Hello seniors!!
My question is does such domain names carry any value which are once sold for $2k to $5k and which again gets available in auction market? should one pick such name? or does the past sale or past sale price of a domain name does not matter?
Waiting for answer from seniors.
Thanks.

Many sales are one of a kind. Just because a domain sold once, doesn't mean it will sell ever again.
But at least on two occasions I have sold the same domain twice, a 'few' years apart (up to 10 years or so).

Whether a name sold in the past should certainly not be the sole criterion for buying it. One should not buy a domain without good reasons.

Yes if it was a keyword domain that still rates today. Beware of old technologies that no longer rate. Plenty of buyers pay to much for domains it really doesn't mean you need to. Just find the next deal.

If a name has sold before, then I think it has a little more value. It doesn't necessarily guarantee that it is a good name, but it is a + in favor of the quality of the domain. It's the same thing with domain age - a 20 year old name is usually better than a 1 year old hand reg.

There's a correlation... but it is not causation. Sold before does not make it worth more. Older does not make it worth more. But in general, there is a correlation in quality.

There are probably more idiots buying domains than geniuses. Which might reflect on the correlation as well. But I would still agree with this statement, as a general principal :)

Asseenontv.com sold before for $5.1million. Does that increase the value?

This. Factors to consider for past sales are date of sale, platform, whether it was a wholesale (auction) or retail sale (you can guess by the price) and where the sale is listed eg. Namebio, GD Appraisal tool, NP, etc
