I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
After all, I can't even sell any of them for 50-60 days.

But if they remain at the same registrar, can't you do an account change at anytime? Or is it really no changes at all in the first 60 days?

Edit: https://cira.ca/registrant-faqs

How can I remove the 60 day lock from my domain name?

A 60 day lock is only applied to new domain name registrations and when transferring a domain from one Registrar to another. When applied, the lock prevents the domain name from being transferred from one Registrar to another and cannot be removed early. If the account is locked for any other reason please contact your Registrar.

I’m quite certain you can push it into another account at the same Registrar. You just can’t transfer it into different account at a different registrar.

I think it depends on the Registrar policies as well, but I never go for "pushes" as a buyer, as that's the easiest way to get scammed. Best to get a transfer code and take it far, far away.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Weekly Picks for May 15 is now online!

After getting an unheralded 50 LLL domains dumped on us last week, we had a massive 72 (!) LLL domains hit this week, but at least 2 of them were premium. The single-words were about on the same level, with lots of quantity but very limited quality. Our Top Picks list clearly highlights this trend, as our selections include two of each group...

So has anyone ever see more than 72 dropped LLLs on a single TBR list?

I don’t recall seeing so many. There are a lot of Q’s” on the list. Many starting with Q. There are only about 3 or 4 of the 3 letters I would go after. I’m going to take a wild guess and say that most of these were registered by a well known domainer a few years ago and have now decided to let the weaker 3 letters drop in their portfolio.

Nope and other than the two I picked (which are both aged and premium) the rest of semi-palatable pack are all bad pennies that continually get registered, then dropped a year or two later, then re-registered, then dropped - for those purchased on the TBR it's a LOT of money lost.

These may look better-than-low-end letter-wise, but there seems to be no business use for them, other than potentially a random startup - which is like a lottery. Check out the WHOIS history.

And there is a lot of Q-, X-, and Z- junk that could be from anywhere (it all looks to be recent) and I am referring to this week's spoiled cream of the lower-end crop, that seems to get passed around like a....

So which do you think will go first and to who?

Me, I have JET.CA clawing out a slim victory over WILDCAT.CA, and with MyID (naturally) getting both.

It's a very top-heavy list this week, and it'll be interesting to see how many domains get selected overall.

Well, FastWebServer lived up to its name by snagging JET.CA first, while both MyID and Sibername got totally annihilated by POOL, which literally owned the Top 20.

Then again, some of the Top 10 picks were kinda uhhhhh... :grumpy: so I'm not sure if they're winners or losers.

Crazy week, and zaniest of all, 130 selections, way over what I thought would go.

Top 10: POOL (7), FastWebServer (2), Baremetal (1)
POOL also got 11 of the top 15!
MyID's first pick was at 22 and Sibername waited until 30 - Hahahaha :xf.laugh::xf.laugh::xf.grin:

1 jet.ca
2 wellies.ca
3 saskatoonsaskatchewan.ca
4 bookends.ca
5 requirements.ca
6 adds.ca
7 diningchairs.ca
8 pardons.ca
9 pst.ca
10 mashups.ca

Oh yeah, and our strange little friend 2537244 ONTARIO INC. picked up:

kgic.ca
freeradioonmyphone.ca
neighbourlinkcalgary.ca
makingmakers.ca
bccrin.ca

I don't know about you guys but I would much rather deal with pool than myID.

I have not used pool in quite a while and I may look at them again to see if I can get a few.

So pool has jet?

Me too, and it's FastWebServer that has JET.CA.

And just to spread the pain, I had a terrible week.

All the premium ones I bid high on are now at auction, the mid-range sleepers I was high and sole bidder at a few places I just lost out on (based on my own estimates on bid placement) to other registrars, but naturally I managed to pick up 2 lame domains that I initially liked by now don't even want.

Yeaaah me!

Yeah, I have no idea how the TBR is run at FastWeb, whether it's auction or the high bidder wins the domain automatically, but I should find that out.

Same here. Names are pushed into your Rebel account that are caught at Pool. Rebel is great to deal with and transfer out is automatic.

Just be sure you get Rebel to disable the auto-renew functionality. Then they're aces to deal with.

30 min before the auction I had a brilliant not to be lazy and register with pool and sibername for TBR but got stifled by both registration process just long enough:)

Does fastwebserver has more potential to pick up top names against the establishment? maybe they aren't used much. They seem to have their moments and come through on top.

Always love to see what domains got picked up by "our little strange friend":)

No idea, but anything you could find out about their processes and procedures would be appreciated.

I think jet would be a great buy, and hold, given the .com came out of penticton, to the same buyer, who is now Walmart I believe.

I would think the house keeps that one for themselves.

FastWebServer has an auction procedure and a tiered bidding system for multiple bidders on the same name. I've tried them a couple of times with no effect(affect?). They could potentially have caught it clean if there was only one bidder.

The guy I set up my account with had to verify my credit card by taking a buck or two and then refunding it - the reason being they won some names and the bidder didn't pay. Naturally I asked for the list of names that weren't paid for, but he wouldn't share them.

A good detective could go back over the TBR results and figure it out.

Happy hunting!

I think the sleeper this week was Pardons.ca

I remember reading years ago that 30% of Canadian born males have a criminal record, mostly DUI's and MJ possession. It's a booming business at around $1000 a pop.

Thanks for the info, but I seriously doubt that JET.CA would have only one bidder, as it went to pre-auction status almost immediately at the TBR places I use.

Is FastWebServer similar to others, where multiple bids over $XXX or hitting a max $XXX bid auto-enables an auction? If so, do you know the exact dollar amounts and procedure?

That went #8 so it wasn't sleeping too hard.

I'm mostly referring stuff that usually goes in the 20-40+ range, good names where you can still be the sole high bidder without hitting auction status, but it all depends on when your server slot comes up.
