Anyone remember the terms on listing your name with Namescon and their Auction in Las Vegas. Are you contractually obligated to them for one year? Or more.. I'm thinking of listing my name on another platform that was accepted to Namescon Auction.

No. I asked the same question because I did not want to have my domains tied up for a complete year if they didn't sell. The 1 year tie up is for non circumvent. That means a buyer who they reached out to or you as the seller cannot consummate a deal without paying them their commission.

I've already moved the domains of mine which did not sell.

So we can change our nameservers and pitch to others to sell...

I did real facepalm thing...not knowing this ;)

There is positively not a hold for a full year on the domains entered in the NamesCon auction.

Like i said before, what i wrote was straight from an email from Monte Cahn who runs the entire NanesCon auction.

Look at Brent Oxley's portfolio which is now listed on his personal efty site - Oxley.com. Many of his domains were the highlight of the auction, now they are directed to his own efty page and not directed to the ParkingCrew NS which we all had during auction.

Hi

Just received an email from Monte Cahn as a reply to my questions...

In that he said
"Exclusivity starts at the time of submission and continues 60 days after the extended auction is over"

If it is mentioned as "after"
that means longer than 60 days...am I understanding correctly?!

Any thoughts @Vito
Did you submitted any names for Europe NamesCon?

Thanks

I just wanted to jump in here and help LarryDomain out as he kept stating for some reason he believed he had to tie up his domain for an entire year. I didn't want him or others thinking that either or nobody would ever add any names to NamesCon auction.

Well that is all you need. Coming straight from Monte as he is the one who writes the rules since it is his auction event. Yes, based on reading that line he wrote to you, you are understanding that correctly. That is what I read too.

Any thoughts @Vito

Yes, many.

1) I think it is a great auction and Monte/ROTD/NameJet do a great job.

2) I think it would be so hard for him and NameJet to promote each and every domain in auction the way it should be since there is so much work for them to do in preperation and afterwards closing sales, collecting money, communicating push/trransfer procedures, etc. I feel like to get the best opportunity for your domain, you really need to market it yourself as best as you can, plus direct all leads to him.

3) 25% is a big commission but then again, these are the big boy domains and can fetch great prices with many deep wallets looking to buy, so it can be very well worth it. Only takes 2 to want it.

4) I do wish the estibot appraisal prices were not right next to each domain though. That does not help in any way at all. I did a spreadsheet on the entire auction w/prices, reserves, and appraisals HERE and it looked ridiculous as the majority of reserves were at much higher prices than the extremely unreliable, way too low appraisal prices.

5) It is only 4 months. Its really not that long for them to hold onto your domain NS. We submit our domain in mid Dec. Live auction is mid Jan. Non-sold domains go to online extended auction in mid Feb. Now 60 days starts and that gets us to mid April which gives them time to work out any leads that came in and close any other potential sales. So that is only 4 months. That is not bad at all.

6) If you have not been to the live NamesCon/ROTD auction and you enjoy domaining, you have to go to one! They are some of the funnest times I've had as a domainer.

I have not submitted any domain names to the Europe NamesCon auction. I know nothing about the Europe NamesCon's as of yet except that it is in Portugal and wish I could go but cannot this year. Only been to the Vegas NamesCon's a couple times so far. I know I did receive an email from them a couple weeks ago about submissions. I have been very busy and I've had a couple decent sales lately so I'm not as excited to get any more domains into auction right now.

I am looking forward to seeing the domains entered into that Europe NamesCon auction though.

Wow...

That is very good analysis...

Thanks for your insights @Vito

Pre-bidding started May 13. Tried to Google the list but can't seem to find it. If they started pre-bidding already in May 13 why can't I find the list on Namejet yet? Where's the list? Would be nice to check it out.
