SquadHelp - Marketplace

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
They have worked on this now. For Any unregistered name they approve, it becomes live & registered the moment you accept terms & publish.

The thing is they are rejecting every single submission on their site without proper knowledge and backgrounds ....

No they do not. I get new names approved every week. Sometimes even daily.

They show more statistics than any other marketplace I used before. Use it! They even show actual names that recently sold. I have been manually tracking sold names since they started sharing this data and now I have a quite large database of sold names, best selling keywords, best selling patterns, best selling niches etc. This + keeping a close track on the stats of my names and sales helps me the most to come up with names that get approved.

Do your homework, use your analytical and strategical thinking, don't just blindly submit everything and anything that comes to your mind hoping it would somehow get approved and when it doesn't, come here to complain that "nothing gets approved".

What if i say i am submitting Brandroot namerific and BB domains each day ? if they are rejecting a domain accepted by all other brandable marketplaces what you get a result here ? BTW i have 53 names on SH and i know what they want but these days they are rejecting names blindly ...

@Domain_savvy -

Short answer - Yes.

Also to consider...

But there is no favoritism applied and you'll get SH's typical 8-10% accepted rate with submissions. Being BB or BPA published adds no pixie dust to them during the SH review. I get the same acceptance rate for names submitted whether BB published, BPA published, hand regd, or otherwise. Don't assume because BB or BPA liked a certain name that SH will get horny over it. Curation is a subjective process - and at times a head scratcher for any "brandables" platform.

Also keep in mind that both BB and Brandpa have a "30 day removal window" in their TOS, so before changing NameServers to NS1.SquadHelp.com, etc, you will need to request a removal from the other platform first, then enjoy a 30 day thumb twiddling.

Personally, I think the "30 day removal period" requirement is a bit nuts, but to avoid jeopardizing your BB or BPA account - it is what it is. (same issue with BR)

I have one domain that is rejected by BB and BP but accepted by SH, and accepted at biggest price of all my SH domains. Also I think that most of my SH listed domains would be rejected at BB and BP. So they all have their own requirements that are slightly different for all of them, just need to be figured out. And it takes practice in order to increase acceptance rate.

I've noticed that suggested price really does make a difference, and SH just isn't going to list domains for the same prices we're used to at BB and BP. I was getting a lot of rejections until I lowered price expectations to $2-3k and then my acceptance rate quickly picked up.

Also, be sure to take advantage of the "request review" feature if you have a domain rejected that you think should have been accepted. I don't use it that often but have a 100% success rate when requesting review...

The same is with commission rates. Always choosing the highest commission rate results in most entries being rejected.

I have been a domainer for many years and I know domains and

the likelihood a domain will be registered.

Is Squad/Help poaching domain names that creatives come up with?

I don't what to believe it and it makes me sick to think this is the case.

If not then it is contest holders who are also creatives who are doing it.

This is the second time in 2 weeks that names I have come up with

have been regged right after a contest ended and the name was

not selected as a winner.

In both cases these are names not easily thought of.

I enter contests at Squad/Help.

I have only been there for a short time and I am already a Tier A Creative.

Having been a domainer for a long time I have the knack for coming up

with good names for contests.

I entered an unusual name for a contest a week or two ago.

The kind of name that would not be easily thought of.

I know names get regged every day, but this name is not one

someone would just come up with easily, and I know domaining.

The contest ended.

I thought it was a good name so I just tried to enter it in a new contest.

It was not available because it was registered.

I checked the Whois and it was regged 3 days ago - right after the old contest

ended.

The name servers are pointed to Squad/Help, and it is listed for sale at

Squad/Help right now!!!

Are contest holders also acting as creatives and poaching names?

Are Squad/Help employees or their friends regging good names

that creatives come up with.

How is it possible that right after a contest ends names magically appear for

sale on Squad/Help.

This is B*llSh*t.

I wonder if I go back and check all my contest entries how many will be regged and for

sale on Squad/Help.

I am so disturbed by this it makes it hard to continue submitting names to contests.

I don't know what to do.

Sorry about your plight!

There have been scenarios where Contest Holders register names submitted by creatives and whenever you find out such, there is a way to report such name under "My Entries".

However, I want to believe that is not the case here since you said it has been listed for sale on SH.

A possible scenario is this: Since there are thousands of creatives on SH, the possibilities of creatives having the same name idea is high.

For example, times without number, when I submit a name, I get this message; Fun Fact: This name has been submitted to 50 previous contests by 20 other creative(s).

PS:
I have experienced same thing as you not once or twice.

I would implore you to first report the domain, use the blue button and also, if you wish, post on the SH Forum.

