My question is this.

Lets say I find an incredible .com on a registrar site and its a banger. Is it wise to buy every extension I can with it? And then seek to sell as a package?

My thought process is that If I find an incredible domain like GoldMan.com (Not Mine), and I know its worth upwards of 10k. If I just sell it as a .com there's going to be a bunch of overflow, in other words people buying up other extensions if its a good one.

I'f I was a buyer buying something like Goldman.com for my business and website, I would'nt want a bunch of other extensions out there. I would want to buy them all as a package if I could and redirect them to my .com right?

Who has experience with this?

Thanks.

It's case-by-case. I would probably just buy the .com and expect the end user to register a TM if it's that valuable. Renewal fees can add up. Factor that in to your decision. If it's a tech name I'd consider getting the .net to go with it, if for some reason I knew it was a sure thing, because some companies do use both.

Think of it this way. Focus your energy on supplying the goods, not keeping the baddies out.

^ What @Bernard Wright said above. It's the .com is where the money is. If it is what you say.

Well you can buy Gold dot men that would certainly assist with the branding. Also perhaps goldmen dot net to secure a brand package. If the scenario was real.

Yes you can buy other TLDs & put a redirect to .COM main domain , that way you can have complete set of TLDs for a main domain , but make sure if you are ready to pay the price for all the domains as well as its renewal charges in the coming years.
Ofcourse if you wanted to build a brand out of the domain name , yes you can buy all the TLDs.
I have purchased 4 - 5 TLDs for one of my main .COM domain & redirected all the other TLDs to my main .COM domain .
Hope this helps :)

Lets say you couldn't get a gem of a dot com with gold keyword. As mentioned the example wasn't yours. If you could find a type in that worked with extension .dot gold you may also benefit. eg: best domain including gold in keywords dot com available vs rose dot gold perhaps available and may work as type in. I just wanted to throw in an after thought as there is more to consider if you could claim a type in. Sure dot com is always first but the biggest gain maybe achieved with a combination of sites. Sure we sell domains for sites but brands chase generic names so we also sell names to existing sites when they already have a domain if it can assist their brand product or service. So sometimes others extensions could assist. eg If you started trying to by as many gold dot cc domains as could and any closely relevant gtld I wouldn't call it a bad move if the primary type of domains your buying were gold related.

You will not ever buy ALL extensions with this domain, so better register only .com, for 3-4-5 years... :)

I would never buy eg goldmybrand in anything other than dot com as it would have no type in value but I might fuel it with some other gold dot extension. As a domainer I would only try to get what could sell.

would you care to share which TLD's you considered worthy of registering. And if anything weird... then why?
