First, GD is my favorite registrar so far.

Second, they do have bunch of bugs and the fact that they don't go away for months and years while new ones pop up regularly just baffles me.

Anyway, in this thread I will be posting the issues I am having and hopefully with the help of the magnificent @Joe Styler something starts happening.

So, the fresh one:

For about one week now, in the GD new interface, I select certain sorting of the names (let's say by appraised value) and it shows me first 500 names, then if I click the arrow for the next page, it gives me the rotating circle saying "loading" that won't go away for hours (yes, I have tested, while doing something else).

What worries me is that the new interface will become the only one, while it still lacks most of the functionality of the old one, but that is another thing for now.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i wouldn't touch the new panel from 1km

even selecting all names last nite when I tried it, only selected those on current page...

ridiculous really to put out something like this.. even as beta... with most basic things not working or missing.

just stick to the old panel plz. its good enough.

The two things so far that I find the new panel useful for are:

- sorting the names by GD appraised value (even though I don't believe they are perfect, they normally are doing good with top end names)

- adding the names and prices to afternic.

Another bug: tried to go around 500 limit (since 2nd page won't load) by choosing nameserver "domaincontrol.com" in filters. What do you know. It just loaded all names again.

With all due respect to GD, when I recently saw a banner "we will retire the old interface", the only thing I could think of was - OMG, NOT AGAIN.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Godaddy developers and marketing team should print the above slogan, put it on the wall, and read it each and every day at the beginning of the day. Why the history does not teach them?

This one keeps happening.

I'm already logged into GoDaddy. Go to GoDaddy Auctions to reply to an offer, have to login into GoDaddy Auctions, which isn't working and kicks me back the main screen login

First of all, I agree GoDaddy is my fave as well.

I tried replicating your situation by selecting 500 domains to display and I got to the second page in just over 1 second.

That one (bug) I think has been around for a while

The new GD interface (Domain Manager).
When you edit columns, for example you add 2 extra columns for nameservers and domain listing status, whatever selection you choose doesn't remain after you refresh the page.

The new interface is much faster and I like it much better.
The one problem I'm having is when I type into the search bar
the overtype feature messes up what I'm typing and I have to start all over
if I type very very slow, like one letter at a time and pause between letters then it is OK.

Didn't have this problem when it first came out
but been having it now for several days.

@Joe Styler

I got this when I tried to access the new interface of GD and now cannot enter the normal interface either.

Other recent bugs:

1. At auctions, when I click on specific domain to go to its page I get nginx error page instead.

2. On domain transfer, I tried to accept contact change requested before accepting the name and got "invalid" error. Had to do the "incognito" tab workaround. But, really? This error has been around for over a year and GD still works only with workaround? How do I explain it to a buyer?

How do i get back to the new interface? New interface suck**s...

The other issue i am facing is that i still have 2 domains in my account pending transfer in my account and and i am getting this message from last 7-10 days saying Account change in progress.

These domains were pushed into my account by another user. Should i cancel the transfer and ask the previous owner to push the domains again. Pushing domains should not be so complicated.

Old interface was much better but i guess someone always find a way to mess things up.

@Paul Nicks

A recent bug that persists: before, if I had to make a forwarding change, all I needed is select the names, select option "update nameservers if necessary" and it would get done. Now, if the nameservers are outside GD, then it will show error.

Workaround: need to change nameservers to "standard" first. Hopefully, this bug is fixed, as it is annoying to go 2 step and wait for nameservers to get updated and then do forwarding change. See the screenshot.

OK, now incognito tab did not help either and I still got "invalid" error. It also kindly advises users to keep trying. Supposedly, after 100+ tries it might work. So how do I allow for the transfer to happen?

Guys, the whole point of professionals holding their portfolios with GD is enabling sales. In this case, it is directly interfering and creating a problem.

I realize that I can call my agent and he might help me (which I will do), but I find it annoying and time consuming to do this for ever growing list of issues.

Isn't it time to spend relatively small amount, hire great programmers and resolve all these nagging/growing list of issues once and for all??

