Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here

I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

@Joe Styler

Suggestion for Afternic:

If some domain has a fixed BIN (with a pricing setup BuyNow = Floor = Reserve = Min. Offer), then the system should _NOT_ offer an opportunity to submit an offer on it at all. It serves no purpose.
But, exactly this currently happens on www .afternic .com / domain / domainname .com with BIN domains.

Issue I have experienced:

Somebody made an "offer" on such a BIN domain I listed for sale. He or she "offered" BIN price exactly.
Why and what for? I do not know. OK, I accepted their offer. The buyer never finished the purchase, and I still see their offer in Offers Received / Accepted section each time I log into Afternic... right on the first page.

So, I asked service @ afternic to cancel these "negotitations". First e-mail was sent on 28 Dec 2018.
They never responded. Second e-mail was sent on 25 Mar 2019. I am still patiently waiting for a response...

I'm now performing routine periodic price increase, but, with these "negotiations" being still open, I will still be formally obliged to sell this domain @ old price to this lead ... forever it seems.

Why both emails were ignored?

As per afternic terms:

"Either party to a transaction may cancel the transaction if the other party of a transaction delays the transaction more than ten (10) business days provided that the canceling party gives five (5) business days notice and the cancellation does not become effective if the cause of the delay is resolved within five (5) business days. This cancellation notice cannot be given unless there is a ten (10) day delay by the other party."

Shortly: the buyer delayed the transaction more than ten (10) business days. In accordance with official terms, the seller now wishes to cancel the transaction. Afternic service@ does not help (2 emails - no responses).

P.S. Joe, maybe you can cancel it from your end? I can send you PM with the domain in question
I can look into that for you. Also if you can give me some more info in the PM about the emails you sent, date, time, where it came from, I can take a look at the emails and make sure we got them as well to make sure that they actually got to us and not filtered out.

It is normal enough to be 7-10 days for a payment. If the buyers have control of the domain then normally the payment is sent. It may take 2-3 days for the money to hit your account after we pay. If you tell me the domain I can have someone take a look at it.

Thanks, emailed AN support & they said:

Funds are released after our 7 day verification period to ensure a secure transaction. As of today I can see funds were released to your default payee earlier. Please allow a few days for processing and let us know if you have any other questions.

(no payment yet though, will wait another day or so and should clear hopefully) :xf.smile:

It is hard to say without knowing the domain what is happening.

Thanks for reply.
The question is actually.
If buyer gets the domain in 2 years, we will get paid in 2 years?

Sold mantishemp via afternic 350
Had to update payment info at afternic for second time in last month @Joe Styler
NetSol rep when i called for auth code, said afternic should have been able to pull code as was fast transfer. Is that true
@Joe Styler ?

Pretty sure this was a search result buy at daddy. Everything has bin in my portfolio at afternic. Reasonable bins.

It is not always true that we can get the domain name as a fast transfer for many reasons. I would bet if we could we would.

Been struggling with this on and off for two years - that setting the domain BIN at Afternic sometimes kicks in automatically the opt-in to the premium / fast transfer status listing where the domain is registered (in my case, at DynaDot) and in other cases requires my having to message Afternic support to get them to move it to premium / fast transfer status manually.

After some back and forth with my account manager at Afternic a suggestion was made to reupload all my domains assigning them the status of “3” (which apparently was not assigned previously):

<<Thank you for contacting Afternic support. Your issue is that all of your domain are listed on the standard network directly and anytime you decide add a buynow price to one of your domains it doesn't automatically move it to the Fast-Transfer network, that is why you have to reach out to us. You may wish to have your portfolio exported and reuploaded after changing the listing status for all domains to a 3 to address this issue.>>

Apparently, the listing status 3 is the appropriate status to put on an upload sheet if you’re doing a bulk addition or price update via excel sheet.

I’m still not 100% clear on what this status 3 meant or why or how my domains weren’t in that status before, but my Afternic account rep was kind enough to handle the update to status 3 at his end and suddenly five domains of mine with the BIN set some time ago quickly updated to prompt me at DynaDot to opt-in to the Afternic premium network.

So anyway if you’re still encountering this issue of opt-in for premium listing / fast transfer not kicking in automatically for your BIN priced Afternic domains, perhaps this “status 3” is what is missing.

Issue remains - two domains I set BIN for recently after receiving a Price Request for them,
are not being move to fast transfer / premium automatically.

Actually - three domains, but for the third one it sold almost immediately after I set the BIN.

Is it just me, or the url www .afternic.com / domain / any_domain_here.com is no more working?
All I see is an empty page. For all domains. Including listed on the homepage of afternic.com - new listings, etc.

Cc @Joe Styler

Many members are using forwarding to above URLs. And afternic itself has this linking on afternic.com. In domainsearch results, for example.
Should be fixed ASAP....

@Joe Styler , please check your PM. It is urgent. I am tired of battling transfer process at Godaddy, Really tired.
We are supposed to transfer a domain name from Enom to Godaddy. Buyer initiated the transfer with the authcode I gave and I was notified by Enom to approve the transfer. I did. All these was on Sunday.

Yesterday, buyer sent me a message saying that Godaddy system says the sending registrar rejected the transfer. He attached a screenshot to proof it is what godaddy sent him.

I was really surprised about this because Enom has not notified me of any rejection. I had to check whois and I can see that the Whois was updated on Sunday. Same Sunday that we initiated the transfer.

It therefore means that that fault is from Godaddy system. Please do something about this. Thanks.

Not sure why, but it works for me now after I clear the cache. Have you try in Chrome Incognito?
yes, as I said, in private browsing. That is called Icognito in Chrome. I imagine some issue with servers in Europe. Can someone from Afternic reply please?

It is working or me when I try in safari. You can email [email protected] with your information on the browser, the version, the cookie settings, etc and they can help troubleshoot it. Also if you can do a video of it happening that really helps a lot because they can see the exact steps you are taking to try and duplicate it themselves. That is not required, but if it's easy I know it helps.

Hi Joe,
Looks like someone has fixed it at Afternic. The HTML source (mostly javascript) is different inside the page now it is working too.

Is there a public URL listing outages?
Cheers

Yes, it is working again. An issue was easily reproducible yesterday though (periodically at least).

For like a week or so, none of the .co domains listed at Afternic is being shown as for sale at GoDaddy or any of the partner network.
