Dynadot

discuss Cost was $19.95 to get a 100k counter-offer on Dispensary.Best

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
So I go to Dynadot and see dispensary.best is for sale, not via Dynadot.com but thru DomainAgents.com

So I pay the required $19.95 fee to domainagents to handle my offer to buy dispensary.best

So the owner rejects my mid-3 figure offer with a $100,000 counter-offer! Is the name that good?

Like this post, clear with fact...thanks.:xf.cool:

I didnot so negative on .best, I even register some recently include employer(s).best, but to be honetsty, I dont think 100k or $xxxx is a reasonable price to dispensary.best..best is a sensible extention for me , I dont care too much on it order~ best xxx or xxx.best~but why I spend so much money for ngtld, I expect lowest cost while I goto ngtld....

specially, while I am a domainer, I only want spend regfee for ngtld at this moment, if it take by others just forget it....ngtld have so many alternative, why I need spend 100k for one ngtld?

Yeah, I'd say since the .com was registered today 4/11/2019, there is a very low probability the term has high value.

The proper version of the term would be BestDispensary.com or BestDispensaries.com and those both were registered in 2009 and 2013.

That was sharp of you spotting that registration from today. Who here will admit getting it, which was a nice new reg and should get in the April contest? BTW, I like dispensary.best more than new reg dispensarybest.com but far far than 100k more!

rule #1 with these new extensions is to make sure the words are in the correct order and if they are not just move on to another name.

I agree with you entirely IF you are viewing it as a domain name phrase. Occasionally non-optimum combinations sell, but most of the time the right one has the high value.

However, if you view .best like .com or .org or .ca, as an appendage that is not really part of the name but rather providing a vague indication of the time of name) then the order is not relevant. In this case .best is saying this is somehow a "best of" type of review/comment/reference site, just like .ca is telling me it is a Canadian based name and .org is telling me it is some sort of organization.

I think .best can be interpreted either way (stand alone or as part of domain phrase) but we should not confuse the two.

Definitely a nice way to check on which variations of a term/word are more popular! For example: plural versus singular. I agree that has some value.

I just get an eye twitch when I see some folks on here quoting the search result volume as a means of demonstrating their name's value. It's backwards logic. I just typed in an exact search for "best restaurants in north America"... over 400K results!! Do I want to own that in .com? No thank you.

If only it was 2007 all over again! :)

I don't understand how you're one of the long standing members of Namepros and you don't know basics like this. The amount of Google results has no correlation to what people are searching for. That's the whole point of exact match search volume. Even that metric holds far less value these days than it once did.

True! Number of search results is nothing, you have to look at the average monthly search volume instead.

"Dispensary Best" has 0 per month search volume
"Best Dispensary" has 720 per month search volume
"Best Dispensaries" has 50 per month search volume

You can use keyword planner in Google Adwords to find search volume.
Alternatively I use a chrome extension called Keywords Everywhere which is a great and very useful tool, it gives you search volume directly in google.

Cyril.Best has reported a $1,000,000 offer on the pair.
I can price any of my domains in 1M, even in 100M. Damn, look in our Sale section, some delusional folks really do it. But this won't increase a real domain VALUE even for a cent.

I would let it expire if i got it for free. The seller like most new domainers wanted to get rich with a single domain so the counter. And as much as it may be worth mid three figure to you, it's not that great to me. Just saying.

I definitely see 2 potential buyers for DispensaryBest.com, the OP here and owner of Dispensary.best.

And would say it’s worth more than reg. fee, between $19.95 and $100k, right?

GoDaddy appraisal and comparable sales were higher than I would’ve thought too.

I have the same view if best is used in the domain, or an extension, as Bob Hawkes said, see below. If used in the name i.e. BestDispensary.com it works great in the correct word order but DispensaryBest.com does NOT work for me because it is backwards so I would have no interest buying or even hand reg'ing it.

The word 'best' in extension indicates or implies words in front of the dot are the "best of" i.e. the best dispensary. So that means I would pay mid to high 3 figures for dispensary, best but pay nothing for dispensarybest.com because at is contrary to my game plan.

P.S. I am not saying the GD valuation tool is wrong, only saying the format does not follow my game plan so worth nothing to me but it may have good value to others.

This is I think on topic with the original of this thread. I have never used a service like DomainAgent or similar from other companies. I want to learn more. What exactly do they do for the $19.95. Do they simply send to the Whois contact (if they can get that through a subscription service) or lacking that the cloaked contact through registry a message asking how much the owner wants for the domain name, and then conveys that information to you, or do they do something else?

Bob

PS Added question - Why do people who want to sell a domain name not have a lander so prospective clients can contact them? If all domains had landers it seems the service would not be necessary. Is it simply to not be bothered with frivolous inquiries?

I know about GoDaddy Domain Buy Service.
You pay $60 to GoDaddy to buy a domain name.
You tell them your budget. They have 30 days to get the domain.
The broker will contact the owner with a low offer, offer has like 8 days to expire, he will let the offer expire without saying anything even if you counter. Sooner or later he will present the full offer (budget).
People use it if there's no landing page or whois info, or if they have no experience negotiating domains.

or if they have no experience negotiating domains.
Thank you for the very informative answer, @Windoms! I can see that some who do not wish to negotiate directly a sale would rather the offer came in from a service like that, and there is the security of dealing with a person from a company that you know. So for some at least it is like having a broker, but for a domain priced at a level normally a broker would not handle. So if they are not able to secure the domain name, you still pay the fee, is that right?

"When a potential buyer is interested in a domain name, the buyer purchases a DomainAgents credit and identifies the domain name they are interested in acquiring. We then attempt to contact the domain name owner to present the offer on the buyer's behalf. You will receive notice from DomainAgents via email or phone alerting you to the offer. When you visit DomainAgents, you can engage in negotiations, accept, or decline the offer. If you engage in the negotiation, to compensate you for your time, DomainAgents gives you the choice of a $10.00 payment, etc"

So if they get a lot of inquiries the $10 credits you may get by PayPal can add up.

On this one there was no make offer landing page except saying use DomainAgents and also no way to contact owner direct.

P.S. DA refunds/credits the fee if unable to get reply from owner, not sure about GD.
