April Contest Titled "THUNDERDOME - April 2019 Hand Reg Contest - DOT COM only" will end soon.
But the same contest on May 2019 (May Contest) is still uncertainty. Cause 'the founder' of this contest, @BrandCougar who has succeed to make the contest on March and April, will not run the 'May Contest' for some reasons.

Calling for all March and April 2019 Participants, Please leave your advice/s here...

Thank You

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Instead of naming or tagging anyone here to take charge and run the contest, let someone from NamePros voluntarily come forward to take charge.
Thank you.

Would you please leave your words here, @BrandCougar.
If not to recommend someone who will run May contest, You may give advice/s on how the contests that you have succeed to run for 2 months will be continued. You are the founder of this contest, of course. You are an expert. So, please share whatever you want to share.
Thank you...

My thoughts...

1) Feel free to try a new model or pick from any one of the (3) previously used during Feb/March/April.
2) Set clear rules - they will come in handy when someone's entry does not qualify.
3) Promptly send a polite DM's to individuals who submitted domains that do not qualify. If you don't, they will (inadvertently) continue to submit wrongly not realizing they are on the wrong path. A simple DM clears things up.
4) Expect to have a few complainers. It is, what it is. Handle these matters via a DM (off thread) otherwise it will turn your contest into a shi* show and conversation (on thread) will derail matters.
5) Use images. It adds color and character to the contest.

Best of luck.

Let's let the air clear for a month or so, see if anyone's willing to step up to the plate. Takes a massive commitment, don't forget, and summer months tend to be busier for most folk.

As mentioned previously, I like the idea of taking a month or two off from having a contest both to give some breathing room and also to establish any changes in procedure. I don't think we need one every month, and as @HotKey says especially in summer may be more difficult.

I know there are strengths in one person in charge but wonder if there were two organizers each month might make it less burdensome.

The rounds were very democratic but surprised not more voted. Not sure how this can be improved.

I personally found it difficult to compare made up brandable names against two word ones. But making a month focus on just one has its own problems.

It would be ultra cool to have a contest that ended just before the next NamesCon and have the winner announced live in a session that also showed runners up. A display showing the winners from past year also would be interesting.

I like the idea of a schedule perhaps as long as a year in advance with different organizers each month. I don't think we should aim for a contest each month though, maybe 6 to 8 per year.

@BrandCougar set a level that I suspect would be hard to repeat. So much energy and creativity. I think we all learned from him a number of things we can apply to our own domaining.

I caught that too, Bob. It was interesting seeing them pitted against each other during the picks, they are in such contrast. And normally I am not a fan of brandables, but I think this contest really sparked some intriguing ones, now I have a better appreciation of brandables actually. A couple I would even consider going after in NP auctions or elsewhere.

The monetary incentive, I don't recall who contributed it, is such an icing too the person(s) must not be forgotten. But overall quite impressed with everyone's submissions, most showed real thought not just blind ambition.

How about category rounds to pick between :) using the same style except each submission is put into a category and we vote on best in each category.

I think whenever a new contest happens there should be less entries per person. There was crazy high amounts of entries this last month which makes it harder to choose and harder on judges and person running the contest.

I have an idea:
Let us continue the contest. Dont ever stop..
Run the May Contest by using @BrandCougar 's rules. So someone among us (Feb March & April participants) has to take over Cougar's roles, then @BrandCougar (or Shingle) to be an advisor.
While May contest run as before, we prepare for better Next Month Contests...
Thank you.

@BabayS -

You are persistently plugging "presumed volunteerism".

Please stop.

Shouting out a NP member... then trying to needle them into participation... is a bad approach.

Yes, I understand you want someone to run a May contest so you can enter your newly found domain(s), but REALLY... stop tossing out NP member names hoping someone will give in and take the reigns.

The best solution is someone stepping forward. Someone being persistently tagged and hounded is not "stepping forward".

I made an honest effort for March & April's contest (while in between projects), but as I mentioned earlier I have a new project I am working on and will have ZERO (0 %) available time to mentor, coach, cheer, manage, educate, train, hand hold, root, tutor, or skipper a May contest.

Please stop tagging me hoping I'll step in.
