Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Hi guys.

I've been since the beginning of the year without selling any domain related to virtual reality tech. However, the offers on this niche have increased. Is there more interest from domain investors? Are there fewer end users? In any case, I believe that the market is still interested in this technology and it is only a matter of time that it matures.

Good hunting and sales !

Does it really matter what other domain investors are buying? It's all about what the end users are buying.

Just gauging the sentiment concerning VR from those professionals. They still seem to think it's a short term niche, that will vanish with time. When they discover it's forever and bring their big money....should bump up VR domain prices. You're right though, VR end users are growing with better products every day. Oculus quest seems to be a game changer for users.

I bought it from someone that bought it from a dynadot drop I think. Wasn't me who outbid you ;) - I'm the sucker who paid up to acquire it from previous auction winners.

Not surprised at all about Google. They wouldn't close it down if they had a large user base and I don't think they would have one these days. Technology is improving all the time. Cameras are obsolete before they hit the market. There's a lot of options out there now and most people who could afford Jump probably moved on to better things.

4 years ago I had about 50+ vr and ar .coms of all types. i let them all lapse, not one response. maybe toay they would be better and i see some r still available to reg but imo its pointless now. Im always too early in the game and when the game comes to town the domains lapse as i cannot afford to renew every year. alos i lose interest if zero happens.

I owned vr backpack.com too no one cared then as im sure now its not a big deal.

also namebio shows vr domains that dont sell for a wholelot overall. the niche is over saturated now

You're right...VR domains has been a really slow game. That said, good VR expiring names that would get little interest a year ago, are getting $100-$300 bids now. Folks aren't getting rich, but at least fair demand and a couple of sales will pay for renewals now. For example these just sold per namebio...therapyVR $269, VRclasses $701, VRNY $1605, VRwarehouse $229, IonVR $229, $VRstorm $138, VRcgi $268, VRsportsBetting $115, VRfetish $3000, VRism $101, SlutVR $2000, AirVR $500.

It seems to me that VR/AR/XR are some of the more-promising industries at the moment. Maybe we’ve still some time before the trend really starts, but it makes sense to get in early.

yea i saw those. some pretty bogus names and the prices suck. what a waste of time and energy i put into it. ar vr did squat and will maybe do better but it will take another 3-5 years maybe and by then it will be not vr but supervr.

just like oled and amoled. i was in it 6 years ago and that led to zip.

the domain biz is the most fickle and bizarre place to be period. if u dont have rs or fs money u r dragging the bottom for scraps

get in early?? man alive mate i was in it 4 years ago, wasnt that early enough? too early? hmm

and id bet not one of those ar vr domains I held all .com by the way and very well researched as i do would be worth max $2000 for the best one if that. what a waste

Now is “early”, so four years ago would have been too early. Agreed that domain investing is proving uncertain and fickle. The promise of these VR/etc domains is that they are synonymous with their products. You can invest in OLED domains but the consumer will never go to OLEDkw.com. I think these VR domains might be more integrated with the product; consumers are more likely to visit the websites, and thus, the domains hold more value than a cannabis/OLED/etc.

hmm so since i was in it 4 years ago i would have been 6-8 years too early! lol

see what i mean about domaining. if u have the foresight to reg early u need the $ to hold them for a LONG time! so all u newbies if u r in this crazy biz buy a few good .coms in a growing industry and hold them for years until the niche becomes a household name.then sell, dont reg everything you find and hope u sell it within the first year, as the renewals will break you. reg a few and hold them and renew each year until hopefully it becomes a popular niche

or just buy lotto tickets! ps thats what i also do lol

You almost have to be rich to play the game as a full time job domainer...like the King. https://www.ricksblog.com/2019/05/domainkings-list-of-33-domain-name-sales-1999-2019/#.XOmrCRZKhaQ

Added my 3rd VR domain the other day... picked it up on namepros...

UKVR.com

I don't buy a lot of VR domains and am very selective but this one kind of spoke to me because it could be dual purposed for an acronym for a business as well.

So I add that to my VRStick.com and MapleVR.com as my third VR domain.

I don't plan on any more unless they somehow speak to me (maybe I'm losing my mind :xf.laugh:)

I'm continuing to downsize my portfolio - see signature. I've sold a couple this week and I expect to sell a few more given the selection of domains and price. I'll regret selling some! But I remind myself that I'm still holding onto a lot of excellent domains. I also acquired a domain recently that easily slides into my top 10 domains. I'm still trying to decide if I should sell it or develop it. The problem is I have about 10 others that I want to develop too!:xf.grin:

Overall, the last couple years for sales were pretty slow. The last few months have improved quite a lot. Domains are an investment. That doesn't always mean your investment will pay off tomorrow. Long-term is where it's at. A few more years from now, VR will be everywhere. It might not even take that long. Valve Index and Oculus Quest will boost VR awareness a lot. Whatever happens with XBOX 2 and PS5 will certainly have a huge impact on VR. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people who purchase those consoles will also purchase a VR headset along with them.

As more companies develop VR content, advertising will be competitive and the demand for VR domains will increase. It's inevitable. It wasn't until just a few years ago that it became essential for companies to develop responsive websites to support mobile phones. I believe a few years from now, it will become standard for website developers to support VR.

I dont really get the talking about sales and not providing any details about it in a systematic way.

I rejected two offers for VrShowcase / king recently. I'm holding firm for the current BIN I have. But seems there's for sure life in the old VR market and I will try to acquire more names soon.

I talk about sales, but I don't normally mention what domains sold out of respect for the buyers who might want their privacy.
