news The Brexit Party Doesn’t Acquire their domain. It backfired

Watch
This week, a controversial British politician launched the formation of The Brexit Party, a new pro-Brexit political party.

The launch has had a polarised reaction, but what’s interesting to highlight is that the party didn’t acquire TheBrexitParty.com, instead opting to register TheBrexitParty.org.

This has backfired on the party since the current registrant of TheBrexitParty.com has created a parody website of the official party site.

The parody site includes information arguing against the founder of The Brexit Party and asks readers to register to vote in upcoming elections to stop the party from gaining traction.

A tweet announcing the parody site has been retweeted over 12,000 times to date.

Typical remoaners...

I wondered when this was going to happen. I thought I saw it was for sale by hugedomains for a good while before the official launch of the party in the mainstream.

Either that or it was brexitparty.com that I saw and the real party just bought that to trump them. I notice that brexitparty.com redirects to the homepage of hugedomains now and not to a purchase lander.

That's not a parody site because there is no imitation for comic effect. It's not even satirical.

The Onion is a parody site.

The correct website address doesn't need to be a. Com

Something those on the. Com bandwagon have yet to realise

I am in the uk

It's a uk party etc

Not everything needs to be a. Com And
.org is ok in this particular case
