Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Received this message just now....From SquadHelp Announcement

**Updated Announcement**

We had previously sent an announcement regarding expanded installment plans for 12 months and 24 months.
We understand that some sellers want more flexibility about how many months of installments to offer on their domains. We agree with this, and we are pleased to announce some additional changes related to installment options.
You can now setup custom installment options by making bulk changes to your domains. From your Marketplace Listings page, select multiple domains and click "Edit Domains".
From the popup, you can now select an installment option that works for you. You can also disable installments from the section.
We believe that by offering longer periods of installments, we would be able to sell even more domains to buyers who are looking for more affordable, monthly payment options.
At this point, the 24 month option will only be offered for domains priced at $2000 or above.
We have updated our Terms to allow for longer installment durations. There are no other changes to our policies related to how we handle installment payouts to sellers. Here is a link to our Installment Terms:

https://helpdesk.squadhelp.com/domain-marketplace/marketplace-domain-installments-terms-for-sellers
If you had previously enabled installments on your domains, they would stay enabled with the default "6 months" option. You can change them to 12 months or 24 months using the steps mentioned above.
We are committed about improving our platform every day, so please keep the feedback coming!

Found it. That should be chooseable beforehand

Has anyone ever sold a premium name through contest and got a full commission attached to the premium name, not than the award prize?
@Cdomains As stated previously, please follow the reported domain process shared previously. If your entry was withdrawn by you, you can restore it by going to the contest page, and then you should be able to click on Report Domain Register.

If this is not working, please click the Blue Button so our customer service team can look into it. If you suspect anything serious such as multiple domains pointing to the same website, please report it via blue button.so our team has an opportunity to investigate.

I have sold a couple of premium names through contests, I was awarded the prize and then the remainder of the commission was paid out through the marketplace.

Yep, that's what they do. Another example:
There were 4 logos with the same bow tie + arrows symbol, but one is removed from the marketplace now.

It's free. Besides, neither domain is worth a custom logo.

Ha? Nothing is free, they take up to 35% of your earnings.

Not worth custom logos, then don't accept them as premium listings on your marketplace.

Having identical logos is not a good thing.

I feel logo similarities this strong between names with the same keywords (like chocolate and lux) aren't acceptable. Yes, the logos are complimentary, but there is a good chance both names will show up on the same search results, and that is a problem. I would request a review and logo revision.

Already reviewed. I did not submit a request.

I have one logo I really don’t like on a “premium” name. Some of the logos are really bad.

Well SH disagrees with you as chocolatesy is listed as a premium name.

Anyone else noticing very poor Customer service all of a sudden?

The chat function used to be excellent, but now it can take hours for a response and sometimes messages are looked at without any reply at all!

Thank you for bringing this up. I noticed that too. For me it's not hours, but days of being ignored. I have reported a problem via chat on Monday. It's Wednesday today and still no response.

I tried using the chat from a different browser where I'm not logged in to Squadhelp so on their end it probably seemed that I'm a potential customer, not a creative, and guess what - support replied within seconds.

This is sad. I hope this is just temporary. And I would appreciate it if they informed us about what's happening.

P.S. I just got a response. Finally :)

That is what I presumed was happening too.

@GrantP we realize SH is swamped at the moment, but this can't be the solution can it?

One of the real shining points in favor of SH compared to other marketplaces was the support. Why has the decision been made to sacrifice support quality to domain owners?

I just received a response to my query too. I wouldn't mind longer wait times as long as someone actually replied in the first place with a "received and working on it".

I noticed a new set of customer service representatives are now on board. That could be a reason for the sudden delay in response. I believe it will eventually be a plus to the initial swift customer service experience.

Thanks for tagging me and for your feedback. The recent delays in response times are unacceptable to us. I just posted this on our discussion Forum - which explains some of the reasons for the recent delays and what we are doing to address it:

Anyone else noticing very poor Customer service all of a sudden

It has been that way for as long as I have been on the platform - about 3 months or so.

Been waiting over a month for them to take care of a problem with a domain.

Every time I contact them and someone finally responds they tell me they are going to give it

to "the team" and it will be resolved soon.

Never, ever happens.

Worst company ever!!!!!

Squadhelp grew too big too fast. Seller listings no longer getting the exposure they used to in the marketplace which has drastically reduced the sell thru rates. Even though SH claims their sell thru rate is around 20%, I feel it’s more like 1-3%.. if it were 20% then with my portfolio size I’d be selling 2-3 names per month... been with SH for 6 months, 2 sales and none for the past 3 months. I think they should take a second look at their stats.

@JudgeMind Thanks for the feedback. I would like to address how the sell through is calculated;

We calculate two types of Sell Through Rates:
  • 12 Month Sell Through - This is the percentage of names that sold after being listed in our Marketplace for 12 months or longer
  • 6 Month Sell Through - This is the percentage of names that sold after being listed for 6 months or longer
Our average sell through for listings that have been live for 12 months or longer is currently about 20%. Similarly, the average sell through for listings that have been live for 6 months or longer is currently about 9%. The sell through rates are updated daily for each seller as well as for the entire platform.

As the Marketplace grows, we do expect this sell through rate to come down - however we plan to continue to ramp up our paid marketing investment to drive larger number of buyers on a month on month basis.

Brandable sales can take time, and in many cases, it would require waiting for 6-12 months before starting to see sales. However, your feedback is well noted, and my main point of this post was to clarify how we calculate the sell through metrics in case there was a misunderstanding.

@GrantP Please I need clarification

When submitting an unregistered name, what does "this name has been submitted to the marketplace before" mean?

Does it mean that

a. The name has been submitted before & rejected by SH

b. The name was preapproved but rejected by the creative

If A is the answer, it would have been better it was clearly stated that it had been previously rejected.

If B is the answer, then it's not fair. So many scenarios can play out, a creative can mistakenly click on reject, a creative can reject a listing & allow the name to expire, then another creative tries to submit the name or the creative sells the name to another creative.

In all of these scenario, how can the situation be resolved?

The way to get an answer on that is to message them the name and ask for more clarity. I think it means it was already rejected but they would know what it means better than us.

That too big too fast looks like the massive amount of basic/basic plus listings that hit the site and appear to be in a much larger proportion compared to Premium. Some of the names are really bad and don’t belong there.

I can see that being a problem eventually with people weeding through some bad names to get to better ones. It’s a free for all right now. I think it would have been wiser to limit how many you can have on Basic per account. People would have to be more choosey if not able to upload everything and the kitchen sink.
