Hi,

Just on BBC news break Facebook launching "GlobalCoin", keyword GlobalCoin is getting registered like anything. Facebook hasn't announced its name though.

Is it worth to register one?

Thanks
MaX

yes they certainly have the audience but they have to call the tokens something and i believe it will far removed from globalcoins as that just seems to contrived and quite basic for a company with the $ they have they can call them anything far removed from the obvious and they will sell. a brandable short name ez to spell and trendy.

will it have coins in the name? most likely as thats what they r. tokens? i highly doubt it as thats an old antiquated word and too long. face? doesnt make sense. book? book coins? doesnt make any sense. face coins? sounds weird. bit? possibly but why follow bitcoins name?

i think it will be called totally far removed from anything else.
One thing is certain whatever the name be it will be xxxxCoin not token.

They applied for "Libra" trademark, could be "LibraCoin". But, best would be "FbCoin" since FB is already widely used brand for them.

im leaning towards librasomething, or just libra. fb has the tm on libra now and its short memorable and brandable.

I'd rather say that a company like Facebook will have domains and trademarks secured once it publicly announces a name.

GlobalCoinPayments

GlobalCoinCryptocurrency

(In .com extensions)

I like these generic names, can be used by any cryptocurrency global payment company. What do you think?

I don't think it is worth it to register any new domain with "globalcoin".

Who will the buyer be? Domain investor or an end user?

Since it is obvious that FB can only go for one domain name for their new coin. Unless you know what I don't already know, my advice is that you stay away from such trademarked names.

“Global coin” is a generic and descriptive word!
In use by various businesses.

Yes, it's looking like "Libra" may be part of the name. Interestingly, Zuck has been in talks with the twins behind Gemini. They have the "Gemini Dollar."

Putting the pieces together, my guess, Zuck will roll out the "Libra Dollar."

So they are using astrological signs for their names for some reason?

I doubt it's dollar because they will peg this to different currencies, so can't be dollar/euro/inr imo...Best would be coin I guess

yup...but my best guess is...simple "Libra"...they may have already acquired Libra.com
I agree.

Are you just suspecting they have acquired Libra.com or do you have some sort of evidence?

I couldn't find any evidence as of yet.

I just bought "DinheiroGlobal.com", "DinheiroFacebook.com" and "CoinMZ.com".
In Brazilian portuguese, "dinheiro" means money. I did not use the word "coin" because here no one uses it as a replacement for money. But just in case, I also bought "MoedaGlobal.com" that literally mean Global Coin. Furthermore, in portuguese, we put the adjective or adverb after the noun and not before like in English. In the last word the letters MZ stand for Mark Zuckerberg.
What is your opinion ? Was it a good investment ?

Facebook is a trademark name... delete that fast. The other regs are speculative, but not with much behind them. Also, buy names global buyers may want, not just in your neck of the woods.

Hi Rory
But if there is a problem with trademark, why godaddy is offering these domain names to buy ?:
facebookfundraising.com
facebooksolarenergy.com
iconfacebook.com

Godaddy doesn't sell these names themselves. They offer a open marketplace and individuals post these names for sale at their own risk. It is our responsibility to do our due diligence and stay away from copyrights, atleast the obvious ones. Don't follow others. You think a big company like facebook, wouldn't protect their name?

If you go to facebookfundraising.com, you will see it goes to undeveloped.com and the seller, uses "domain administrator" as their username. I've seen this username quite a number of times so I know it's another domainer from namepros selling it. And trust me if it was legal to sell, it would not be listed for $480. It would be worth alot more. But it's worthless, because you cannot develop or do anything with someones copyrighted name. Even FB is copyright... Apple, Microsoft etc....
