Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
That too big too fast looks like the massive amount of basic/basic plus listings that hit the site and appear to be in a much larger proportion compared to Premium. Some of the names are really bad and don’t belong there.

I can see that being a problem eventually with people weeding through some bad names to get to better ones. It’s a free for all right now. I think it would have been wiser to limit how many you can have on Basic per account. People would have to be more choosey if not able to upload everything and the kitchen sink.

Basic/Basic plus, are they searchable?

@GrantP Please I need clarification

When submitting an unregistered name, what does "this name has been submitted to the marketplace before" mean?

Does it mean that

a. The name has been submitted before & rejected by SH

b. The name was preapproved but rejected by the creative

@Regietron it can be either of these scenarios. In case of unregistered domains, we currently do not allow the submission of same name by a different creative. In the past we used to allow this but it led to quite a bit of confusion because the names were getting registered on behalf of the second creative while the original creative was unclear why that was happening.

We might revisit this in future but at this stage we would like to keep the submission of unregistered domains simple. You are, however allowed to register the name yourself and submit it as a registered name even if it was previously submitted as an unregistered domain by a different creative.

One thing I personally will avoid is bumping up any listings to increase visibility β€œboost visibility”. SH charges you 500 points to do this. I tested it with 5 of my listings, it bumped them up but there were still thousands of names shown above mine which resulted in no or little boost in views, no leads and no boost in shortlists. Not worth doing in my mind.

The only way I could see this being beneficial is if it boosted your listing to the first page of the marketplace, otherwise there is little benefit.

@JudgeMind, can you share how many views and shortlists did you had for the two names, in the moment they have sold and how many views/shortlists you have for you best names?

One name was only listed for two weeks. Had 500 ish views and 9 shortlists

Other was listed for 6 weeks. Had 21 shortlists and around 1000 views.

My top names have 30+ shortlists and >3000 views. But no buyers interested. I believe that 99% of my views are coming from type in traffic and backlinks. These names had high views when parked too. Name with most views is Vib.io, but it’s because of the crypto coin Vib or viberate. Lots of backlinks and type ins. I’ve requested to have this name removed from SH as they weren’t willing to increase the price.

Then their impact on the visibility of premium listings is insignificant.

When I go to the new listings each day there are significantly more non premium than premium. They do in fact effect search results.

I thought that only premium names showed in the marketplace?

Really? Are you certain about this? @GrantP what's the true visibility of basic/basic plus in the marketplace, because it makes no sense having them compete with premium (curated) listings.

Me too.

Basic and Basic Plus listings are not searchable in the Premium Domain Marketplace. There is one exception to this rule:

If a Basic Plus listing is submitted to contests and receives high number of likes in a reasonable period, it is automatically "upgraded" to be visible in the Premium Domain Marketplace. This represents about 3-5% of our total Basic Plus listings.

All Basic and Basic Plus listings are searchable in a separate section of our site:

https://www.squadhelp.com/premium-domains-for-sale/all?bl=1

This link is visible in the footer of most of our pages.

So the short answer is that they do not "compete" with the premium listings (for the most part).

I was having the same issues on mobile, before @Haykay2005 suggested I use PC. So I will advise you to use your PC it will go through..

Good to know. I never realized there were Premium listings priced under $1999. I just assumed people with lower price domains would go the route of more affordable commission. So do the non premium not get logos then?

My domain just got shortlisted twice.
Is it a good thing? did anyone sell a domain with only 2 shortlists? new to the marketplace.

Some domains in the marketplace have over 100 shortlists and still unsold.
Some names have sold with less than 10 shortlists.

Don't lay your hopes too much on that metric.

@GrantP May I know what SH meant by " Since you are a contest holder, you will be able to purchase this premium name at discounted price"?

This qoute shows in one of my premium names submitted to a contest.

Initially,I taught if a premium name is purchased through contents, CH has to pay for the marketplace price and seller/creative will receive normal comission attached to the name if it sells.

Kindly clarify this pls
