I thought this is a good way for me to share some names and see what results from it without taking the risk. I want to register some of these myself but rather than make more beginner mistakes I will sit back, watch and learn from any feedback. I couldn't resist grabbing one myself though. Can you guess which one? :)

Let us know which names you like / dislike and if you make a bet by grabbing any. Thank you.

This really shows the limitations inherent with automated valuations.

Good luck and happy betting, future!

Yes it does and the limitations of the experts in this game because someone programmed it.

Not really.

Valuation cannot really be automated, no matter how brilliant the programmer is with domains.

Are you a programmer? That sounds defensive.

No. If I was a programmer, I wouldn't have time to obsess on domains.

What is often elusive is that domains cannot be valued by an appraisal formula, the way diamonds and real estate are.

Domains are valued, in some respects, like fine art. Their uniqueness is a blessing and a curse. Comparable sales only go so far in their usefulness.

There is a chasm of value between money.com and noney.com.
Visually, the difference is not huge. But, one is meaningful and the other is not.

Each domain is inherently unique from the others, preventing the creation of an industry standard appraisal formula.

If domain values could be automated, banks could finance domain acquisitions. Currently, that's not possible.

You speak my mind... or rather what I have been drumming for years. Any appraisal, no matter how thorough it seems, is a waste of time.

Platforms like Estibot - all they do is play spoilers in domain aftermarket, creating doubts about domain values to end users.

Just to update this list as to what has changed with these domains I posted as available almost one year ago. I didn't actually register any from the list even though I stated that I did. :) I probably was about to, and thought better of it, or I removed the one domain name that I did register, which I do still own.

betzion dot com - Hit the like button if you're jealous ;)

Anyway, here is what has happened so far according to GoDaddy. Can anybody spot any trends or draw any conclusions other than, most of these domain names are bad?

Also, just by reviewing these names, from almost a year later, it has given me ideas for a ton of new names and words to use instead of some of the ones I used back then. This list can be vastly improved by following some of the associations I tried to make with keywords by using better terms, removing instances of "the" and by mixing and matching the keywords in some of these domain names.

I will not be investing in new names anymore, but want to see what can else be learned from this?

Thanks for the update!

I was never trying to criticize you or the list.

Just observing how automated appraisals are somewhat destined to generate values abstractly.

It’s a problem for all of us who play this game.

No hard feelings - What can you spot from this data? - I see that red text means the domain name went down in price and green went up! ;)
