I am current domain holder of over 1300 domains in a certain industry. One I know like the back of my hand. I received notification that a domain I had listed on premium listing was transferred out of my account. I then contacted GoDaddy to see if it had sold. I was told yes it had sold. The domain was listed at $99,999.00 the maximum I could list on GoDaddy. I received a receipt from GoDaddy saying "Congratulations on selling your premium domain at listed price $99,999.00". This is life changing for me, who invests everything back into programs for people and the less fortunate. Thinking I finally caught a break.

Since then I have received no response from GoDaddy support team regarding the sale of my domain. The most unfortunate part is typically when I receive these emails I am always paid the amount minus commissions. I began immediately paying off some large debts I have incurred being in the industry I am in. I am now concerned of financial discourse to my family because GoDaddy doesn't want to cough up my money.

What do I do? I've called, emailed, and contacted to no avail.

Please Help @Joe Styler

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Team will arrive in the office soon and will discuss with them. I strongly caution against spending any money from a sale before it is actually in your account, this is a large sale and will go through more scrutiny than smaller sales do, so the payout timeline will be longer. I sincerely hope this sale processes smoothly and both buyer and seller are happy with the result, but it is not a done deal yet.
Thanks I appreciate you looking into this.

A $100k sale to me is a lot but to a billionaire it’s peanuts. Just as a $999 sale to me is peanuts, it’s a ton to others. Point is, all sales should be handled in the same manner.

I disagree, with increased value comes increased risk and increased scrutiny. I'll be handling this directly from here on with the seller.

It’s a question of relativity. The sales process should be universal, despite the actual price.

At any rate, thank you for personally looking into it!

Interesting point because once a buyer clicks to buy the domain has to be classed as sold so no one else can buy it. But paying by wire could take three days to arrive, and above a certain level probably more stringent Know Your Customer conditions kick in. Tipalti.com say on their website that they process payments for Godaddy, so they may be processing it in a particular way.

I have never bought a domain for 99k so I do not know what payment terms and deadlines are offered to a customer when doing that on GD. Do you have to pay at once for the domain to even be sold? On Sedo for example you have about five days to pay the invoice, and during that time Sedo will not be listing the domain for sale.

Its been since the 30th, not exactly 7 days, but surely after asking for information, the 72 hrs they promise has been passed.

Nice sale. Hope you get some answers.

Unfortunately as much as it hurts me to discuss the outcome, it was a malfunction on GDaddys software, and was sold at an undisclosed previously listed price , not $99,999.00 :(. I have decided to let it go at it's previously listed price, however in future, these guys should be more responsive, and not send sales emails that are incorrect... wo is me, and now begins the reversal of excitement and backtracking all that I have told including my kids, god their faces when I told them.

I can perfectly understand but, I think most of us are willing to keep any skepticism under wraps while the appropriate sales team are apparently investigating.

I always wonder if these reseller sites, confirm a 'buy-now' before any money is even received, having never had the problem myself

Sry to hear this, was hoping for a better out come...was the previously listed price still 5 figuer xx,xxx low price? There's more to this than what we are reading right now. How can GD send you a "IMPROPER " invoice with such an absurd miss leading price...if it was not so?

Did you have it listed at Afternic as well? and try to change price from GD listing ? I often wondered if this can happen when adjusting prices and awaiting them to change..

which BTW is why I no longer set prices on GD...I just set what I want on Afternic and it will show on GD search bar...I have stopped listing on GD auctions( aside from old listing yet to be removed ). This has made things simpler for me knowing my price is the same on both platforms .

That's a BIG WTF GODADDY??:xf.eek:>:(:banghead:

You have every right to feel upset......I'd never want to receive such a BS email! You should at LEAST Receive a 1% comp from GD for being misleading, specialty after you spent funds as you said IMO.

Hmm, Domain taken within the 24-48 hours of updating your price.(though not propagated) Makes you wonder doesn't it .

I hear you and agree, this reminds me of a time Mediatemple was doing backups for a startup I owned Screenprintingamerica.com, well they mismanaged the backups and emergency restore threw my site into a frenzy, unfixable, top 5 keywords in 15 major cities and over 1000 front page listings for product, I lost everything, all my juice to specific products and more, still have not recovered. Had to rebuild a whole new brand, but will never be the same...live and learn I suppose

I just bought two domains from godaddy yesterday

One for a 2k and the other at 20k

The 2k one hit my account within the day but the larger one will probably take a number of days. I got phone calls from godaddy verifying and asking me if I did indeed purchase it. I was told they have a whole department that scrutinizes larger sales.

So I would not worry at this point, there is a good chance things will still go as planned.
