I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

Afternic are charging 2% for currency exchange - others will do it for less, so there are significant sums in play. And the same person may have bank accounts in more than one country, not least of all for exchange rate purposes.

Can anyone tell us who Afternic's payment processor is?
And whether it is Afternic or the payment processor who are responsible for the strange problems and issues created by the way they currently collect payment info:


Go to >My Account >Account Settings and scroll down to Domain Sale Payments from Afternic.
(Here your existing payment methods are listed - the Edit button is greyed out but works, after some delay)

When you create a payment method, it asks for your address on the first page. Then on the account info page it ONLY shows fields suitable for inputting a bank account in that country, not any other country you may have an account in. Surprising. Then at the end it asks you to complete Form W8.

So to list a USA account to receive USD you could put the bank's address in the USA on page 1. The Afternic form will then accept the bank's payment details on the next page. Then on the final page it asks you to complete a W9 form (only a US Person can do that, under penalty of perjuryhttps://www.quora.com/How-can-I-fill-a-W-9-form-when-I-am-not-a-US-citizen-or-live-in-the-US ) but offers on that page a link to fill in another form, which in this case should be Form W8. But that link does not work, even when Afternic email you to tell you to use it.

Anyone having problems with this? Sounds like once again Afternic need to fix their website.

yes, we face same issue. Why does it require a W9? your screen shot clearly refers non US resident tab... - but that page has that tab missing! frustrating I can see. Better to allow USA USD payout with a regular W8 BEN form.

I was having issues where I was getting opt-in from afternic but none from namesilo.
Contacted namesilo and they told me to delete the said name(s) and relist them at afternic, I did that and got opt-in emails from afternic then namesilo in 5 minutes. Not all my names thankfully.
Maybe try that @Nat Hunt with a name, delete then re add
I still get opt-in nightly from afternic for names at namecheap, as they told me they only support fast transfer one way, so thats why they are not part of premium network, but shows them as part of premium network.

Just wanted to thank @Joe Styler for being so helpful in solving a problem I had at Godaddy (that wasn't Godaddy's fault but was caused by a mistake I had made). Joe, you're a real asset to Godaddy and Afternic. Thanks for devoting so much time here at NP to explaining policies and helping so many people. Godaddy should clone you.

My account is suspended !!
I called Afternic customers services and they told me that they cant help me with that and i must contact them by email only , i sent them an email and im waiting for their help
They told me our Fraud department want to check for your account and its may take 72 hours
I sold 1 domain 10 days ago by Afternic fast network and transfer completed , yesterday i got sold message for domain need 16 days to be transferred manually , but Afternic asked me to push it to their Godaddy account , and I did , is this suspend due to 60 days lock ?
I have even messaged @Joe Styler about my account suspension. I am awaiting his reply and I believe he would help me out through reinstating my Afternic account.
Can anybody guide if I have missed out something that has somehow violated Afternic TOS in any way, as I believe I would not get into any such activity in any way.

who are you how many domains do you manage is it a new account ? this seems like your first post give it time godaddy take a while to respond.

Im domains reseller and not new in Afternic ,i sold more than 20 domains before and i own +100 domains but i didnt put them all for sale . I hope @Joe Styler reactive my account soon .

I dont think that will work. There seems to be a technical problem with the Enom names. The developers are looking into it to figure out what is breaking and fix it.

If you need further assistance concerning any pending transaction, you may be better served contacting the Transaction Assurance Team directly at TA@Afternic. This is the team that handles buyer and seller transaction once a domain has sold or been purchased.

I noticed my EnomCentral names are no longer being given the option to opt in to Afternic fast transfer.

This started happening maybe 1-2 months ago.

can you send me a couple domains as examples through a pm and I will look into it for you?

i just wanted to list my afternic exp!

this was my second sail. My first sail took 1 or 2 weeks for payout.

This sail was so cool! The domain transfer agent helped me through the process and responded within the day.

After the domain transferred to GD from netSol, they paid 2 days late OMGAD :D. It was that easy!~ I think. though, that they charged $1 for paypal payout :) but that's fine ^_^

hi... I am wondering if you can explain:

I rarely get an email notification for incoming offers (the one that says price request)... so sometimes when I login to afternic.. in my dashboard I see old offers waiting bin and floor prices.. and I never got emails for those. is this a known issue? will it be solved? I already checked my spam folders etc.. and thats not the problem.

2- when I login to my dashboard, I often see 100 or so names going in and out of review. for no reason. without me touching them or changing prices.. in fact I was not even logged into afternic since then... then they are accepted again.. and then days later.. randomly.. go into review again.. this keeps happening.. for random names it seems.. sometimes 50.. then 100.. then 150.. etc.. is this a known issue?