I wish you success in your endeavours.

Thanks, I am aware of this and have seen it many times.

I just checked several domain ideas I entered into the contest I mentioned

in my post and two are also registered.

These are all from the same contest.

When you put them in a browser and hit enter they both go to the same website.

Tell me how it is possible for two completely different and odd domains to be

registered and point to the same site a week after they were entered in a

contest at SH?

These are Chinese websites.

Is SH being hack/ed?

Or was the contest holder the one who regged the names.

Odd though because if I remember correctly they were listed as being from the US.

I would really like to know how this is happening and I think SH should explain

how it is possible.

It is too much of a coincidence to not be suspicious!!!

I have a long list of names that got registered which had zero history and I came up with and were also not selected as winners. This has been happening a lot. What is worse is that they have this bad policy which says if the entry is 30 days old then it will not be investigated. I have names which have been exactly developed for the purpose they were intended for , yet SH did not check and said whois does not match or it is 30 days old or the CH said they did not register.

This contest ended less than 30 days ago.

I just checked some more of the names from this contest and all the good ones are regged!!

I will tell you what is worse.

If you reg a good name that you enter into a contest and they pick that name I believe you have to transfer the name to the contest winner and all you get is the prize for the contest.

I think this is the case if I remember reading the rules correctly.

I have been adding less names that are unreged to contests because of this issue. Just today and before two days too, CH told me he likes my names but cant afford and choose them since they are premium and even one of them tried to create one based on the name I submitted and asked me what do you think of this , lol

That is BS!!

I started using SH because others domainers here said they were selling some

domains there.

It seems things have gotten worse for domainers in the last month and I don't see as

many domain sales being reported here as there were before.

Should we continue using SH?

I don't know.

I don't know what to do.

You have two choices register the name first and point to SquadHelp or don’t enter contests. They want you to work for peanuts coming up with good names and selling for very little. ( see below from a sales page)Also does it really surprise you when potential money is involved in that names you chose not to register are taken by someone else?

This is on a sale page —did you guys know SquadHelp says they own your names and underprices names intentionally?
————————————————————————————-
Transparent Pricing

Most domains are directly owned by Squadhelp and are typically priced at 40% below other marketplaces.

I don't know.
I know I submit less unregistered names. I signed up at the end of Jan and have since won two contests and two awarded by SH(split awards) but the number of names I lost is huge and most are developed or registered.

I would like to address some of the recent comments here:

1) Squadhelp DOES NOT register any domains without creative's consent - the only domains we register are the ones explicitly approved by creatives for listing in SH marketplace as a premium domain. Registering domains without creative's consent would not only be unethical - we would be violating our own Terms of Service if we were to engage in such an activity. In fact all staff members of SH are also prohibited from buying and selling domains.

2) There is a process in place for reporting domain registrations. We follow this process consistently for all contests when a domain is reported as registered. If you haven't reported the recent issues you mentioned, (I could not see any recent reports), please do so as soon as possible so our team has an opportunity to investigate.

3) There are multiple ways to participate in our platform. Over 80% of creatives on our platform are not domainers and they prefer to participate by submitting unregistered domains to contests and marketplace. However, there are risks with submitting unregistered domains (since they can be registered by anyone) and you should only do that if you believe the benefits outweigh the risks.

SH registered domains offer significantly lower commission to creatives vs the seller registered option. Therefore, if you have Domaining and Investment experience, it is probably in your best interest to submit registered domains. This will not only give you significantly larger payouts, but you will also have the flexibility to delist the domains by giving a 7 day notice and sell it in a different platform if you prefer.

4. Submitting registered domains to SH contests does not force you to transfer the domain by accepting the contest award. Here is how it works:

a) If the CH selects you as a winner but is not interested in buying your domain, you keep the contest award, and continue to list the domain on the Marketplace.
b) If your domain is listed as a Premium or Basic Plus listing, the CH can only acquire the domain by purchasing it at full price. In fact, in this case, we apply the contest award towards the purchase but you still receive the payout based upon full price. For example, if a CH is running a contest with $300 award, and you have a Premium or Basic Plus listing domain listed for $1999, the CH only needs to pay $1699 to acquire the domain (however your payout will be based upon the full listing price of $1999 minus the SH commission). Therefore, in some ways, you are selling the domain at a discounted price while receiving the full purchase price if it makes sense.
c) If your domain is listed as a Basic listing, you must transfer the domain to CH at no additional cost. Therefore we do not recommend submitting your "Basic" listing domain to contests unless your comfortable with receiving only the contest award. A better option would be to list it as a Basic Plus listing (or Premium) and then submit to contests.

Hope this helps!
