Received the following message from Nixi

Dear Registrant / Customer,

This is to inform that the registrar account of your current registrar – Mitsu Inc. has been terminated by National Internet Exchange of India(NIXI) which manages the .IN Registry.

In view of the termination, your registrar will not be able to provide you any domain management services for .IN or .भारत (in all supported languages).

In order to protect your rights and commercial interests,.IN Registry hereby informs you to transfer your domain(s) to an alternate Accredited Registrar of .IN Registry of your choice. Please view the link below for the list of registrars - https://registry.in/Accredited_Registrars

You may contact your preferred new registrar on your own for transferring your domain(s) and follow the process as may be advised by the new registrar.

Meanwhile to maintain continuity, .IN Registry is taking over the control of your domain names and if you require any changes to your existing contact details or Nameserver associated with your domain name, you are requested to send an email from your registrant email id, as reflecting in whois records to [email protected].

While moving to a new registrar, you are requested to contact .IN Registry to obtain your domain authorization or “AUTH CODE” – which will be required by the new registrar to initiate transfer of your domain(s).

You are requested to complete the transfer process in the next 15 days from the date of this email. If not, .IN Registry will initiate its own process to transfer your domain to another registrar as may be determined by .IN Registry.

Sincerely yours,
National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI)

Has anyone else received this email, and knows what is the real reason for termination of Mitsu, as it is causing a lot of inconvenience

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
When I was in Mumbai on July 21, Mitsu contacted me on phone and said that the matter would be resolved soon, so you can check with them for the latest updates

Thanks, mitsu told me to contact Registry.in for an update, round and round in circles. Nixi/Registry.in treat their registrants with contempt by not answering enquiries and failing to communicate updates. Registrant domains held hostage for nearly 10 months, its a scandal.

Any new update on this case? Are affected registrants paying renewal fees to Mitsu. My domains are expiring soon and I'm hesitant to pay Mitsu the renewal fees, fully knowing that Mitsu is in no position to renew the domains.

Most domain investors with domains in Mitsu are not paying them till the matter is resolved

I sure hope Nixi/Registry.in don't expect us to pay for the renewal fees for the period they kept our domains hostage/restricted our access to services we paid for e.g. ability to manage domains we are registrant for.

They have treated registrants appallingly, the soon international media run with this story the better for all of us trapped by this situation.

Has the indian media covered this news?

I don't think the media anywhere have covered the nixi /mitsu case; it's consequences for registrants, the appalling way it's been handled by nixi. Nixi may have no control over the legal process but they are able to control keeping their registrants informed or showing advocacy on their behalf - both of which they have not done.

Why aren't media, especially those that cover the domain name industry, all over this story?

Those involved are very powerful and influential

The webhosting company I am using has changed the DNS settings, A records for a website/domain which is in the NIXI holding account, was originally with Mitsu. I cannot change the DNS settings and the the support at inregistry is also not giving a reply
I am losing advertising revenues because of this as the website does not resolve, and I have spent time and money in developing, design of the website, promoting it
Does anyone know how to change the A records for the domain name with NIXI holding account, the support at inregistry is unable to give a proper reply, after 4 days

I have signed Cyberking's petition (along with a huge 10 other people!) but I can't see it making any difference in this matter. I have more than 100 domains with Mitsu.in and I'm now regarding them as lost causes. I have no confidence that this matter will be resolved in the favour of domain owners. What I think will happen is that the domains will continue to be locked up by NIXI and Registry.in while this so-called dispute continues and these domains will progressively expire. (Many of mine have already expired and I'm not prepared to pay Mitsu's renewal fees because of the uncertainty as to who is controlling the domains and whether I will ever have "clear title" to them again.) At some point in the future, once the domains have been out of registration for a period of time, I believe Registry.in will claim the domains as dropped domains and reinstate them back into their registry for resale or as new registrations.

This episode has shown that the Indian domain name industry is a sham with both the authorities and registrars acting against domain owners. How could anyone trust any Indian registrar after this episode with Mitsu. How could anyone place faith in Registry.in after the way it has locked owners out of their domains while engaging in a dispute with a registrar. Registrants should be free to transfer their domains under these conditions but not only can't you transfer them but you can't change its DNS and you are unable to develop it with any certainty. The domains are worthless as things stand. Even if this situation was resolved tomorrow - which we all know it will not be - I would still bail out of all my Indian domain names and never look at .IN and .CO.IN ever again. This has proven to be a costly episode for me and I rue the day that I started regging Indian domains.

I wouldn't assume domains with mitsu are lost causes. You are the registrant.

My view is that Registry.in are 100% responsible for this situation. Irrespective of the matter they may legitimately have with mitsu, there is is no excuse for allowing their registrants to be subjected to such punitive conditions such as inability to transfer domains or change their dns. And there is absolutely no reason not to communicate with registrants, NONE.

Registry.in have disclosed to their registrants that they are incompetent cowboys and certainly no better than the registry they seek to discredit.

As a government entity they are a disgrace to their country.

Government employees get a good salary, pension, they are least bothered about domain investors.

The matter will be resolved next year, according to mitsu

Anyone got an update or attended a recent hearing?

Anyone know when the next hearing is?

Its now been 16 months since registrants were locked out from their domains - Nixi has done nothing to advocate for the rights of its registrants.

I take it everyone else has had the luck I had dealing with NIXI / Registry.in? Wasted time over the last 16+ months trying to contact them on and off but not even a squeek out of them?

That is one pathetic organization that should be revamped with people that care.

Even a simple form letter reply explaining what was going on would be better than nothing at all.

Nope, no luck with NIXI. It's mind-blowing that this has gone on for so long.

On 30 October it will be 2 years since this debacle began and 150 of domains registered to me were frozen by termination action taken by Nixi (Registry.in) against the registrar Mitsu.in.

Who would have thought this would still be the case two years on?

I have contacted Mitsu/Registry.in/Nixi/the Advocate and no response - no update on where things are at - I find it shocking that this can go on for so long and Registry.in have such disregard for their registrants that they cant be bothered updating them or advocating for them with the courts.

Anyone got any information?

Sorry, I know that this is an old thread, but I received an email from registry [at] nixi.in (see below). It's hard to tell if this is legit or not. If it is, any recommendations for a registrar for .in domains?

Dear Registrant / Customer,
As per recent Award from Arbitrator, .IN Registry hereby informs you to transfer your domain(s) originally taken from M/s. MITSU Inc. to an alternate Accredited Registrar of .IN Registry of your choice. Please view the link below for the list of registrars -
[link removed--the registry.in list of accredited registrars]
You may contact your preferred new registrar on your own for transferring your domain(s) and follow the process as may be advised by the new registrar.
Meanwhile, .IN Registry has been holding your domain names.
While moving to a new registrar, you are requested to contact .IN Registry to obtain your domain authorization or “AUTH CODE” – which will be required by the new registrar to initiate transfer of your domain(s). You would also be required to pay the renewal fee for your domains from its original renewal date.
You are requested to complete the transfer process in the next 15 days from the date of this email otherwise Registry will initiate required process.
Sincerely yours,
National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI)