The agents, and myself are compiling any issues and meeting with the developers regularly to clear things up with them if things are broken.

Godaddy domain manager is I am sorry to say far from good in several ways. I have called numerous times about bugs or poor programming and usability issues (especially involving a lack of or poor bulk operations) first discovered months or years ago and they rarely if ever get fixed.

Now with the new advanced panel there are even more problems. The list of issues is too long and hard to recall them all to post here. With all their massive wealth and market domination I find it incredible they do not hire good programmers.

That is great. But I am yet to witness any issue to go away and new ones keep rolling in!!!

Here are two more:

1. On both old and new interface for many domains it does not show where it is forwarding, even if the forwarding exists and works. So now I have to guess for which names I have set it, and for which I haven't.

2. When you add names to afternic through new interface, you select names, choose prices etc. then click submit. And unless you just logged in and straight went for this task, then it will give you error message (see the screenshot). Basically, you have to remember to login and straight go for this. If you went to auctions first, or were away for 5-10 minutes, the interface will seem working, will show you everything, but in reality for adding and some changes, you are logged out. So why not either keep session for reasonable time or really log out instead of this pseudo-alive session?

Same problem.

Only option given there is Cancel Transfer - all other options are greyed out.

And can't access the info I had entered for new registrant details - no way to check if that is the issue. Because the email address entered into the Accept Transfer form has to be correct or you will not get the link emailed to you to accept transfer. So if there was a typo there you will never know, you can't check.

I think this is the beginning of the end for GoDaddy. Sorry, but this is just ridiculous, when a multi-billion dollar company, that is the biggest one of their category can't fix sh** like this. I remember having these problems almost 2 months ago & losing my sales because of it. Also they've said "We're going to get it fixed in couple weeks" and now I see this still going on.. That is a major failure. I haven't registered anything at GoDaddy for those last months, I now highly prefer Dynadot and NameCheap instead. They don't have these kind of problems.

What happens if we opt for Cancel Transfer?

Can we then just start over or is there a big delay?

Ridiculous that you have to type in new registrant info each time - should be able to insert from template, this is a recipe for mistakes.

The person pushing the domain has the option to resend the email via a GD form to the new registrant with the link to click to accept transfer - but that will be useless if the email address of the new registrant contains a typo.

https://uk.godaddy.com/help/resend-a-domain-account-change-email-6044

Resend a domain account change email
After starting a domain account change, we send an email to the new account holder to accept the domain. If the new registrant can't find that email or accidentally deleted it, you can resend it at any time.

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy Domain Control Center. (Need help logging in? Find your username or password.)
  2. From the Domains tab in the top menu, select Pending Account Changes.

Sorry, but this is just ridiculous, when a multi-billion dollar company, that is the biggest one of their category can't fix sh** like this

They bought Afternic several years ago and never fix stuff there, even simple stuff that takes five minutes to fix:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/problems-bugs-and-fixes-at-afternic-report-problems-here.1006373/

There has been a steep decline in the quality of GD support, it was better when they had email support. I only use GD when I have no choice, and transfer out all domains. Dealing with GD wastes time in a way that my other registrars do not, and I have little confidence in GD support.

@Joe Styler

More serious bug now: I am not getting my 2 step verification code. I have been trying many times, different browsers, phone etc. Nothing is coming.

I am in the US, T-mobile. Was working fine just couple of hours ago. I missed few auctions because of this.

It's not been working for 2-3 hours for me.

@Joe Styler @Paul Nicks

I understand that you guys are already tired of all the reports and nothing happening on the IT side of your company, but something has to be done. Just ignoring the accumulating issues is making things get out of hand completely. Just check out the sales report where one person on days informed that simple GD to GD push did not work, so he had to transfer out to Google Domains.

Now my sale is about to get completely cancelled, because buyer sees only "cancel" option, while "accept" option is greyed out. He cancelled after waiting for 3 (!!!) days with the domain hung in "in progress" status. I have reinitiated it again, but have little faith this will go smooth.

I have almost 3000 names with you guys and growing at few hundred a months, but this all makes me to reconsider my options going forward, especially if I get any sales lost because of this.
