We have a wildly popular topic on namepros called reg of the day.

https://www.namepros.com/threads/your-reg-of-the-day.528260/

In other words, a hand registration showcase thread.

The thing I would like to know is from the over 35,000 replies....

1. Have any of the domains sold?

2. Are any in use for a successful site?

Discuss below

Reminds me a lot of one of mine
www.photograpp.com

A play on the last letter
I like these types of names....nice one.

Will be nice to see posts where a hand reg has been developed, must give the seller an extra feel good factor. It would for me if any of mine become a site.

From what I've posted there three out of fifteen or so went to end users (cast/designs com, word/surge com, tarf org), few went to resellers and the rest dropped. I had to donate the proceeds from tarf sale to the other potential buyer's organization after giving them false hope of owning the domain, still reluctant on buying .org

I understand the false hope part, but what entitles them to your profit?
They never owned the name and you are in business to make money, highest bidder wins right?

Regardless of hope, raise the bid, win the deal, you keep the profit.

I'd love to hear the story on this one.

I have dropped a few other picked up. I have noticed others have registered similar names I have posted. I also like their insight often educated to abbreviations and trends that never knew of. I haven't sold anything posted as "reg of day" but I post for feedback perhaps a backrub or a wake up call as we are all going solo. I never make it searchable but do appreciate opinions of other domainers.

I had previous negotiations open with the rehab association (now owner of tarf). After months of not hearing from them i assumed i had to find another buyer, don't remember if the autism research foundation emailed me first or not but also showed interest. They said they couldn't afford it right now but maybe in the future. I then heard back from the rehab center looking to buy it, I offered both parties option of auction wherever they wanted but I instead got an eye opening email from director at autism research foundation telling me I shouldn't be buying .orgs He said they were awaiting a fundraiser so they can purchase it and I felt bad for not setting an expiration on offers. I wish they could both have owned it but that's why domains are great, one of a kind. I think i bought one org since then (faaa)

My response would have been simple....

ORG is open for anyone to register therefore the highest bidder gets it.

Don't get me wrong I am not without feelings but I prefer not to get into a relationship with potential clients because that is when hurt feelings come in. I call them Mr or Mrs and keep everything polite. I also clearly state that I allow more than one bidder on a domain and the bidders will each be asked to make a last bid.

If someone says they need to fund raise I would not delay a current bid unless I thought I had a good chance of getting considerably more. A sale in the hand is better than a promise for a future sale.

I appreciate the good will you showed but I'm not sure I would have been as generous. I mean if I was really that generous then I would sell to all the students that ask me for a good deal :xf.wink: :xf.laugh: :xf.laugh: :xf.laugh:

Looking back I'm not sure I would have handled it differently, everyone was a winner in a way. I do have to get better at leaving my feelings aside when it comes to business, that email was designed to make me feel bad gg. Always polite and professional, can't even respond to those needing the name for a school project. :D

the only hand-reg I have ever sold is visiteiffeltower\com but it is since being used by the buyer, however just to catch traffic and direct to his main site :)
