It's been over 18 months since the last big poll here. So let's take a new poll on best registrar. GoDaddy won the last two, the last one was closer with @namesilo coming in second, 253 votes vs 191 or 29.8% vs 22.5%. The previous big poll saw GoDaddy run away with it 303 votes or 52%.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Their designs are not so important, you may do almost all operations via API... just in Linux terminal...
Dynadot/NameSilo have API, GoDaddy/UniRegistry - NO.

What NetSol email do you need to approve the transfer away. I don't see any email which permits the approval of the domain away. A while ago, if you clicked on the "If you don't want to transfer email", it immediately stopped the transfer, and you had to restart it. Does that now have an option to now approve the transfer. (I'm reluctant to simply try it without confirmation because of my bad experiences).
Yes you may select "I approve" on the screen, and the transferaway will be finished in ~3 days then...

Indeed, if used correctly and as a part of well-maintained project. Uniregistry, for example (last time I checked), didn't even bother to rename or to optimize various background images they were playing on the first page (Anchors, Mountains, etc) - all were exactly originals they purchased from image banks.

I consider that a compliment to Uniregistry, if that is the only fault you can find with their control panel. Images are important. But I don't think that not renaming them is a significant importance. Although it might reflect on their state of mind :) It's the functionality of the website itself that matters most. Something which can be missing, or difficult to achieve, with "more traditional" websites. Although I would say, it is more pleasant when using the websites with nice graphics (not over-used of course), provided the functionality is there.

Great. I'll try that with my next transfer away, next week.

Just to clarify. GoDaddy have an API for their Auctions. But not for their Registrar?

I reported to Uni a number of programming bugs, specifically related to not-so-frequently used functions like registering nameservers under the domain, for example. Billing bugs. And some others. Nothing was fixed :(

Android is Linux based...
So API should work even on your smartphone, browser and all those designs are not necessary at all.

Regarding GoDaddy...
As I know, API management is available only via their reseller platform WildWestDomains.

I, of course, probably have not encountered these rare bugs. But it's definitely not good that they haven't addressed them. What kind of timeframe are you talking about?

Only in aspect that the Uniregistry images were also not optimized. Which means that their webmasters are lazy. Unfortunately. As they do not think about users who may use limited mobile connections.

Got it. Unresponsive support with deaf ears, is definitely a no-no, in my book. Makes me happy that I am fading them out, as being too expensive.

I gave up a year ago. So the only thing I'm using Uni now for is transfer away. It works. One time, it worked but the domain also remained at my account as a ghost (illustration of another bug: never finished "tasks").

What reasons to use Uniregistry overall???
I don't see any benefits...
Legacy gTLDs are cheaper with Epik (pricelist for domainers) and free escrow (for NamePros members)... and API...

Non-U.S. location. Bulk pricing (if granted). Uniregistry Market (yes, it works, a normal marketplace, but I would not recommend to communicate with buyers using their built-in negotitation tools, as the resulting emails will be often marked as spam...). Personal Account Managers (may or may not be the case in 2019).

Bulk pricing for yearly fee???
Thanks, I don't need such "discounts" from them.

UniMarket is good only for BIN domains...
This is also not interesting for me... I prefer MakeOffer mode without parasitic intermediaries (directly - in other words).

Which is one of the reasons why many patient customers, myself including, started to leave them. I beleive they may still offer $8.xx for .coms (and comparable for other tlds) with 0 yearly fees if politely asked. I think Thunayan K AL-Ghanim (aka "Elequa" / FMA ) unlikely pays yearly fees though... it is all about portfolio size actually

.com Renewal is $8.49 at Epik for domainers...
There is also 5 GBP transfer to LCN.

As for Uniregistry bugs, I have also reported the following. About two or three years ago.
Just read their whois output warning... slowly:

"Uniregistrar reserves the right to restrict your access to the Whois database in its sole
discretion to ensure operational stability and police abuse."

Police abuse?

In the past (prior those yearly fees) I have asked Uni many times regarding individual prices for .PRO, .me etc.
They didn't anything for me... and regardless of portfolio size - as I see.

Probably, it can be lowered only by asking Schilling personally... no other way.

"Who is the best registrar in the business? 2019 Edition"

Of the 2 most voted for so far for 2019, I haven't used DynaDot and have dealt with NameSilo only in a very small way, so can't give an informed opinion on them. Of the ones I have used enough to compare, Epik gets my 2019 vote.

Yeah. I've got one of those. After not getting anything definitive about them removing it. I gave up fairly early on. It will be the only domain in my account within the next year :(