We don't have a known issue for either one of those. If you are not getting the emails you should call your account rep or email support. You can ask [email protected] to update your email on all services to the one you want to get alerted to. Then can look over your account with you and see what is happening and make sure it is set up right and not going to an old email address on some offers or something like that.

On the other names will go in and out of review that is going to happen. When the WHOIS is changed - not necessarily by you but it could be you, or the registrar updates something you're names are going to be reviewed again and checked to see if they can opt back in. You can contact us if you have questions about specific names or lists of domains but more often than not it is us getting something from the registrar saying more or less something changed on the domain and we need to re-check it.

When the WHOIS is changed - not necessarily by you but it could be you, or the registrar updates something you're names are going to be reviewed again and checked to see if they can opt back in.

I have seen a couple of times domains going to "in review" status without any whois changes. In particular - no registrar account pushes, no whois profile changes, no renewals. Indeed, the domains soon returned back into distribution. I however did not see such a problem in recent months. Or maybe I simply did not notice, as I'm not logged-in 24/7...

As a side note:
It is known issue that, should I perform registrar transfer of afternic-listed domain, I will have to delete the domain from afternic and re-add it again. Unfortunately, there is no way to select correct current registrar. Now, the issue is the following: _if_ the domain had to be reviewed manually initially (such as being suspicious for the bot who thinks that it may be adult), then, after I re-added it, it will go into review again. What a time waste. Would it be possible to change the system behavior in this aspect? Somebody reviewed it once and found that it is OK - not adult. If it is added again later due to whatever reason - registrar transfer for example - then it makes no sense to check again is it adult or not...

plz tell me you are not implementing txt record verifications on afternic like on gd?

since you implemented txt records on gd you are getting thousands upon thousands less domains listed there (as I refuse to believe I am the only one who no longer can list)... and therefore countless sales less for you too and for domainers... due to fact for larger folio hodlers across various registrars, it simply becomes impossible in many cases to do bulk txt changs.. or in some other cases, some registrars require dns change to default just to be able to do txt change...

this txt record change need for gd will have longterm big and devastating effect on your listing numbers, therefore your sales too.. and on people's sales.

I am sure a one size fits all approach will not be the norm at any company going forward. We will all have to adapt. Just because we may not solely rely on txt records for ownership verification that doesn't mean another company, say Google will offer other solutions when they want to verify your domain for SEO or SSL etc. GoDaddy is proactively preparing for the changes and are working to do so in a way that impacts customers as little as possible and continues to provide them with a great service level. I expect things to get better with the changes on the Afternic side and we should be able to have things working better than they do now, that is our goal.

as it stands now, there is no way in the world that need for txt records on gd auctions has not decreased your listing numbers... and in my opinion considerably... this automatically implies less sales for you.. and this implies less sales for domainers. I know it has decreased considerably how many domains I list in gd... I do go through afternic now to list on gd, but by far I prefered to list on gd directly.

so from this you can understand what will happen to me, and again I refuse to believe I am the only person in the world in this situation, if you implement same txt record process on afternic.

I am not particularly tech inclined ot understand what you mean about google verifications, but I do not presume this will be a difference maker between someone being able to own domains or not own them. or able to sell them, vs not sell them. so you must have been refering to something else. like maybe domain development. which most domainers do not do.

DNS verification (in general) or TXT records (in particular) may not be the easiest thing to set, but... What alternatives do we have in no-whois world? I cannot think of any. So, imho, it should be accepted "as is". The only issue I can think about is the following - if the domain is already parked with one of parking companies and is using their DNS, then it would be currently impossible to add custom records to existing dns.... In all other cases, generally speaking, it can be achieved. For example, if the customer is using own forsale pages and, accordingly, has full dns control - then some shell script can be written to bulk update, or the hosting company may assist with such an update, etc, etc.
@Joe Styler : it would be great if you apply the new scheme to _all_ customers, including big api customers who tend to add domains they do not own, or never delete domains they no more own. Even hugedomains does this, and frequently.

Yes solving for that is part of the project making it easier for people to list the domains they own when they drop and are re-registered.

well.. currently a place like afternic is requring no txt records to verify... and they never did.. and things are going okay.. without it. so why not do same for gd??

and sedo allows dns redirect for say 24hours to their park page, to validate names... as alternate validastion method. which is much better than txt records to setup and complete.

so I hope gd keeps above in mind... I already asked @Joe Styler to consider dns redirect as alternate verify method. so I hope this will go to somewhere please!
