Earlier today, Elliot Silver reported that Coins.com sold for 7 figures.
Adam would not share the purchase price or terms of the deal with me, although he did confirm that it was a seven figure deal.

Since acquiring the domain name, the buyer has already received offers of almost $10 million.
Adam mentioned that since acquiring Coins.com, he has been contacted by quite a few of the larger crypto-companies and exchanges who have either tried to buy Coins.com or have proposed other types of deals. I was told that the domain name is not for sale, and is only bring positioned with a major joint venture in mind, despite receiving offers of “almost $10 mm from existing crypto players.”

By the way, Which is a better name - Crypto.com or Coins.com? Even though I love Coins.com, my vote goes to Crypto.com

tbh coins is the informal term for crypto. Like, no one calls tokens coins, because they're a subset of another crypto (eth, waves, etc.)

But this domain is so versatile because it also applies to collectors' coins and money

all one needs to know is :

1) coinbase = $9b value
2) coinmarketcap
3) cointelegraph
4) stable"coins" = hottest sector in crypto
5) the coins themselves (bitcoin, ETH, etc) vs. tokens are so dominant 95% to 5%

crypto vs coins ?

i would say coins because crypto is too dark and underworld - like. i think coins is a natural winner for a) breadth it covers for the entire category, b) consumer friendliness and c) the existing success of players like coinbase etc...which use the term coin (as opposed to the word crypto).

overall, IMO coins.com is the winner as it achieves consumer mass brand appeal better than all

Coins is perfect.

And, in certain uses, it beats Coin too. For example, for an exchange, media, real coin sales etc.

Agreed - “in certain uses”

Both are top-notch crypto domains right there. I personally prefer Crypto.com but it doesn't get much better than Coins.com, which would make a great brand hedge against the Crypto term becoming evergreen.
The word Coins is a lower risk brand word than the very modern term Crypto.

Smartest comment I've seen so far. well said (although I prefer coins over crypto, but i agree with your overall statement and sentiment).

Josh - I've seen you post before and I mostly disagree with every comment you make. with all due respect I'm sure you're a smart guy, but I'm not overly impressed with the names you're pushing on your site nor the way you are positing them...hence why I also disagree with most of your statements. limited in vision and scope in terms of consumer scale. they are all boilerplate.

yes, I agree. an exchange (coinbase, Binance etc...), marketplace (hotels.com, cars.com), media (coinmarketcap, coindesk, etc..), hybrid (bitcoin.com), real coins....etc....those just happen to be all massively valuable.

Coin.com for $75k would be a pure steal. That's VERY lowball imo.

Coin and coins are equally valuable assets and it now depends on the needs of the end user. The philosophers says "beauty is in the eyes of the beholders"

That is domain names for you. especially, crypto related domain names are very valuable and can spring surprises when you don't even expect it.

Coins is better than Coin, as in the world there isn't only 1 coin. IMHO
I think it is a great domain

In most cases in domain's world; the believe is that singular is better and if you look at it very well coin.com covers anything about coins. when searching you can search for coin or coins the coin will come up and you can sell anything coins on the site.

although you are correct, in this particular case, the plural (coins) outweighs the singular (coin).

Wouldn't say most cases. Been some fantastic 6 figure+ domain plural domain sales last 6 month.

Files/Coins/Plants/Tokens/Leads/Taxes just from the top of my head.

So plurals are in high demand and are potentially valuable assets.

Games better than Game.
Movies better than Movie
Cars better than Car.
Airlines better than Airline.
