Is parking Domains worth it?

let's say I've a few domains I can park with Sedo, should I do it? how's the revenue? does it lower the chances of people purchasing the domain because there's only a small line saying "Buy This Domain"?

Thanks!

Hi

you will never know what you could earn from any ppc service, until you try them.

what do you consider as 'high traffic"?

also, I think the worthiness is in the ctr and epc that the domain earns, per click
below are stats for a couple names @ PC for last 12 months, and traffic is about 1 visitor every 2-3 days.

188 42 22.34% $ 0.61 $ 136.44 $ 25.65
107 43 40.19% $ 0.49 $ 197.76 $ 21.16

I agree that high traffic is good, but some traffic is better than none
especially if it converts to clicks.

:)

imo...

I was unsure whether this was just joking. Surely you don't mean that you really have never heard of Brent Oxley? (he has a pretty nice portfolio of names - here is link to his Efty - although he is best known as past owner of HostGator). Names like drone, storm, uno, broker, bride, athlete etc. (all com) in his portfolio.

for sure, I never heard of him

I don't go around following names of people who own this or that,

and because he said, what he said....has no effect on what I decide to do

imo...

only if you have high traffic domains its worth...

With similar traffic vs the past parking revenue overall is down about 95% vs 10-15 yrs ago, IMO.

However it is still possible to make money even with low traffic but is of course rare. For example, I have a dot-org which recently had 6 visits (also average traffic the parked name gets) and received 3 clicks but managed to earn $50 revenue on that day

Domain parking is worth. Both G / B feeds pays better. But you have to make sure your domain traffic is legitimate. No bots, forum links. My parking revenue per month is low to mid xxx. Previously it was high xxx at the time of domainsponsor

Thank you for the data, and it is encouraging that it can still be worthwhile. Could you share about how many domains that low $$$ monthly is from, please.Thank you!

Oxley is a kind of name which would seem easy to recall but I also never heard of him before and I have been in domains for far more years than i care to remember, maybe as long as Biggie.

I wish Rick would have been more clear how much he was still making the past 2 years, that would have been more useful.

Anyway, I had a chance to chat with a million dollar portfolio holder a few months ago and he was nice enough to show me a screenshot of his monthly income. The drop was really significant in terms of income like everyone. The drop was the same for all parking providers.

His goal was to develop his domain names enough to beat the 2% interest rate he would have earned if he just his kept money in the bank. He really regretted some names he bought at the peak of domaining.

Guy created HostGator.com and sold it for like $225,000,000.

He owns a killer portfolio, some of the domains you can read about in this thread.

Some times unlikely domains get results with ppc. It is a whole different thing at times when you look at results ones you think will and vice versa. Short is certainly a positive for ppc. Over all you need enough to get a payout. There are other simple ways to monetise a site from adwords, amazon to turnkey, white labels blogs or just landers and affiliate links.
