The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I don't see any value. Suggest to find better names to keep

Can you still grace delete them?

Especially a few of them, you have to look at them closely just to separate the words and pronounce. When you have to do that it’s a sign, for future reference I am suggesting, to leave the names alone (not register them).

Thank you for the feedback - I'm not sure of the grace delete process on GoDaddy but I bought them on the 19th already.

That's a very good tip, thank you!

You might still be able too. I never grace deleted there, so don't know if you can. If not, consider it a down payment on your domaining education.

Not looking to earn thousands, just make back a tiny bit as these are my first ones. They seemed to be valuable on the GoDaddy appraisal but I have since learnt that the value of a domain is much more fluid than that.

Would any of you suggest a way I get get rid of them for a few dollars and start fresh?

Hello Giloopy - welcome aboard (y)

My suggestion would be to keep them and use them as a barometer for a year. See if you get any inquiries and as you come up to expiration use it as a lesson to learn for your next registrations.

Sometimes you have to renew them two or three times to learn the lesson but it is a lesson nonetheless.

A big plus is your lesson is only on five domains, I have seen domainers learn the lesson with 500 domains.

I still have one of my lesson domains over 10 years later. I use it as a reminder that it has NEVER had an inquiry and to think long and hard everytime I hit the submit button.

Great to see your enthusiasm :xf.smile:

Godaddy appraisals snags more money from newbies, great concept they came up with here.

You can take 5 jibberish letters, and it will still give you a 4 figure appraisal.

Nobody has commented on why expiring domain listings have higher appraisal, than godaddy's actual appraisal page.

I'll give you a real world example to answer your Q about whether you might be able to sell them now for a profit.

The domain hepatitiscures dot com was sold for $1. here in June 2018. Before that, in April 2017, it was dropped (the domain actually shows a drop history of four times over its lifetime), meaning that no one thought it was worth even keeping.

This means that whoever picked it up, probably in July 2017, actually lost money on it, paying the reg fee for it and selling it a year later in 2018, for $1.

Today, it was sold for $29.

So you may see that even with a name that may have some value, someone who paid $1. for it plus the one year registration of even let's say just $8., $9. total, made only $20. after holding it for a year. And that's a name that might have some value.

No one here sees any value in your names, so you may decide for yourself whether they would sell for any profit. If you are stuck with them unable to grace delete you might try auctioning them off here at NamePros but I doubt anyone will bid even $1. for any of them.

Don't waste your money renewing bad domains when you can use that same money to get better names. I suggest you don't ever use any automated appraisal tool to determine the value of a domain name. It will take you years to learn how to value domains well, so hide your credit card. I guarantee you look back 3 years from now and be thankful you took my advice. :xf.rolleyes:

I'm overwhelmed by all of the great advice I got here, thank you so much.

I bought the Exodus course and got a bit carried away when I thought I could spin my $1 domain into at least a few times that! Also got blinded by the GoDaddy Appraisal of course.... Lessons learnt!

Last question for now -- if the grace delete option is not on the table, would my best bet be to:
1) Run a Clickbank offer on these domains for the time being that is potentially relevant to the domain
2) Advertise it with affiliate commission on WarriorPlus (as the Exodus guys recommend)
3) Put it for sale on other platforms like Sedo / GoDaddy itself etc.

I'm not totally convinced on the WarriorPlus route. But maybe it's just because my domains turned out to be way less 'sexy' than I thought :)

Once again, I feel so welcomed here by all of your responses!
