given info necessary for doing it. But my identity will be stolen and this is a normal part of business according to Sedo.

Yes I was thinking that too. Was probably better not to mention the method.

Holy crap.

I was aware that folks were gaming @Sedo by buying their own domains via MLS using stolen credit cards. However, what you are describing here is a new method and would be concerning for some people.

For folks who list domains at Sedo and wish to do so privately, if the domains are registered at Epik.com, we can list domains at Sedo and Afternic as your proxy.

That said, Sedo should review their disclosure practices.

Are you saying you can list them without a seller having an account with afternic?

If so, I assume the regular afternic commission fees would apply...what would epiks fees be?

If you wish, please share a link(s)...sorry for being lazy and not going to your site to search for this info. :xf.smile:

It is a fair question.

We would simply pass through the net proceeds that we receive from Sedo or Afternic for that transaction, commission-free for NamePros members with domains registered at Epik.

Sedo's sale agreement is pointless and and potentially can affect the seller specially if it's high value domain, the agreement should be between buyer and sedo! Seller already accepted Sedo's sale agreement.

That is awesome...if there is link to show how to do this, please share it. Thanks.

Yes, that is correct never ever release the domain property until you don't receive the money in your account. Agreement cant take any legal action if a fraud buyer is sitting outside of your reach.

(1) List the domains for sale at Epik with BIN or Make-Offer. Here is the how-to:

https://www.epik.com/support/knowledgebase/selling-and-leasing-domains-on-epik/

(2) Notify our support team to authorize listing your domains through the Epik Sedo account.

I will check with engineering if we can add that directly in the UX so that step 2 is accomplished directly through the control panel. That is the more scalable solution but need to review if we can do that for all, or more likely by approval for known/trusted customers only to avoid getting scammed.

Step (1) is open to all. For established NamePros members with domains at Epik, step (2) should almost always get approved.

Thank you...this would be a tremendous help and time saver it it could be done through the user interface. I've had an account with sedo for many years but prefer your marketplace. It would not hurt my feelings at all if you added a small percentage or fee to cover coding/admin costs...thank you...I will be getting in contact with support soon!

sedo will ask you for the auth code only after payment received
what exactly is the problem?

I have been facing this issue. What can i do by looking at buyer's details?

Just use Sedo escrow...
Their parking and marketplace are not needed at all.

Theoretically, you can hire a lawyer to pursue the buyer...

Not sure what's wrong with Sedo these days.... Out of topic... Last month I made a domain application to Sedo's Great Domain auction, Sedo's representative emailed me and suggested my reserve price to 49,999 Euros. So I did re-applied with the suggested reserve price yesterday and they just declined my application. Confusing.

"Sedo will create an agreement with seller's real data..."

With a exception @Sedo will don't reveal the seller data to the buyer , only thing that a buyer can see is from what country is the seller member & maybe year that make/have the account . So no sensitive data will be provide to fake buyer. Can see (the buyer) data from the seller if the buyer will make the payment for domain & ask for additional documents for their accountancy (VAT for example).

If some one want to buy & use a fake account & not pay after legal time period according to TOS of SEDO - will get nothing except a ban (account close)

I beleive this is true. At least it is definitely the case on initial stage (domain revew, shopping cart etc). So, what exactly the problem discussed in this thread is?

I am unsure what (if anything) extra becomes available to the buyer should they "accept" the transaction but select offline payment method such as bank transfer. Ot if they fail to select any payment method... If anything extra is disclosed to buyers before they paid - then it is not good at all.

Actually, however, most if not all EU-based Sedo buyers do request invoices (after the sale), so, yes, Sedo sellers should be prepared to disclose their identity and full address to the buyers, and frequently. Nothing prevents the seller from using P.O.Box address (with or without the street, city etc. where the post office is located) for invoicing purposes though. And, disclosing sellers company name or personal name (since it should also be included into the invoice) - after the domain is paid for and pushed/transferred - is not a big deal really. European VAT rules are too bureaucratic, yes, EU-based buyers must have invoices, from both EU- and non-EU based sellers...
