That Top 10 is crazy, and I wonder what kind of a premium some of them went for, and possible (??) some will go to auction?

Several of these domains were for old defunct pages that I assume were purchased for links, jetblue.ca is probably an attempt to sell the Californian airline on a .CA, the others are obvious keywords, but...

royallapage.ca? Really?

You forgot Chromis.ca: It's a brandable, but also an aquarium fish.
I had to check I thought I let that drop but I have Chromers

Typo for Royal LePage...a well known real estate company (in my neck of the woods anyway)

I know who Royal LePage is, but why in the world would you pay that much for a typo? I see premium typos drop all the time, as people use bookmarks or Google in 2019, and rarely type-in anymore, unless they're looking for an open domain. Plus, parking ad rates suck hard.

I'm thinking the new owner might have mixed up the "A" and "E" in that one, as it's happened a few times before. Some people have even bought expensive .COMs before they realized it was misspelled.

Yep, and that's for a UPS Store postal box, but I remember another Registrar using the exact same location for their corporate mail, but I can't remember which one.

Very secretive.... There should be a way to track numbered companies

Let the fun begin :xf.smile:

It would just tell you the same stuff we already know.

I have some resources in this area, and I had the first name of the director (again very familiar), but otherwise it's the same junk UPS Store address.

I can't find the name right now, but it was East Indian, first name started with an F, like Fahrir or Fahmir.

Maybe typo traffic..a defensive move.

Very surprising TBR. Wouldn't have picked any of the top 7, but I got the ones I wanted - cheap.

Really? Aren't they one of the largest real estate companies in Canada? I know they used to be when I was younger, and I'd see their signs everywhere.

Edit: Yep, still pretty big: Royal LePage is a Canadian real estate franchiser and owner-operator with more than 600 locations and over 17,000 Realtors in Canada.

And as for typo traffic, that's a 90's phenomenon, like when morons came into PC stores asking to "install the entire Internet on my computer".

These days, it's all Google and bookmarks, especially with the mass-hacking/malware going on now if you step outside the "safe zone".

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Results & Leftovers for May 8 are now online, but be prepared, as there are a ton of leftovers.

This week's .CA TBR list contained well over 10,000 names (the seventh straight week of more than 9K), but the quality was extremely low, possibly due to a registrar fire sale on .CA domains last year. The top selections mirror this, and these are a confusing lot that include...

just for fun of it following these regs.. I checked namebio for adult sales in .ca

was suprised to see a few for tens of thousands... sextoys... fuckbook ... lesbian... and couple more.. those were like 20-30k sales each.. then probably many lower ones.. I didn't go that far.

still probably adult .ca names are hard sales.. as are adult names in basically all extensions.

It looks like the "junk LLL flush of 2019" continues, as we get 72 LLL drops this week, and barely a day into the new list and we already have 11 junkers.

Methinks people are getting tired of renewing and renewing, without any buyer interest.

Weird weekend for me, as I got 3 CIRA inquiries on .CA domains, and all were from names I had picked up the last two TBR runs.

None of them were from existing websites (I checked) that mistakenly dropped, and the only other time this happened it turned into sale to a startup that had missed getting it.

How much did you quote?

Haven't replied to any of them yet, just hanging and deciding what angle to take.

After all, I can't even sell any of them for 50-60 days.
